Tummy postpartum...

Cathlete
Hello educated Catheites. I am 5 weeks postpartum-I had a baby boy. I am wondering how long I should expect before my baby pooch goes down. I still have one at 5 weeks postpartum-is that normal or should it be gone by now?? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your new little one! I am 4 weeks post and I still have my pooch, although it is getting better each day. But if you still have weight to lose ( like myself) then I would think we need to lose most of that before our stomaches look taunt again.
I would definitly give myself more time. Our bodies have been through alot in the last 9 monthes, we can't expect everything to return to normal over night....although that would be nice:)

How's your diet? Eating clean is the key to loosing that post=prego pouch. I found eating-clean (no refined carbs or potatoes, bread, rice) was my quickest return to my pre-prego body. Eating complex carbohydrates such as fruit and wild rice and yams (and of course skim milk) were my sole resource of carbs.

Like mentioned earlier, it takes time. With clean eating & disciplined exercise I was able to get my body back within 12 weeks of each delivery...but each body is different. Enjoy EVERY moment with your little one. ;)

Congrats!!! At 5 weeks your uterus hasn't even returnd to its normal size, and your prob still retaining fluids...so yes, its defintley normal! It took awhile (dont remember exactly how long, just that it seemed like forever!)for me to loose that bloated look with both of my babies. Hang in there!
