Warm up Changes

I went to a fitness convention last year and notice that all the presenters were doing their warm-ups on the step. I know in the past some fitness organizations spoke againist doing the warm-up on the step. I know things change, I love this but are there any watch outs?
I mean doing the total warm up on the step.

Thanks
Linda

Hi Linda! I would have to see the actual warm up you are talking about to comment, however, yes, the industry has changed a bit on warm up standards. Now you will typically warm up with the activivty that you are going to do, only in a much less intense manner. You want to avoid impact in the warm up too. After about 5 to 7 minutes a few active stretches can be incorporated before going into the body of the workout. These can be done incorporating the step without actually being fully on the step. There is also a totally safe stretch on the step and that is calf stretches. Hope this helps!
