Walking to Cure Diabetes

Hi everyone. I've been walking to cure Diabetes for the past four years, and this year I'm trying to raise more money for the cause. My BIL was just diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, so I'll be walking this year in his honor...

The walk is on October 25th. If you'd like to sponsor me (all money goes to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) click on the following link. It is a secure site.

I really appreciate it, and so does Dan, my brother in law. Not to make this into a sob story or anything, but he has no health insurance and his wife is pregnant with their first child. Lets find a cure for this rotten disease!

Thanks!
Wendy

Hi Wendy, I'm bumping this for you. My son who is now 3 1/2 years old was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just over a year ago. I am right with you on the fight to find a cure! I did donate some money for you and am hoping that more people will find this to be a worthy cause.
Good Luck!

Kathy

Hi Wendy! You are doing a very GOOD thing. I also have been walking for the last 4 years. Our walk this year was Oct. 5th. (had to miss for son's bb game). Our team raised $21,000!!!! Our leader has a soon to be 5 yr old who was diagnosed when he was 11 months. Can you imagine? It was so hard to get him to eat what he needed to eat when he needed to eat it! My cousin found out he has type I when he was 19. I want to find a cure. I hear they are getting so close!

I know this sounds like a bad idea for raising money for diabetes, but we did several bake sales. That's what brings in the money!! The first one was just pies at a small town festival and we brought in $1000. Then we spread a few out over the summer. Of course there were donations.

Keep up the good work!!

Susan

Hi Wendy,
I just wanted to say that I too walk for Diabetes as it runs in my family and I lost my dad to complications due to Diabetes (fortunately though he lived a good long life!).

Anyway, good luck on your walk and fund raising effort!

Thank you, Kathy!

Thanks so much, Kathy. I'm glad you posted about your donation, because I just got an email from JDRF that you had made a donation, but didn't know who it was from and didn't know how to thank you...
I'll be thinking of you and your little boy as I walk!

Thanks again very much!
Wendy
