TTC & Preggers - Week of May 4

Cathlete
Lisa, I hope DS gets feeling better. Take care of yourself too! Try to catch a nap today.

NOthing unusual for us today - church this AM, rest of the day is up in the air.

Have a good one!

Kate - I am so ready for a nap and I just woke up! I got up almost every hour because ds was up.

Anyway, no big plans for today since ds is sick, but I need to take dd to the store to get her make-up for her ballet recital. It'll be nice to get out of the house. I actually jumped on the scale this morning to see how much I've actually gained and so far 5 lbs which is less than I thought. Tomorrow will be 14 weeks for me. I think my energy is coming back, yay!

Lisa

Lisa, I had a pleasant surprise on the scale this week too. I'm 16 weeks y'day and I've gained 6 pounds. I was shocked. Glad energy is up for you. I'm really tired today so likely skipping exercise.

Anybody else SOOOOOO excited for Moms Day next Sunday? I am!!! I'm hoping for some new wellies from JCrew. I've been dropping lots of hints. We'll see... My old ones have some holes in them from lots of use. I wear them all the time.

Hi everyone--

I think pregancy is making me bipolar or something. I'm so up and down. My back felt much better this week, so I got in a number of workouts in addition to a lot of gardening. Tomorrow we will have a whole bunch of compost delivered so we get to move that from the driveway to the back yard. This is where an almost 14 yo boy comes in really handy:p.

My workouts:
MM
4DS LIS cardio/Garden Max (1.5 hours)
GS CT
Garden Max (2 hours)
GS BSB/BM 2 43 min cardio premix/Garden Max (1.5 hours)
45 min stationary bike

My oldest son told me I was the buffest mom in church, which was sweet, because I'm really a fat pig now, but I'm as strong as ever underneath. He wants me to start him on a weight training program, so that he can get even stronger for wrestling, which is his sport of choice. My husband is an ecto with mesomorphic tendancies and I'm an endo with mesomorphic tendancies, but I think my son is going to be pure meso--lucky him. I'm looking forward to seeing how his body responds to weight training. We are also going to do lots of interval/plyo work this summer to increase his cardio capacity for wrestling. (well, I'm not, I'll be directing...) I think it's kind of cool that he's not embarrassed for me to help him. The girls want to participate too, but just cardio and calisthenics for them. They are not old enough to weight train.

Okay, enough with my solilquey.(sp?)

Kristan--your house is gorgeous. What an amazing before and after transformation. I am actually digging up sod in the yard to make room for garden plots. It is a lot of work, even when one does have a cooperative dh and a useful boy. I love your statement that there is no greater gift to a child than a sibling. Our kids certainly see it that way, which surprises me a bit, because they do without a lot of what other kids get to accomodate our growing family. Oh and one more thing--my husband would love that midieval looking cellar you've got there.

Kate--what's funny about the 2 year old is that the banana was sqished up right next to the tv where the 2 older sisters were playing a video game--yes, they can focus! We have a hilarious (we think) picture of the three oldest kids playing a video game with a huge turd that a younger sibling layed down in the foreground. The kids did not even notice, even with the stench....needless to say, we do limit video game time at our house or who knows what might happen? 28--you are so young!:)

Morris--I'd say if your friend wants to throw you a shower let her. When people are really insistant, I'd say just let them do it. I did. and nothing like the electronic baby sitter for the kids whilst you workout. I get dvds from netflix and that helps distract the little ones and makes the job of the big kids easier whilst I workout. I recently bought a collection of classic stories (100 of them) from amazon for some guilt free tv. They are lightly animated and true to the original text.

Lisa--I'm sorry that there is illness in your home. I hope you don't get it. Get some sleep if you can. Congrats on the very small weight gain.:) I will not stand on a scale again until I am post partum. I think it would send me into a tail-spin of depression. Okay, I'll stand on one at my appts, but they can't make me look, so there and I'll plug my ears so they can't tell me either:p Anyway, you're doing great in that department.

Hi Anne, Hi Jen, Hi Lurkers

take care all
Maggie
24 weeks, 6 days

Maggie, Your posts about your kids are cracking me up! Funny on the poop story!! LOL! That is very cool sabout DS coming to you about weights. Nice complimetn from him too! Does your DH workout? Hope you and your fam have a good week!

hi everyone

kate, your family sounds neat with the age split.how fun! you and lisa both have such little weight gain, i am jealous! i porked up 10lbs in 12 weeks but am now hovering at 18 overall. that is what i ended up gaining with ds#1, so i will be interested to see if i manage to put on any more. wellies sound nice. i am not sure what we will do for mothers day.

lisa, i hope you got lots of napping in, but your day sounded busy. is ds better? you, too, must be so tiny! it is a pleasant surprise to get on the scale sometimes:)

maggie, awsome workouts. i did mm for the first time today (just ordered it) and really like it. i love me, but muscle max is a fun change. that is a really nice compliment your son gave you. can you explain to me what ecto, meso, and endo mean?

we set up ds's new room with a borrowed crib and big boy bed. he will sleep in it tomorrow night i think. we had a fun but rainy weekend. yesterday i ate wayyyy too much choclate and sweets - gave me nightmares. today was really clean, though, so i hope to sleep well. in my next life i will not havea sweet tooth. today i ran 8 mil and did muscle max - felt great! now to bedmax.

Hi ladies - Glad to hear you're all doing so well! Sounds like the workouts are going well too!

Not too much new here. Just waiting to see the Dr. this Friday and hope they have the test results back for me. Took a pregnancy test today and it was negative, so hormone levels are back to normal.

DH and I are throwing caution to the wind and just trying without having a normal cycle. I've always waited 2-3 months with the other m/c's, but we know my problem is with the genetics and not my lining or anything. It usually takes us 8-12 months to get pregnant, so I don't really want to wait. ;-)

We're looking at a used car online and it's in Las Vegas, so we're hoping the guy calls us back tomorrow, so we can take a mini vacation out there and maybe drive it back. We're cheap and don't like to have a car payment, so looking for a good used economical car that's good on gas.

Just lurking these days...but I'll be back!

Maggie - That's so cute about ds asking for your help. I've been on a weird depression mood the last week or so. These pg hormones can really send me whacky also so you're not alone.

Morris - Wow, 18lbs overall! I gained 25 lbs with my first 2 pgs. Glad you like Muscle Max.

Kate - Isn't your u/s right around the corner?

Anne - A trip to Las Vegas sounds like fun!

DS is still sick, but doing a bit better. I am pretty exhausted though. I am going walking in a bit and probably do some weights if I don't crash out.

Lisa

Morris, I hope DS's room transition goes smoothly! I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. You give me hope that I'll do well on the weight gain throughout.

Anne, SO good to see you!!! Been thinking about you. Go ahead and try! CAn't hurt! How is it going at Snap? Getting any pullups in? Hope you get a break to Vegas. Hey, maybe you'll conceive there and you can name your baby Elvis!!! LOL!

Lisa, Sympathy pains on the sick kid - Gina is home from school today with a sore throat and snotty nose. SHe's sitting in a warm bath right now and I'll take her to the chiro later this AM. Hope the hormones lighten up for you! Yuck. I hate being out of control with my emotions. Sure beats PMS though. U/s won't be until the end of May. I want to know NOW!!!

I wanted to do a bunch of errands today but since Gina's home....grr. Thinking about dragging her along to a couple. She's not *that* sick. For instance if I offered to take them to the park I'm sure I'd get a big, fat yes!!

kate, lol about them not being "that" sick. i know just what you mean. and fresh air can be healthy, right? i am excited for you and your ultrasound.

lisa, hope this finds you more rested today. god for you for getting in a walk. i cannot manage sleepless nights when pregnant. will have to get back into that very soon, though;-)

maggie, hope the hormones are a bit better. do you find it is worse if you do not exercise? i think there is nothing quite like an exhausting cardio to chase the hormones away....

kristan, your home is just ebautiful. will it accomadate a 4th fairly easily? i feel fortunate we can accomadate another in our home. i wish we had more of a yard, but in a year, we will shoot for that.

hi anne - any results yet? good luck with the car. i 2nd what kate said - nothing to lose, right??

hi jen, hope you are well.

thank you all for your kind and enc ouraging words about having numebr 2. i feel much more peacfeul about it all today - seem to just go up and down. despite no choclate yesterday, i slept poorly - woke at 1:30am RAVENOUS. i hate that. but, i got in a great run this am and am looking forward to my day. bbl

Kate - My sidekick is not *that* sick anymore either and I'm dragging him with me to the store. Tomorrow is back to school!

Morris - You're so right about excercise helping the moods. I know that's a big reason why I've been moody. I finally feel good and ready to start upping my workout routine. It feels so nice not to feel nauseaus or fatigued all the time.

Since I'm stuck at home today, I'm going to do some Drill Max this morning. I still have to work from home, but I'll be doing errands and some relaxing in between. I am going to make this "day off" work out to my advantage!

Lisa

I just got through working out and I feel great! I can't remember the last time I was able to workout without trying to keep my last meal down. Being in the second trimester is wonderful! Okay, let's see if this energy lasts until the afternoon!

Lisa

Lisa - Nice workout and YAY for no more morning sickness! I hope this next trimester just flies for you.

Morris - No chocolate, stay strong. I'm totally craving it, but trying to be good and keep it out of the house. Still looking for cars and wishing I were on a plan to Vegas. I just want to get away from work. I still can't believe you're running 8 miles, you AMAZE me girl! Nice job.

Kate - Yeah, wish we were conceiving in Vegas. Elvis...you're too funny. Our first pregnancy we conceived in Jamaica. That was our first month ever trying and we got it right off the bat. Good luck at your next u/s! Snap fitness is going well, but it's getting hard to still go there when it's so nice outside! I mix it up and do outside, snap and my dvd's.

Hi Maggie - Happy to be back here with you all. How are you doing?

Well, it was 78 out today, so went for a 2-3 mile run and will do some ab work downstairs.

Got a + on the ovulation kit, so going for it these next few days. Just need to get DH home...;)

Anne

Morris, I would hate to wake up hungry. Do you give in or suffer thru it?

Lisa, Gina is going to school tomorrow too! yay! When you hold you tiny baby you don't ever guess that you'll say THAT! Glad you got a workout in and are feeling good.

Anne, So glad to hear from you. Have fun tonight!!!!}( }(

On Saturday I felt Baby move for the first time and everyday since then. I have to be sitting still to feel it but its definetly there. My 2nd was a wild woman in the womb! Hoping for another one like that - Best feeling in the world.

Hi everyone!

Kate--My husband does work out, he does some weight training, tae kwon do and hapkido. He runs when he has time, but he's a busy dad and husband. He is struggling with some sort of mysterious joint problem that renders him fatigued and in pain--arthritis of some sort we are thinking, but none of the tests are conclusive. The docs simply don't know what is wrong. He is a foreman for an electrical company and has a very physical job, so he's no couch potato for sure. Does your dh work out? And congrats on feeling the baby move. I love that feeling too.

Morris--this isn't a very scientific explanation, but ecto's (ectomorphs) are naturally thin people who don't gain either muscle or fat easily. Mesos (mesomorphs) tend to have a very athletic build--the one all we Catheites covet and build muscle easily. Endos (endomorphs) tend to hold on to more body fat and be more curvy--I guess that's the nice way of putting it. I have a very curvy, hour-glass figure even when I'm at a low body weight. I build muscle fairly easily, but I don't really have that "cut" look, even when I'm skinny.

Anne--I think it's great that you and dh are just going to go for it. Good news on the ovulation kit. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope it all works out with the car--I hate car payments too--we buy used, pay off quickly, and hold on to our cars until it's too expensive to keep fixing them.

Lisa--I'm glad you and ds are feeling better. It is so nice when the icky and tired feelings leave. I feel like a whole new woman these couple of weeks--welcome to the 2nd trimester.

Hi Kristan! Hi Jen!

take care, all
Maggie
25 weeks, 15 to go!

Anne/Maggie- we too buy used reliable cars and hold on to them. The only new car we've ever had is my minivan (Sienna)- and we plan to drive it into the ground.

Lisa- glad you're feeling better. any big "projects" planned?

Thanks for the kind words on our house. It was weird to see the pictures- our kitchen is usually totally cluttered. The newsprint version had more pix and pix of US- weird.

I only got in 4 days last week, but they were effective:

Tues- 4 mile run and core
weds- bento APX circuit #1- my legs hurt until saturday
fri- BM2 step/core
sat- gym cardio

Maggie, Yikes on DH's aches and pains. I'm sure keeping physical helps. My DH is a plumbing contractor. for years his job kept him active (who else can carry a bathtub up stairs with a railing?!) but now he's the bossman, wheelin' and dealin', and he gets almost no exercise. He looks great and actually has a better 6-pack than I do! But I do wish he would get back to lifting. Oh well. His arms are still bigger than almost anyone I know!

Kristan, Good for you with your WOs. I skipped Sunday out of pure exhaustion but so far so good this week.

I did Power Hour tonight and yesterday I did 4DS KB and Step Blast combos 1 &2 along with 30 min of Tracey Staehle's Core Blast. My abs hurt tonight!! That was awesome! Hoping to do some more core tomorrow (wed) - if I'm not still so sore.

Well, its very late and I should be asleep like my smart DH laying next to me!! G'night!

hi there everyone

i cannot remmeber if i checked in yesterday or just read posts!

maggie, thanks for the explanation. not sure what category i fall into:(

kate, i don't usually get up hungry, but i have not been eating dinner lately as i just feel full at night, no doubt due to baby. that works fine until 1 or 2 am, then i wish i had eaten:( great workouts the last 2 days - you go girl!! i am excited to get that core workout. did you order any others? i was thinking of powerstrike, though i am not sure what that is.

kristan, great workouts!!i find some weeks i have tons of energy, and other weeks no energy! cannot wait to have this baby!

well, i had a good dr visit yesterday. i am still 3.5 weeks behind but am growing, so no worries. i did body max 2 scrambled and 4ds all upper. my upper body was fried yesterday. this am i pushed thru a really ahrd run. not sure why somedays it is easy, and other days it isn't. it is beautiful here, though, and we have already been out for a walk and play time.

hope everyone has a good day

Kristan - Lots of big plans, but whether they'll happen or not is another story!

Kate - Sounds like you're getting your workout energy back! I'm not quite there yet, but a lot closer than before.

Morris - I'm glad you had nice weather. It's raining here right now.

Anne - Good luck catching that egg!!

Hi Maggie! Hi Jen!

Sorry for the really short post, but I have a headache and I am so stressed out from work to the point where I almost just want to quit. Anyway, I was planning on doing some workout tonight, but waiting for the headache to subside.

Lisa

Morris, ...said with lots of love....EAT your dinner, you wild woman!! That baby needs the food! I'd wake up starving too. What about at least a bwol of cereal or a sandwich? Glad you had a good appt and things are progressing.

Lisa, Yes, I am feeling much better. WOs aren't 100% what they were but at least I'm working out pretty much everyday. In fact I woke up at 5:30 this AM (something I NEVER do!) to do CoreBlast. IT was great. Had a nice shower too! Huge treat!! Sorry about the headache - those are awful. Did you WO or go to bed? I probably would've gone to bed!

I have a midwife appt this afternoon. I've gained a pound a week this month. I was hoping to do better but oh well. Total gain is 8 pounds. I'm 16 weeks, 5 days.

Have a great day!
