Uterine Fibroids

Hi Cynthia,

I'm very sorry if it seemed I was negating hyster sisters or your other information about bladder slings. That was not my intent at all! ITA that hyster sisters has a LOT of great information posted. I was just trying to point out that some of the negative information posted there about hysterectomies needs to be taken with a grain of salt because everyone's physical condition varies going into the surgery, surgical skill varies, body responses vary, etc. etc. I know they cover a wide variety of topics with a lot of detail, so it can be invaluable.

Re: the bladder slings--again, I'm glad you pointed out what you did in case someone needs it. I was only trying to say that not everyone winds up with that problem. (devil's advocate role). I loved your info re: bovine vs. synthetic. If I ever do need it, you can be sure I'll take your advice!

Cathe's forum has so many knowledgeable people about so many topics--it's great! I always appreciate your contributions Cynthia, so again, my apologies if I came across as negative.

Happy Black Friday everyone!

Johannah,
No apology necessary. I totally understand where you are coming from.
I hope my post are not coming across as negative. If they are, I apologize.
It is not my intent.

There is a lot of negative posting on Hyster Sisters. It scared me to death. I was in tears after a day of reading the bladder section. What was worse, the sexual dysfunction folder. It all needs to be taken with a grain of salt. After all, women who are happy and complication free do not hang around that forum long.

I should also mention that all my research was done from a prolapse point of view. I have heavy periods, but nothing like Tneah describes. I take a low dose BC to manage my heavy periods.

I know from all my research that if I ever need a hysterectomy, I would want it done through lap surgery and want to keep my cervix.
I may need a bladder sling in the future, because my bladder rolls forward. This is what the first surgeon was feeling. Not my uterus.
Right now, my uterus is supporting my bladder.

Here is an interview with my second surgeon discussing synthetic vs natural graft material used in prolapse cases.
