Hello Everyone,

I started a new thread for the week and anyone who is TTC, officially or unofficially, is welcome to join in! DH and I have been married for 10 years. I am a mother of two, 7-year old son and 4-year old daughter, trying for the third and last. I have been off bc pills for about a month and a half now. I had a miscarriage 5/06 at 12 weeks and am hoping for a healthy baby and pregnancy this time around. I am going to be 34 years old so hoping to get pregnant sometime this year. My goals are to stay in shape and maybe lose 2-3 lbs before conceiving, but I'll be happy no matter what. I currently am not on any rotations, but I was thinking of doing the November 2006 5-week rotation. I've been going between my Cathe workouts and P90X weight dvds right now. Please feel free to post your current family status (#kids, dogs, etc) and your TTC & fitness goals just to get to know each other.

A big CONGRATS to Melanie for her BFP!! Yay!! Hopefully we'll be seeing more of those in the near future.

I hope everyone is having a nice, relaxing weekend. We're supposed to go see Zodiac tonight since we missed the show yesterday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's posts!

Lisa

Thanks for doing this Lisa. I have found that even when people don't post, they READ the posts; you're an encouragment to many. This check-in has proven success. :D :D

Lisa, will you be doing temps and mucous changes? Oh, what does "BFP" mean? What type of things have you done in past? I have a good friend w/2 girls and despirately wanted a boy. Her and her DH did everything they could think of--diet, temps, refrain from sex,--you name in, they did it. Lo and behold, she's now 20 weeks pg with a boy---which is a double blessing b/c her DH was deployed last week to Afganastan.

Have a great week!

Hi Melanie,

BFP is Big Fat Positive as in your pregnancy test. I did not do anything special in the past to conceive since I got pregnant within 3 mos of both pregnancies. I'm hoping I won't really have to this time around, but I'm just waiting and seeing. I am thinking of temping though.

How are you feeling so far? Hope you have a great work week and it goes by fast.

Lisa

hi lisa
i am hoping to join your check in though i am not sure how likely i am to be successful right now. i am mom to one little guy - my 9month old, finn. i am exclusively breastfeedng him still, and i plan to wean him at 1 yr (unless he decides otherwise). i would love to have another baby as soon as possible but i am not cycling yet that i know of. we had a hard time getting pregnant (relatively speaking) and ended up getting a bit of help with hormones. i would love to get pregnant without help this time, but if nothing happens by the fall, i will probably look into hormones again. my ttc goals are really just to have a healthy pregnancy. as far as fitness goals, i am very fit but would love to lose a few pounds. i eat fairly healthfully but just too much. i am trying to watch my portions a bit, but i do find i need the energy to keep up with life:)

another congrats to melanie! i hope you are feeling great and are filled with joy

Morris,

Good to hear from you! I breastfed both my kids for 17 mos. I was planning on weaning them after 12 mos, but it was a slow process. It was mostly the before bedtime feeding that was hard to stop. If I breastfeed this time around, I'm just doing it until 12 mos for sure. How long were you guys TTC before getting extra help with the hormones? Are those the shots that you have to take? Did you do temping or anything else?

As far as fitness, sounds like we're in the same boat. I'm pretty fit and eat pretty healthy for the most part, but for some reason after my miscarriage, these 2-3 lbs seem to come and go. My muscle tone has increased and I'd like to think it's muscle weight, but who knows....I could just be wishing. I'm trying really hard not to be obsessed with the scale though and go by how I look and feel in my clothes.

Am I still welcome here?!?!!?

I just wanted to chime in about nursing. With my last two my ultimiate goal was 12 months, then take it from there. My 2nd was about 18 months when he was completely weaned (hung onto bedtime feedings), my 16 month old likes to "snack" on me sometimes throughout the day. Oops. It might be tougher this time around.

As far as fertility goes. It took us 10 monhths the first time around, 6 mos the second time, 1 month third time, and you know the story for this one! It seems as once your body gets into 'fertility' mode it's often hard to turn off! I know many women who needed fertility help...then got pg again months after 1st one was born!

As far as fertility meds go, there's Clomid which is usually first tried. It is often used first when a couple has 'tried' for 6 months. It is fairly effective, and VERY inexpensive ($30/month). It also significantly increases your chances of having twins!! I've secretly envied moms of twins!

There, I"m pretty opinionated this morning, aren't I?

i love getting different opinions, and of course you are always welcome, melanie:)

we "tried to get pregnant for 10 months, but i never cycled. not once. actually had to go back on the pill to cycle. clomid was an option, but we went the injectable route as my dr. recommended that, it was more closely monitored, and big reason, insurance covered it. my little guy was 29$ to conceive:) i am praying my body just remembers how to behave when i stop nursing as the nursing has gone so well, i have to have some level of hormones. we'll just see what happens. i too envied mom's of twins. not sure why, but i really wanted twins. now, though, with dh's schedule and having a little guy, one wouuld be perfect. which probably means i will have twins;-)

my goal with nursing has always been 1 yr, and i know now i can make that no problem. i will wean then, though, to hopefully make conception easier.

as far as weight etc, i agree lisa, we need to go more by how things fit. i have a lot of muscle and know that is part of why the scale is higher, but i am more comfortable a few lbs lighter. clean eating clean eating clean eating. i say that as i am poised to go get a snack;) on step at a time.

melanie, what is the story behind all the j's? i love the name jadon, by the way.

Melanie - Of course you're welcomed here! So my question to you is does it get easier with more?!?

Morris - Wow,no cycle? So does that mean you didn't even get AF?

Anyway, hope you guys are having a great day. I'm at work and getting ready to leave to pick up my kids from school.

TTYL!

Lisa

I"m glad you guys haven't kicked me out of here yet, see my other post for explaination. ;)

Lisa, I"m not sure if it gets easier with more...you expect more out of the older ones. If you had three kids all the same age it'd probably be harder? My 12 year old is a great help!

I wonder what all my mucous was from now? Maybe I'm beginning to ovulate? No period yet. I should know within a couple of days...

"TTYL" what is that? You must be the acronym queen, Lisa! ;)

Melanie, I just posted on your other thread, but I'm so sorry again. I think you are starting to ovulate because that's when I knew I was getting AF while I was breastfeeding. Once the mucous started, I got AF shortly after that. That's a good sign though!

TTYL is Talk to you later. And AF is Aunt Flo aka your period. ;)
I feel like such a computer/internet/posting dork now that I'm so acronym prone.

Lisa

thanks for the "af" explanation. and no, i didn't have af once i went off the pill to get pregnant. but whenever i am on the pill, af is nice and regular.
