UPPER BODY REST-OH NO!

My doctor told me to not do any upper body for 2 weeks, I am of course, freaking! Has anyone else had to do this, and did it make much difference to you??

Relax - you will be fine! I broke my wrist last year and had to take a six week break from upper body work and was really distressed about it. I was able to get back to my normal weights really quickly once I started back - it was a very pleasant surprise!
Take care and enjoy the break!

This message is almost a week old, but I want to reply anyway because I had to take two weeks off upper body a month ago and I was freaking out too, I know how you feel. Anyway, I really didn't notice a difference, and in fact I feel a little stronger now. I took the two weeks off (I had biceps tendinitis) then went a little lighter for a week, then back to what I was lifting before. So don't stress out, enjoy the rest, and you'll be fine!

I feel your pain. I have a broken wrist, so I'm out for six weeks. Erica helped me so much by telling me about her broken wrist, and how she came back quickly.

I have been doing cardio and went to the gym today and did leg work. I also figured out I can do planks on my elbows. (I don't know if I'm really happy about that or not.) I did have a good excuse to skip them.

Take care!

It's ok

I had stiches in my toe 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to wear a shoe for 2 weeks, so I haven't done any exercise. I really haven't noticed a difference in my upper body at all. I guess you can do cardio and leg work, which is great. For me, I noticed my butt/hips/belly are a bit "softer" and I can see some cellulite. But I'm sure it'll be ok once I start up again- probably just water weight (and some fat too). The same goes for you- you'll get right back into it, probably be more motivated, and see results.

Lisa,

Now when you came back after two weeks, is that when you went lighter for the first week (after the rest)? Got one more week to go.

Thanks for all the comments from everyone.

Hi - yes it was when I came back from the rest that I went light for a week. I was afraid of getting the tendinitis back if I went too heavy right away. It's true what they say about listening to your body. I've been back to what I was lifting previously for about two weeks now I think and everything is fine. Hope this helps - good luck.

Just the Opposite

I can't do any Lower Body or Cardio due to a knee injury!! Can we trade for a week or two??!! My big problem is that I just want to EAT!! :-rollen I have to assume we'll both come out of it just fine.
Grrrr!! Murph
