Upper Body Weights & swimming

I have a question as to making sure you take days off of training. Before I ask the question I want you to know I have been doing FIRM tapes off and on for 3 yrs and they did not come close to your Max Strength Tape. Thank you

My question is regarding how much is too much. I am getting back into swimming and try and swim 3 to 4 times a week. Should I swim on the same days I do my upper body workout, or should I swim on the off days. I do lower body one day and then upper body the next, instead of doing the entire tape in one shot (time restraints).

RE: I'm not Cathe but . . .

IMHO, you should not do upper body weights on the same days as you swim; instead, swim and do lower body strengthening on the same days, and do upper body on the alternate days. Swimming is primarily an upper body activity and does not recruit the legs very much, and even though the resistive characteristics of water are submaximal, you run the risk of over-fatiguing the upper body muscles if you strengthen AND do water work on the same day.

Just my $.02 . . .
