Waukesha, Wisconsites - I need your help

NY25

HELP - For those living in Waukesha/Brookfield/Pewaukee, Wisconsin - I need to purchase a gift certificate for dinner for two and have no idea what are some nice restaurants in the area. (I'm on the East Coast)
I'd like something "nice" without being too fancy, but nothing chain-oriented or overly family oriented, etc. Something nice or fun for a couple to do without being too loud, obnoxious, stuffy or expensive. Any suggestions?
(I've found Jake's, Pedro's, Casa del Rio and Mr. Bs, as potential options)
THANKS!!

Hi, NY25!

Zilli's Grandview Inn in Waukesha is very nice with good food but not too fancy. There's also the Weissberger owned restaurants (Gasthaus in Waukesha which serves German food, Seven Seas in Hartland). Jake's on Capitol in Pewaukee is a favorite of my DH's. Mr. B's (Brookfield) is a Bartalotta restaurant so you can't go wrong with that. Casa del Rio is good - more casual - not in the same league as the others IMO.

HTH. Maybe some of the Buff Badgers will chime in here with other suggestions.

I use to live in Waukesha and the first one that came to mind is the Gasthaus (a German restaurant). Very good food.

Hi, Joanne!

What a small world! So, did you grow up in Waukesha or just live there awhile? I've lived there 14 years and enjoy it very much.
