Upper body work while injured

Hi Cathe

I was wondering if you could give me some ideas of how I can work out my upper body with an injured hand. I have deQuervain's tenosyvitis (sp) in my right wrist and it's looking like I might be having to have surgery for it around Xmas time.

In the meantime, I can hardly use my hand. About three pound weights are all it will tolerate, and sometimes not even that. Certain things I know are out of the question, like pushups.

So I was wondering if you could give me some ideas of some upper body exercises so I can keep my upper body from getting totally weakened.

Thanks for your time!

Hi Maddie! In a situation like yours, it is best to get the advice from the doctor or practice that will be performing the surgery. They can offer suggestions that will be conducive to your needs rather than risk trying things that could be counterproductive. Good luck with your surgery.
