I don't have a pullup bar and can't have one in my house. Do you have to have this or a turbo tower for the STS Total body DVD workout? I don't want to buy it and not have the right equipment. tia for any info

No need for a pull up bar in Total Body. You need dumbbells, barbell, band, slide disc or plate. That's it!

Oh, that's great, I must have read wrong. What do I use on a carpeted surface for the slide disc? Where can I find one that will work on Berber carpet? tia :)

Here is what they have written on the back of the dvd:

Equipment needed for this workout is a full-sized step (or workout bench), a Turbo Tower (or a pull-up bar), a weighted barbell, dumbbells, a resistance band, and a sliding disc (or paper plate).

I won't be able to have a pull-up bar unfortunately, or is there another exercise I can instead?

You only need the tower for holding the barbell during chest press, for example. Not for pull ups. It's convenient to have the tower there when the bar is so heavy. You'd want to go lighter with your bar just to be safe if you don't have the tower. For the disc I use a large size furniture slider. I got four from Walmart for $7 in the hardware section, but plastic disposable dinner plates work well too.

I don't know why it says a pull up bar because you don't need it for this workout. ?? However, you can always sub resistance tubing with the door stopper attachment to do pull up work. The ones I have are Spri. I did that for a long time before I got the tower.

Oh my gosh, I'm an idiot. The pull ups are the last part of the workout! I'm so sorry! How could I forget that?! Anyway, you could just use tubing for those. I can't believe I spaced those! This is my brain on cold medicine. :)

Could you tell me how you would use the tubing exactly? I've never done a pull up lol
I'd like to take advantage of the 30% off sale for the STS series but not if I can't do all the exercises. I have dumbbells, balance ball, resistance band, kettle bells, curl bar and a stepper.

The tubing comes with a black nylon loop that has a rubber plug on one end. You thread the tubing through the loop, hang the loop over the top of a door with the the tubing on one side and the rubber stopper on the other. Shut the door, and then you've got the ability to sit on the floor and do a pull up substitute by pulling the tube toward you. The stopper will keep the tubing secure. Deazie uses the tubing in the STS videos to show you how to do it. It sounds like you have everything you need! A barbell would be beneficial, but dumbbells will certainly get the job done. I love STS. I'm so glad I got it!

Thank you so much for your help and quick responses. I am so excited, I noticed a little earlier that there was 30% of the STS package and so I bought it! I think, as long as hubby says we have room, I'm going to grab her push/pull tower bar. I can't wait now. :)
