Vita-mix Blender

I have a good friend who has one of these, and she says that she loves it. I wanted to borrow it once but didn't so I personally cannot comment. I needed it to grind wheat berries into wheat flour, but ended up just getting an attatchment for my Champion juicer. I figured it would be too regular of a thing to be borrowing. I found what I needed to make it work personally, but was considering this as a purchase originally.

If you really still want more, let me know specifically some questions, and I can pass them on to her. I know she has had it for a number of years, and used it, so she would be a fair opinion to ask.

I just got one and love it! It is amazing and much, much better than a juicer. You just throw the whole fruit in (even an apple) and it makes a delicious drink out of it. You have nothing to throw out! I hate tofu but I can add it to a fruit drink and even my husband and children will drink it. Same thing with flax seeds. Have I said it is amazing?!

However I haven't found a great recipe for a vegetable drink. I would love something like a V8. Does anyone have any good recipes?

We have one but only use it to make smoothies. Oh, maybe a few batches of margaritas. While much better than the Kitchenaid blender we had, it is not as powerful as described. It runs pretty hot just making a smoothie from frozen fruit & soy milk. I actually sent it back to the manufacturer while under warranty & their response was that it ran just perfectly.

I love my Vita-Mix. Nothing can come close to it for power, other than a jet engine. I have had no mechanical problems with it whatsoever in 5 years.
The only drawbacks are: It is loud. I actually have my children leave the room when I make smoothies. Also, because it make fabulous margaritas, in volume, I have become "Margarita Queen" at my girlfriend fiestas ;)
