Wanna share some positive thoughts...?

I understand our need to vent and gripe, but I've been doing so much of that the last couple of days I need to uplift and be uplifted, or at least provoke some deep thought. Therefore, I'm going to post some positive quotes and thoughts during the day to benefit myself...anyone is welcomed to join.:)

"Peace, it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work, it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." -anonymous

Good thread, sis!

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.
Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

Thanks for joining, sis.

Fear less, hope more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Hate less, love more; And all good things are yours.

People, I refuse to give up on this one.:)

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. --Martin Luther

Oh! Oh! I found another one!

I begin to think, that a calm is not desirable in any situation in life....Man was made for action and for bustle too, I believe.
Abigail Adams, letter to her sister, Mary Smith Cranch, 1784
US wife of John Adams 1764 (1744 - 1818)

Be warned, I collect quotes...

Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.
-Henry Van Dyke

I like this one, too!

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.
Martha Washington
US wife of George Washington 1759 (1732 - 1802)

Self Control...

is not an easy path to follow. Those of us who try to follow You know it is steep, the footing insecure. Often it seems that others are standing at the edge of the path and throwing rocks under my feet, just to watch me stumble. If I lose my footing and fall, they take great pleasure in mocking me. Without Your help, I would fail to reach my goal, but You have promised that You will be there for me when I call for help. I do not know how to deliver myself from temptation, but You know the way. You have been there. You suffered temptation and won all Your trials. When I stumble, Your arms catch me; if I fall, You bring me to my feet and guide me onward.

Prayer that the Lord delivers (The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations) 2 Peter 2:9

Does it just have to be quotes? I've got some good ones at home...

But I keep thinking of that beautiful sunset I saw last night, the cool breeze and fresh air. And I think that we live in a really, really beautiful world - it's there if we just take the time to see.

Way to go people!! Thanks:)

Quotes not required, just positive uplifting happy thoughts:7

Like my darling boys running barefoot outside in the natural beauty of warm spring sunshine and the wind tickling their faces.

"The superior man acquaints himself with many sayings of antiquity and many deeds of the past, in order to strengthen his character thereby." --I Ching;-)

And here's one in response to my own gripe:
"If kids come to us [educators/teachers] from strong, healthy functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important." Barbara Colorose

Mattea

Maybe not quite as inspirational, but I think it's sooo true:

In things pertaining to enthusiasm,
no man is sane who does not know
how to be insane on proper occasions.

- Henry Ward Beecher

Ok, Mattea, I'm crying because I love this beautiful quote which so speaks to my family --myself, DH, biological DS and 3 DS who are ALL mine but adopted from "families that were NOT strong, healthy, functioning families"

Thank you for sharing this. I've got to go attend to those loves of my heart.:)

I know what you mean Melody-I have long admired the family you and and your DH have put together and the work and love you build your life from. As teachers this attitude is why DH and I get out of bed each morning-and sometimes cry at night.
Mattea

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear
much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Good-bye."

I don't remember where I read this.

"We don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. To live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory"
