Wanna share some positive thoughts...?

There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands. You seek problems because you need their gifts.

You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.

Here is a test to find whether your mission on earth is finished : If you're alive, it isn't.

Okay, these are all from the book "Illusions" by Richard Bach. It's my all-time favorite and is incredibly uplifting. I have the book at home and could probably just type in the whole thing. But these are a few quotes I found on the web.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the song without the words
And never stops at all.
Emily Dickinson

Never discourage anyone...who continually makes progress, no matter how slow.
Plato
Greek author & philosopher in Athens (427 BC - 347 BC)

"Each day and the living of it, has to be a conscious creation in which discipline and order are received with some play and foolishness"

May Sarton

Hey Shelley,

You've quoted by life's philosophy, thanks.

It always thrills my heart to know a place to vent, as well as receive support, encouragement, and sometimes a good ole kick in the rear are just a click away.

OMG you gals have made my day and, please, feel free to keep 'em coming!

"There are two types of events in life: Good and very good. Sweet and
bitter-sweet. Why bitter-sweet? Sweet, because from each event in life
we grow. Bitter, because it is so painful to tear ourselves away from
who we once were.
~Tzvi Freeman~"

When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be
disappointed to discover they are not it -- Bernard Bailey

i shall be telling this with a sigh,
two roads diverged in a wood, and i,
i took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.

robert frost

One more from Richard Bach:

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof. ― Illusions

Because that's how I feel about many of you here.

I love this quote from...(i can't remember who posted it, michelle maybe??)

Great thread Melody...I collect quotes too!

"Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into a flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light." ~~Albert Schweitzer

In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death.
-from the diary of Anne Frank

Ok, if Anne Frank could find the good and think positive thoughts in a concentration camp...

Excellent, Melody. Anne Frank's diary is a truly amazing testament to the human spirit.

Yes, the quotes were all positive and happy, but just so you all know, I just finished wiping away a few tears....I love how we can touch each other from places oh so far away...

Donna,

I know, Mattea had me in tears - good tears - earlier with her quote.:)

Here's a funny, kind of uplifting(?), or maybe motivating(?) phrase that cuts to the chase:

"Put your big girl panties on and deal with it."

I haven't a clue who said that.

I keep the following taped to my work station and have for years. There are many days I need to refer to it.....

Attitude

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to chose what kind of day I am going to have. Today, I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free. Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste. Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive. Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that I was born. Today I can cry becauses roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses. Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships. Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy that I have a job to do. Today I can complain because I have to go to school, or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge. Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because God has provided shelter for my mind, body, and soul. Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. An here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shapling. What today will be like is up to me, I get to choose what kind of day I will have.

Have a great day.... unless you have other plans!!
