vericose veins

Do they lesson after pregnancy? I am getting very discouraged. I am 30 weeks along with my second and my right leg is covered in them. It looks like I've been beaten or have an awful rash. I never had them with my first and my legs have always been one of my best features. Research shows they improve within 3 months of pregnancy, what have you ladies who have/had them found?

Mine didn't improve after pregnancy, but I am prone to varicose veins anyway thanks to genetics. Mine started showing up when I was a teenager and got worse with each pregnancy. My guess is that yours will get better after pregnancy just because the weight of the baby will cause less pressure in your lower body.

Hopefully, someone else will be more help!

For those of you who got varicose veins, did you undergo any treatments post-pregnancy to get rid of them? My Mom is considering sclerotherapy (sp?) and I was wondering how effective/painful it is.

Linda,

My newest issue of Self (April) had an article about the different treatments for veins. It sounds like they have made improvements in the effectiveness of the treatments and none sounded too painful to me. I've had vericose veins since high school and had sclerotherapy once. It worked OK, but they came back with each pregnancy and keep getting worse! Since this will be my last child I am going to look at my options after she's born.
