vegetarian/weightwatchers/keeping muscle

HI all, my body seems to prefer to eat vegetarian so I'm going with the flow. However, I need to lose about 15 lbs plus I don't want to sacrifice muscle. I'd like to do weight watchers and supplement with Spirutien soy shakes and the occasional protein bar. Do you think 60 grams of protein is enough? Also, I am to eat 20 points per day, which I'm ok with. If I stick to 20 pts or so I seem to lose weight. However, I always hear people say we need more calories than that. What do you guys think?

HI There,
Weight loss is such a puzzle isn't it? I have read both things, that you should have 1 gram of protein for each pound you weigh.(but I read that in a muscle mag so thats probelm for serious weight lifters) and I have also read that you should have .5 for every pound you weigh. I weigh 128 so I should have 64 grams of protein a day.But you also made me realize that I don't even count my grams of protein and thats something I need to start doing. You didn't realize when you posted this that you were gonna be helping someone else did ya?
I also think that 20 points is a bit low.I guess if you load up on your zero ponit food then you will get a few more cals.A friend of mine did weight watchers for a couple of years. The year she found it best was when she stuck to 23 points and if she wanted a treat she would add that into her 23 ponits, she wouldn't go over.I don't think she ate her activity ponits either. She just ate 23 ponits everyday, until the day she got married and she was small! But there is also the new flex point system that I am not familiar with at all.
Good lUck with you weight loss and let us know how it goes,
Lori:)
