Walking Workouts

Cathlete
Hi all,

Does anyone know of an advanced walking workout that I can do at home. I'm trying to mix up cardio and would to incorporate more walking. I've been walking outside, but lately with close to 100 degree heat and high humidity, I haven't been out much. Also, I'd like to have a couple of workouts for the winter months.

Thanks for your help.

Mar:)

I would not say its advanced .But a great walk ... Leslie Sansone's "WalkAway The Pounds " The 3 Mile . It helped me loose my first 33 pounds !!:) :)

Do you have a treadmill? If so, Treadmoves has some advanced treadmill workouts. (I have one I'd be glad to send you for a SASE).

Most walking workouts I've seen are beginnner/intermediate. I wouldn't consider any of them advanced.

I've used some of Leslie Sansone's longer workouts (3 and 4 miles) while jumping on my rebounder. I do jogs, high jogs, jacks, sprints, and a variety of moves I've seen in other rebounder workouts, in addition to some i just ad-lib, in time to their music, and substituting for the moves they do.

No I don't have a treadmill. But the rebounder is a good idea. I think I'll try that. Thanks.

By the way, Kathryn, I am considering a treadmill in the near future. Can you recommend one that is not expensive, maybe even used if I can find one? Also one that is not too big. I don't have a lot of space with all my other stuff.

Thanks

Mar

Hi Mar. You may have to fish around to find it but a long time ago the Firm (the OLD Firm - with Susan Harris) did 2 power walking tapes - one for beginners and one for advanced. You carried 3 pound weights (I sometimes up mine to 5 lbs) and do all upper body movements as you walked to music from old firm videos. You can look a little weird, but they were awesome walking workouts. I think each one was about 40 minutes. Hven't seen them in a while though.

Hi Mary - What kind of treadmill do you have? Does it have an incline. Is it huge?

Thanks

Mar

Hey Mary I know you already walk that lovely golf course...

But for variety a treadmill is great and you can incorporate intervals with it. We have a True treadmill we purchased from Rochester Fittness Equipment. We've been using it since 1999, and it still works well. I would recommend that brand. They may or may not carry it any longer, but the sales staff are very helpful either way.

Sorry, I don't have one, so I have no recommendations. Though there's a Proform one they sell on HSN that looks pretty good (and they sometimes have free shipping on it).
