Victoria Secrets catalogue buyers

Those of you who purchase from VS, maybe you can answer a question for me.

I just purchased a pair of jeans, usually get them in a size 6 but because my other VS jeans that are a size 6 hang off me anymore, I ordered a size 4. I wanted the Hipsters in stretch and accidentally ordered the Ultra Sexy low cut jeans. (Their order numbers for jeans are so confusing! I think they do it on purpose.) Well, these are nice jeans but way too low for me so I sent them back via UPS which is a charge of $4.95 that they will tack on my VS card. I reordered the Hipsters via online and had to pay shipping and handling charges all over again. What a load of crap. When all is said and done, I'll probably be paying over $60 for a $39 pair of jeans.

Is there a cheaper way to return items? Should I have done an exchange to save shipping? Although I think they would charge me for shipping anyways since it was my fault that I ordered the wrong jeans.

I can't believe they can charge so much for shipping and it really bums me out that the VS stores do not carry the clothing line. Doesn't make sense?

Thanks for listening to yet another gripe by me! Its been one of those days...

can't you return the jeans to a VS store? i thought you could, that would save on shipping.

shipping is the worst. even if you order when they have a "deal" of order $100, get free shipping, if you return something they go back and charge shipping on the original order. it isn't wrong of them to do, but it still feels lame.

Hmmm, I didn't think you could return things from catalogue orders through their store. I'll have to try that next time. Thanks for the tip!

No, you cannot order online or catalog items in the store.
You can however, not use the prepaid shipping label and ship it yourself. That is usually significantly cheaper. I have two dresses here ready to ship back, i'm going to take them friday to the post office. Hopefully i'll save some $$ that way.
Good luck,
Wendy

I was going to do that but I wonder how much you will actually save. Heck, I guess any little bit would help with all the charging they do to you!!! Drives me nuts.

I now buy all my Victoria's SEcret items either used or brand new off ebay. They charge too much for shipping in the catalogue, and the prices are cheaper on ebay as well.

I am pretty sure that if you are exchanging an item, they ship it for free. Although it will take longer to get that item cuz you'll have to wait for them to get it then "process" it then send out the new product.

Hi Debbie,

I order from VS catalogue quite often and I've always had to pay shipping for the order and also for shipping when I needed to return anything as well. I don't know of any way around it even if you're just exchanging items. It does stink, but I guess it's a risk we take for not being able to try to try the stuff on. I always measure myself before I order, but there is no way to tell how low the low rises were..haha

If you hear of any other way, I'd love to know as well.

I tiik this directly off the VS site "The original shipping and handling charges are not refundable. If you have an exchange for the same dollar amount as the original purchase, no additional shipping & handling charges will be incurred."

Debbie,

I know what you mean about s&h. I try to be so careful when I order now because i don't want to send anything back. You know what burns me up, I just got the sale catalog Sat., so this AM I put in the item numbers, everything I wanted was sold out! Now how is that possible? That's OK, I called the store and they are having a sale and the store is opening at 8A, 2 hours before the mall even opens. I may have to go all sweaty, right after my work out because they have all the items and some are even cheaper.

I've asked them a couple times(hopeing the answer would change)about returning catelog items to a "brick and mortar" store, and both times the they told me no.

I'm sending something back this week and on the slip it says for exchanges: "Note: Additional merchandise ordered may qualify for an additional special offer or require addditional shippping and Handling charges."

So it looks like you have to pay some sort of shipping twice (technically 3 times for an exchange: original, return and new item!). x( Sorry!

Yeah unless it's clothes it's better to go to the store. I wish the stores would start selling the clothes as well.

I had the same problem a few years ago and closed my account because of it - it's a ridiculous business practice. I could see if they sold clothes in their stores and you could try on items there or exchange/ return merchandise.

"The original shipping and handling charges are not refundable. If you have an exchange for the same dollar amount as the original purchase, no additional shipping & handling charges will be incurred."

This isn't true because I've exchanged the with the same dollar amount and I know they charge me shipping and handling again. Not sure why this is even in their policy section. This time, the jeans I ordered first were cheaper than the Hipsters so I knew I couldn't exchange them. I really don't think it would have mattered, though. I would have been charged again for shipping.

I have purchased several items for them recently. I have also have to return several items too. I try to send everything back at one time from a couple orders that way I only have to pay the $4.95 once. I cram them all in one package.
