Thank you everyone for your support and kind words!

I just wanted to let you know that it looks like we found a new family for Skyla, the Weimeraner that was abandonned in the dog park on Friday.

She will live only a block away from our house with a family that has 3 kids. They had a Weimeraner before that they had to put down recently, so they know what they are getting themselves into :) They are good friends with one of the lady's that I know from the dog park - she is a dog nut and rescues dogs as well, so I trust that she wouldn't recommend them if she didn't think they are terrific. I still grilled those poor people though }(

She still is staying at our house tonight because they want to set everything up for her, crate, food, bowls, etc. The husband is absolutely crazy about her and she rolled over for him and let him scratch her belly, she is such a sweet girl. But boy, she is so high energy, my high energy Aussies pale in comparison to her - I took her to the dog park twice today and had her run after balls for over an hour each time and she still is the energizer bunny - wow!

So I will be meeting them at the dog park tomorrow so they can see her again and see how she reacts with other dogs and to play with her.

It is funny though, I am really glad she will be in a great family and get all the attention she deserves, however, I am sad to see her go. I got pretty attached to her in the short time we have had her, I am already pretty teary-eyed, just typing this but I know it is for the best, I just can't handle 5 dogs, especially 3 high-energy dogs.

We will still see her at the dog park and she will come back to our house if her new family goes on vacation. They will also sign a "contract" that says that they will give her back to us, if things don't work out or if they can't keep her down the road because of changed circumstances, I just don't want her to be passed around.

Have a great day everyone and thanks again for all your support.

Carola

I'm glad that things will work out for her. She sounds like a wonderful dog!:)

On a side note, we bought our Golden Retriever from a breeder who had us sign a contract stating that we would contact them first if we needed to find the dog a new home because either THEY would find him a new home or take him themselves. I think that's a great thing. Shows that the person who initially has the puppy/dog really cares.:)

Carola,

That is great news. I got teary eyed just reading your post, because it sounds like a win, win for both you and the dog. Close to home, but not adding to you already large pet family. Good Luck to all of you.

What wonderful news. I am so glad that you were the one to find her at the dog park. Sounds like a terrific family for a terrific dog.

It really warms my heart to hear about animals lovers like you and all the others on the Cathe boards... especially after reading the morning paper and seeing how cruel people are to each other and to the animals that share our world. It's just nice to know that there are really good people out there!:)

Thank you everyone for your kind words, you guys just keep making my days, what a wonderful place with such terrific people to go everyday to check in :)

I actually just dropped her off at her new family and of course started crying when I left, my boys were pretty teary-eyed, too! But she has such a wonderful new home now and gets all the attention she deserves!!! They have a big yard and a pool and she LOVES water, so they will be going swimming with her this afternoon, she gets to splash in the pool :)

I stayed for 30 minutes and she seemed so happy about all the attention she got from them. After what she has been through she so deserves to be loved and cherished and they completely and utterly adore her. I do miss the sweet girl already though. I am such a wuss, aren't I :)

Have a great day and thanks again.

Carola,

Don't know if you already had this done when you first found her. But you might want to ask the new family to have her scanned for a microchip. I would hate it if she got loose on accident and animal control scans her and then returns her to the previous owner who already abandoned her once, instead of being returned to the new family that loves her.

Jean

Yeah, I took her to my vet and they scanned her on Friday. The new family will take her to their vet tomorrow and get her microchiped. Thanks for pointing it out, I sure don't want her to end up with the person that abandoned her to begin with.

Oh, Carola - how wonderful!! I'm so happy for all involved! And you're such an Angel, as someone else said, to make sure she's well take care of into her old age.

Awwwwwww, Carola. She sounds like a fabulous dog. You are the best. I'm so glad everything turned out okay! :D :D

Carola,

God Bless kind hearted people like you! All of the animals send you hugs and kisses! It makes me feel better to know that there are people who love animals as much as I do! Have a great day!
