Two Questions: Adjustable Dumbells, Flooring

Hey everybody,

I am making a move very soon to a small apartment. I now share all of my workout equipment with my mom, so I'd like to leave a good chunk of it with her.

First question: I am interested in the adjustable dumbells, but I'm not sure where would be the best place to get them, or exactly which kind to get. They are VERY steep in price, but if it's worth it, I'll get them when I can. Anybody have them to share some info/advice with me?

My other question: Flooring. Does anything exist as a temporary flooring to work out on? Something I can roll out and roll back up? Or is that just wishful thinking? I'm afraid that if I start scuffing things up or making a mess, my fiance might kill me!

I think that's it for now :)

Hi Sara...can't help you with the flooring, but I can with the dumbells.

I got the Bowflex Select Tech Dumbbells 552. They go from 5 lbs to 52.5 lbs. I have not ever regretted this purchase and use them about every day. I'll post a link that shows you the different range of dumbbell sets and some other stuff...for these you will probably pay close to $350-400, and if you use Ebay they could have some there too....:)

Thank you! I'll check that link out, and ebay is a good idea.

I have another question about them... is the change from one weight to another quick?

Hi Sara,

I also just got the bowflex select tec. I got them from the Bowflex website and got the 2.5 to 20lbs. I figured it would take me some time to get to the point of being able to use a 20lb dumbell. I love them. You do have to set them back in the holder to make the adjustment and it takes a time or two to get used to witch way to turn them but over all they are very easy and fast. Not as fast as picking up individual ones but less stuff to have to get out and put away. They were on sale for $149. and my fitness store could not even match they price.

I also have the Bowflex ones and LOVE them. They are pretty quick, but obviously not as quick as picking up a dumbell. There is one workout of Cathe's I was doing (I think one of the new ones?) where you get a weight, then a different one, then back to the other one, and so on and that was difficult b/c you have to put them back in the holder and dial up your different weight. But I still love them and wouldn't trade them. They're great if you need to save space. I just kept needing to buy heavier weights so DH finally bought me those. :)

Thank you very much for the info. I think you guys sold me on these ones. I'll check out ebay and sales. I've spent a ton of money over the years on dumbells, so even the original price is still worth it.
