Hello everyone, Well I am noticing a decline in my energy level and I also find that if I workout for longer than 20 minute I get dizzy. Well the diabetes has been controlled by diet but...the baby is still growing like a tree. As of my 33 week check he weighed 7lbs and 8 oz. his body and head measures 39 weeks. Tonite I am going to my ob and I will again remind him of my memorial day plan. They told me last time that they will not give me a date until my 36 week check up and today is my 34 week check up. I am a little nervous about having such a big baby or as my doctor called him a big a** baby but I have no control so we will see what happens.

mary, do you know if this is a boy or girl? i can imagine it is a bit scary to be told these things, but it sounds as though your health care team is being very proactive. i have heard from amny people though, that their guestimate on weight is just an estimate - they can be wrong. try to keep the faith you will have just the right sized baby for you. glad your sugar is under control. and 20 min of exercise is more than most people! keep us posted. i'll be thinking of you tonight.

Thank you for you encouragement. I just got home from the dr.s and he said that usually they do not like to induce gestational diabetics too early but at 37 weeks he would try to"stir things up" and if that does not work he will deliver me at 38 weeks. I am hoping that I do not need my membranes stripped which I had with my son. I told my dh that after 36 weeks we were going to have to have marathon s** to get things going!!!I hope you are feeling well too!!oh and it is a boy.

Mary, be proud of yourself for doing any workouts. My doctor has told me that measurements are not that accurate. You certainly will have a baby on the larger side, but does the doctor know for sure it is already 7 pounds. Also, baby could still level out. Either way, be glad the doctor is monitoring you so your son will come out healthy!

I'm glad your diabetes is under control with your diet. Keep up the good work. When I was induced with DS because I had gestational diabetes the tests showed him to be around 10 pounds. However he was 7 lbs 14 oz at birth. The technician told me at the time of the test that the numbers are not always accurate and could be off by as much as 10 percent.

Mary,

Just to ease your mind a bit, my ultrasound was off on my baby's weight by over 2 lbs! I'm not complaining, because the only reason my DD survived was because I had gone in to be induced. Before they had done anything medically, but after they strapped the belly monitor on me ( which they do as soon as you walk in the door :) ), her heart rate started dropping. At 1st we couldn't believe it was happening, because they hadn't done ANYTHING yet. But within a couple of hours we had to rush off for an emergency c-section, because her heart rate was in the 50s and not coming back up. Apparently she was trying to drop, and the cord was coming down 1st, so her head was compressing it.

Long story short, the inaccurate ultrasound saved her life, but it WAS off by over 30%. So don't let the big numbers scare you. :)
