Victoria's Secret clothing

I got a VS catalog in the mail and they have some cute clothes. Has anyone tried their clothing? How do the sizes run (say compared to Old Navy or Gap)?

TIA,

Karin

Hi Karin,

I would say that they tend to run a little big, but I guess it depends on how big you are to begin with. I'm pretty small(height and weight) and a lot of there clothes hang pretty long on me or if it is a V-neck it goes a little lower than most other places. In this respect I would say there more like the Gap for me. I feel like Old Navy's clothes are sized a little smaller(which I like). That's my opinion anyway.

Funny I always find the clothes run VERY small. I am usually a small at Ann Taylor/Gap and in VS clothes its a medium or large for me. I especially find the sleeves on the long sleeve shirts very tight. I am not a huge weight lifter (hope Cathe's not reading) and do more yoga for tone than anything but usually the shirts are tight in the biceps.

Also sometime the materials are a little cheap looking when you receive them. My suggestion find some of last season's stuff new on ebay and see what you think.

I have ordered clothing from VS in the past only to return it. As the above poster mentioned, the materials felt cheap and they were in no way fitted as they appeared on the models. For the clothes I ordered they must have cinched them in the back on the models for the catalog pics to appear more fitted than they actually were. I was very disappointed.

I love VS clothes, I buy alot of my clothes from VS. I love it...
I am small, and I just had to learn from the measuring chart how to order my pants and tops and bras.

As for size, some places the tops are a little snug, but that is how they are suppose to be, and in other places a little big but not to bad.

I find the clothes run pretty small. I wear either a large size or 12 and their larges run 8/10 average, their XL size is about a 10/12. Their fabric quality tends to be inconsistent as well.

I've bought some sweaters and bra tops from VS and have always been pleased with the quality and fit. I take a medium top and haven't had any problem with them being too tight or loose. I've never tried any of their pants. My bottom is huge and I don't buy anything that I can't try on first.

I agree Robin. If you're bottom (and hip) heavy, Victoria's Secret pants/skirts are not made for you. I only orders tops and underwear from them. I have three pants that I ordered from them but I had to return them for the next larger size to get them to go up past my butt and thighs. Also, if you're short, they sell a few clothes for petite sizes, you just need to pay close attention to the inseam measurements. I'm 5'4" and don't get any inseam longer than 30".

PS: I have never kept anything I've ordered from the VS catalog except underwear and bathing suits. The sizing to me is really inconsistent and like others have said, the material is blah.

I ordered some pants and they were about the size of a barbie dolls. LOL! I usually wear a 4 so I sent them back knowing the nexr few sizes would be to small so I got a 12! They fit ok everywhere, but the butt just hung and felt like I was in a diaper. I sent them back. I also order some shorts and they were so cute on the model. They came and were HUGE!. Looked like I was ready for a gunnie sack race. I sent those back. I did order the basic tank tops and liked those alot. No more pants for me though. The sizes are way to inconsistant and I am not a pear, I have small, narrow hips.

Now, about the bras....I LOVE VS bras!!! They are the only ones I can wear that 'push up' what and where needs to be pushed up without looking like they are making my front into a chin rest!!!

I love their pants its the only place I seem to be able to find pants that fit. Smaller waist a little bit bigger through hips and upper thighs. You need to buy by their descriptions They have them that they are relaxed fit and a little lower on the waist and they fit perfect. And I wear my normal size 4.

I used to order their clothes all the time, but now that I've put on a little weight, I've been hesitant. They do run a little small and I really don't want to order a size bigger than I'm used to (I know, just my stupid little mental block). I think they make their tops tight and low cut on purpose, that "sexy" look they promote. And, trust me, nothing you buy is going to look the same on you that it does on the models! I figured that one out a long time ago! Those girls are so tall and so thin, I don't think anyone in the real world looks like that!

Thanks ladies! With your replies and sleeping on it, I decided to not purchase some VS clothing right now.

Thanks again,

Karin

I would agree here. I have been (in the past) ordering from VS but have stopped - the pants are inconsistent and cheap, not made well at all and after trying to order again and again, only to have one pair after another show up and be defective, I started to give up. I am a size 6/8 generally and in VS I usually order a 10 in pants.....yet some of their 10's fit BIG and some fit TOO TIGHT?? Same maker? Also their sweaters do have really long sleeves and the tops are always more low cut than you think. Don't EVER buy their shoes, they are usually very unsturdy. However, the bras/lingerie are IMHO great and I love them. Love the perfume, etc. Their bikinis are great too and the winter boucle sweaters are something I still buy, they are great. But the suits, pants, tops, etc. - I'd advise away from.

It seems that everyone's experiences have been different.

I used to buy lots of clothes from VS, but the quality has gone downhill in recent years.

Sizing is all over the map. I found that their jeans (which are still good quality BTW) fit true to size. Everything else was a guessing game. Overall though, things tend to run a bit big.

Sometimes the quality would be great, and on other items it would be awful. I finally just quit ordering from them. You can get so much better quality and fit from places like Cache, Ann Taylor Loft or White House/Black Market.

The only thing good in their cataglogues are the bras. Their clothing does not fit right & they are very cheaply made. This is my opinion.
