Vacation ideas?

Nancy,
Perhaps a stupid question but have you been to the Thousand Islands region of NYS? I've always visited as a camper but there are some swanky resorts and fantastic boating (You can rent a boat or take one of many available cruises on the U.S. side or Canada)

my DB and i spent a week at the best friends animal sanctuary last summer. it is in kanab, utah. it is amazing and the accomodations were wonderful. we were able to relax as well as see zion, bryce and the grand canyon. i am ready to go back any day, any time.

Whatever you decide--let us know and have fun!

I just thought of another one that I really like, no laughing please :)

I just love going to Disneyland. The Disney Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is really nice. So you get your spa and DH can do a little bit of sight seeing. There are buses to Universal Studios, Knox Berry Farm, San Diego, and other places worth seeing.

I haven't been to Disney World, I think it's huge and they have a whole bunch of nice hotels/spas.

You can get some good information about discounts, savings and tips for Disneyland/Disneyworld at www.mousesaver.com

I always use my kids as an excuse to go to Disneyland :), but the truth is, I just love it!

Once again, Carola, we agree! We are Disney Vacation Club members and I absolutely love Disney World. There is so much to do and you don't even have to visit the parks to have fun (although I never tire of the parks). There are spas, shopping, tours, etc. I just love it!

I am the opposite of you...I have been to Disney World many, many times but never Disneyland. Maybe we should trade! ;)

Carola and Lorie,
Very interesting. My DH wants to go to Disneyworld but I've been on the website and just can't see what's in it for us. I watched a show on the Travel Channel about it and it was all rides. What would a middle-aged couple with no kids do there? I'd really like to know. Thanks!

There's shopping, Downtown Disney, EPCOT is pretty cool (going through all the countries and exhibits), the hotels are really nice and have great pools, Saratoga Springs Resort has an AWESOME gym (you can go to any of the resort's gyms or pools as long as you are staying at a Disney resort), Animal Kingdom is fun, actually all the parks are great even if you don't like rides. There is so much to see.

Maybe do a searxh on Disney for Adults. I think there are books about it as well. I am thinking one is called "Disney After Dark).

Lorie

I know there is a guide out there just for adults, and frankly, there is alot for adults to do. First you would need to stay at a more upscale resort, less child oriented, imo. I like the Grand Floridian. I could just hang around that pool and spa for the week.
Epcot is really more adult oriented than any of the other parks, with the Animal Kingdom coming in close, and MGM after that.
Great restaurants are everywhere in the parks and resorts, and downtown Disney is a shopping mecca! There are several restaurants here also, from the House of Blues to Rainforest Cafe to Bongo ( Gloria Estefans' place). Also, going in September is the quietest of the months to go. We have been there twice in September and there are no lines to deal with to speak of.

I'm joining this late, but DH and I had a great time in Costa Rica when we visited a few years ago. It's not hard to find a place to "home base" and do a lot of different activities from there. Most of the hotels and resorts offer a bunch of different day/half-day trips.
