Wal-Mart pulling dog treats

Since the topic is animal nutrition...

I am just now moving my pets from canned and dry food to a raw food diet (I have one border collie and 3 adult cats). I researched doing this a few months ago, but was discouraged by all of the reports stating that it was too difficult and dangerous.

I have been prompted to continue my research by my dog's extra weight (15 pounds) due to a thyroid condition that has not cleared up with meds or additional exercise (20 mins added on to 45 mins a day). One of my cats is overweight as well, and he does not overeat.

Anyway, I have found a number of products that can be added to raw meat and water in order to give pets the nutrients they need. The one I chose is called sojourner farms and it comes in a powder. There are also frozen meals you can buy, like posh nosh. I just ordered the stuff yesterday and I am really excited to begin the transitioning phase. I already eliminated any and all dry food (which my pets did not get much of anyway).

I also just bought some new kitty litter today, made from corn rather than clay. It's called World's Best Litter (Extra Strength) and got rave reviews. My cats used it very soon after I put it out, thank god.

Since so many of you guys are animal lovers, I thought this post would be of interest. I will keep you guys up-to-date on how everyone progresses!
