Using Heavier Weights in CTX Series?

Hi Cathe-
I am thinking about starting a rotation w/ the CTX series but modififying it by using heavier weights than used in the tape and doing two body parts / day in a push/pull format...
You have indicated that CTX is more of a maintenance workout.. Would modifying the tape in this manner make it more of a strength gaining workout, or do you think I would need to add a day of MIS or Power Hour during the week I try this?

My goal is increased muscle. I have just finished the Slow and Heavy and am just looking at switching things up a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Lynn

PS.. How is the little bun??

Just to jump in. I think if you increase the weight, you will also need to increase the rest periods a bit.

Hi Lynn! If your goal is increased muscle then you are better off adding weight to your workouts and lifting slower, rather than adding on additional moderate to heavy weight workouts. Since you have just finished the Slow and Heavy series, I would suggest using the PS Series next for increased muscle.

The CTX body part sections run through a series of exercises and sets for each muscle group to keep your muscles stimulated. But due to the speed and short rest periods, it is hard to increase your weight load by very much, therefore keeping your muscles at their current strength(maintenance)vs continued strength gains. Good Luck!
