Undulating Warriors April 5 - April 11

Hey again

Janis - I just wanted to tell you that we purchased two of the other Pranamaya DVD's. The upper back and lower back. I would not recommend these unless you have no movement at all in your back. They might be good right after a really serious injury but even DH with his back issues did not like them. The other instructor (the older guy - can't remember his name) is very knowledgeable but not at all like Jill. He kinda weirded us out as he was wearing dress pants and black socks throughout.

Jill has her yoga tune-up site and you can just get short videos for each body part. My DH swears by these and loves the tune-up balls.

Just wanted to share!
Talk to you soon

Good to know! black sock and trousers - definitely an ick factor. There are so many 'types' in the yoga fitness dvd business. I have bought my fair share of clunkers. I have this David Swenson dvd http://www.amazon.com/Ashtanga-Yoga...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1270835112&sr=1-1 and I have to say, his bony, lanky, thinness was a huge distraction. Then there are the guys with huge egos and not very good instruction, i.e. Bryan Krest and Barone Baptiste. I bought several of Ana Brett and Ravi Singh's dvds a while back and boy was I disappointed.

I always go back to Rodney Yee because he seems the least obtrusive. Who do you like?

:)

Morning Sat. Warriors

I am going to take a rest day today... I think. I actually slept in this morning and it is a beautiful day. So I think I will do outside work and call it good enough!

Janis - I really don't have a favourite yoga instructor yet. I did a class a few years ago and nothing really compares to that. I have Shiva Rae and she is pretty good but she does so much movement that you can't see if you are trying to do the moves too you can't see what she is doing. I have Brian Keast too but his ego and the touchy feelies with the class throw me. So far I really like Jill Miller though the way she explains the move means that you actually get the affect of the move.
I think when your shoulder is better you will really like Lauren Brookes!

Tara - Janis is totally right. Do however much running that works for you!

Cathy - Hope your having a good conference!

MJ - Hope your having a good weekend!

Talk to you all soon

Happy Saturday Warriors!

I did LIC, the whole disc, today. It was the perfect workout for me today, light enough weights to rehab my shoulder, yet enough cardio to work up a sweat.

Heather - When I saw your greeting I thought it read - "Morning St. Warriors" I must be feeling somewhat saintly! Enjoy the weather and your rest day. I agree, completely, with the touchy-feely assessment of Bryan Krest. I can still hear him saying, "Poppppy". ICK.

Tara and MJ - I hope to hear from you both very soon.

Tomorrow I am going to do a Meso 1 legs disc and another round of the Jill Miller yoga shoulder dvd.

Baking bread today and doing the laundry. Fun stuff. Well, the baking part is rewarding at least.

:D

Hi Ladies,

My planned run on Friday didn't happen. :( I was supposed to have a short day at work with plenty of time to run after. Well, the short day turned into a long day! I ended up rested on Friday. Saturday, I did all of Drill Max. I hadn't done it in awhile & I forgot how much I love that workout!

Today, I'll be doing Athletic Step & stability ball abs. This coming week, I'll be doing 4DS all week. I've been in the mood to do that lately. Then, the following week, I'll get back to STS.

Heather, the kettlebells work-out sounds challenging! You're wetting my appetite! ;)
Low iron levels/blood count really does drop your energy. I remember when I donated blood last that it took like 3 or 4 days before I felt normal again. So, hopefully your appetite is ready for lots of spinach, meat & oranges!

Janis, Thanks for the encouragement with the jogging/running! I found out on Thursday that I have to do my fitness test 1 month earlier than I thought. So, that's will be May instead of June. Now I really have to get the running in so that I'll be ready. It's a 1.5 mile run, but I need to do it in 15 1/2 minutes or less. My endurance is such that I can run it, but for me to do it in 15 min or less, I can't go to a walk at all during the run. It's a challenge for me usually. But I'll be practicing the next 4 or 5 wks big-time!

Cathy, hope you are enjoying your weekend!

MJ, Thinking of you!

I'll plan to see you all tomorrow!

I'm back :D I had a fabulous time and we managed the volunteer thing ok. There are always people willing to step in, in a crunch. We are all over the state and only get together for the conference in the spring and then a one day workshop in the fall, so when we aren't in sessions we are bouncing around chatting and catching up.

Friday morning before I left I did MMA Boxing and I must have pushed harder this time, because the next morning when I headed out of my room with my basket of things I needed for the day, my shoulder groaned in response and when I tried switching arms, the other shoulder agreed with it. ;)

I haven't completely worked out what I'm doing this week yet for workouts, but I'll try and figure that out after I've had supper. I will have a busy week(s) coming up though as I've got a volunteer project that has turned out to be a really big mess that I'll be attempting to straighten out...bit by bit and piece by piece, because at this point I'm pretty clueless about the whole thing.

I'm loving the beautiful, sunny, 60 degree day here! Especially after having driven through blinding snow Friday on my way north! Fortunately, it was just in the air and not sticking on the road. I'm now hoping I'm officially DONE with snow until.....Christmas Eve. :p

I'll catch up with you all more tomorrow!
