Wanna hear the sheriff's news release??

I know you guys don't think I made up my tale of woe about Alex, my wayward camper (and now I can say that with a grin since he's safe and sound.) But for sheer WOW factor and to leave NO doubt as to my credibility ('cause it's an incredible tale), we were pretty startled today to find out that the Linn County, Oregon Sheriff, the handsome and buff (I might add) Dave Burright, issued a news release on the day that Alex was rescued about Alex's adventure/ordeal (depending upon who's describing it -- him, adventure; me, ordeal). For those of you who want to hear it , this number is for the Sheriff's office's autiomated news release phone line, and Alex's story was the first one automaticallly played as of 10:00 p.m. today, EDT. If any other stories have been added, choose the news release for Friday, July 2.

The number (use those free LD cell phones, kids) is: 541-917-6677

Do I have a high maintenance kid, or what?? :)

Thanks again to all of you who have written here and e-mailed and called me with your support and friendship and admiration for my son's plucky spirit -- it means the world to all of us and especially to me. Hugs to all of you!!

Too cool Kathy! I just called and it was the first message! Not that I EVER had any doubt that you were telling the truth. I still cannot believe what Alex went thru and how cool and calm he stayed thru it all. I get nervous just thinking about the nighttime, what could have happened and am so happy that God was able to keep him safe while he rested and searched for safety. Another HUGE hug to you, Kenny, Alex & Evan. I'm sure Evan was beside himself with worry also. Can't wait for you to all reunite!

Hi Deb! Evan didn't know...

I guess I left that essential part out of the story! Evan is at camp in NC right now at the same camp that sponsors these teen leadership expeditions (www.enf.org -- Evan's at Eagle's Nest Camp, Alex is with the Hante School.) I can't say enough wonderful things about this organization -- they handled this FIRST CLASS. One of their first thoughts, and ours, was Evan. They kept a very tight lid on what was going on so that not even the counselors at the camp knew about it, until Alex was found. We had all agreed that Ken and I would speak to Evan about whatever (Lord forbid) we needed to, when we had to. Of course happily we didn't have to. When Al was found, the camp director (with our blessing) called Ev in and gave him a very lowkey, abbreviated version -- "Alex was lost for a little while but he's been found and everything's okay -- your folks went out there to check on him but they're on their way home and all's well." Evan reportedly rolled his eyes and said "Typical Alex." ;-) I think it's a fair statement to say that he's just dandy and was barely affected by this. :)

Sheriff Dave is really a hunk, by the way -- I couldn't have cared less at the time, but in relaxed hindsight GEE he's cute -- not unlike your Dave, kiddo! ;-)

RE: Hi Deb! Evan didn't know...

You know Kath, I wondered about that! I think it was very wise to wait to see what transpired and thankfully, it was a great outcome! I still get goosebumps when I read these posts. Just reading what the camp director said to Ev gave them to me all over again. Glad he is "dandy"! :) HUGS GF!!! (BTW, Sheriff Dave had a NICE voice too! Ha! Does he do Cathe workouts to be sooo buff?)

Hi Kathy. Which city do you live in? My daughter is going to school at OSU.

I'm glad your son was found. I can only imagine how sick you were with fear.

EDIT: I just read your other thread. A great big hug coming your way, Kathy.
