Happy Sunday ladies!

I totally threw out my back yesterday when I was flipping over our mattress. I dont' know what I was thinking, but later in the day I started to get muscle spasms and everything on the right side of my back bad. I had to sleep on the floor on my side and I can't even turn over to the right. This really sucks. I don't know if I'm not supposed to even excercise because I feel fine when I'm standing or sitting. It's mostly the lying down. I'll probably go for a walk and see if my back gets better. All I know is that this stinks!!
If I didn't throw out my back yesterday, I would have gotten four workouts in, but needless to say I only got 3. I'm up for another clean eating challenge? Anyone in?

Lisa

hello ladies!

Lisa, I am sorry about your back. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Regarding supplements: vitamin supplements are a no-no.

I have big workout plans this week, so we shall see how it goes.

Autumn

Sorry about your back Lisa! That totally stinks!

I'm going to try to get into dr tomorrow. I had a ingrown nail on my pinky toe for a long time...when it gets uncomfortable I just reach in there & manually pull the whole root out. Well, the other day I did that & now it must be all infected. It's swollen & extremely painful. Urgh! I just hate to go to the dr!!!!!

I think I only got around to workout 3 times this week. I've been staying up until midnight just about every day though! Lots of internet work looking for a new job & place to live. It's a lot of fun. DH is in International Falls right now checking things out. I took tomorrow off (Mondays are my toughest days with the crew).

AF is done. It was lighter than the previous one...which made it easier. It did last a long time though...almost a full 7 days.

If you guys are ever bored and you want to look at my family, we have a family website:
http://monnie.photosite.com/
It's mostly just of the kids. ;)

Hope everyone has a great week!!! Have fun making those babies!!!!

good morning everyone!

lisa, i am so so sorry about your back. what a rotten way to start of the week. hope it feels better quickly. have you tried those heat patches for your back?

melanie, glad you are so excited about new opportunities - must be a sign!

autumn, what is the idea behind no vitamin supplements? i take calcium and prenatals. thanks for any info.

finn is doing really well at night. the second night (friday) was really tough - up every 45 minutes, but the last 2 he has woken minimaly and is easily persuaded to go back to sleep. yeahhhh! he is 11 months today and i cannot believe it. no plans to start any other nursing changes this week. one thing at a time.

good workouts last week - lots of running, some kickbox and some step.

have a good monday everyone

Melanie - Great pics! Thanks for sharing! I'm glad to hear your job seeking is going so well. Did you make a final decision yet?

Morris - Sounds like you're doing really good with Finn. I'm glad you had a good workout week also.

Autumn - I'm curious to know about the vitamins as well. You're just a wealth of knowledge!

Anne - I hope you're doing good. I see you're in your 2ww.

Ashley - Did you get to see your dr yet?

As for me, I went in to the dr. this morning for my back. I got more ibuprofen and hopefully it'll heal soon although he said it'll be like this for awhile and I need to take it easy with the workouts. So that being said, I'm going back to the gym to use the treadmill and elliptical until I can do higher impact things and weights. I apparantly strained my back muscles on my right side. Eugh, this is horrible. At least I got out of work today. I'm going to hit the gym before picking up my kids from school. I don't know if we're going to catch that egg this month. Between the infection and my back, who knows! Although I do know that I ovulated from the opks so we'll see.

Have a great Monday ladies!

Today was wonderful! I took the day off so DH could look at property. He found some land that would be perfect to build on--actually put an offer on it!! This is so exciting!

Today was wonderful in itself b/c I didn't have to deal with my co-workers and b/c I got to spend time with my boys. I went for a run this AM, took the little ones to the community park which is about 1/2 way/turn around point. We played for about 45 min or so, then I proceeded home. I hadn't realized I had to run against high winds home---it took almost an hour to walk home!!! So that was my AM.

We played some more, cleaned up...and then when my 13 year old got home we went to a Holiday Inn water park for an hour, then to IHOP for dinner.

What a WONDERFUL day!!! I only wish there were more days like this!

I made an appt to see NP on Wednesday for my baby toe that is obviously infected!!! Hopefully it won't fall off in the meantime, if it does I'll put it in some icemilk until Wednesday. :D :D

melanie, your e mail aounded positively beaming. i am so glad you found the land. do you have a builder or house plan in the works? what a big step, but so exciting. i told dh i'd love to one day build our home. may be a few years away. hope your toe feels better!

MELANIE (capitals for excitement yelling not the other yelling :)),
I browsed through your pics and your kids are ADORABLE!! I have tons of favs. You look fantastic too! I won't add the "for 3 kids" 'cause you just look fatastic period! I am thrilled y'all found land.

Lisa, how is your back? Take care of yourself and heal. Back injuries can be difficult.

Morris, glad Finn is adapting to the nursing changes. I was lucky in that my kids weaned themselves, but they make up for that ease in other areas. :)

Ok, the supplement question. Researchers have discovered over 12,000 nutrients... isn't that incredible? Anyway, nutrients are synergistic, so isolating nutrients is not nature's way. Nutrients work together like a symphony. Recent research is finding that supplements may be dangerous. Here are a couple of articles regarding isolated nutrients:

I'll try to post more later. I gotta get ready to take DD to dance.

Autumn,
I read the articles you mentioned and found them very informative. I pretty much don't take vitamins now, except for Folic Acid, Calcium, and Vitamin D. However, what do you do about prenatal vitamins and your doctor or CNM? Will they be likely to agree to this type of thinking? I know it depends on the individual health care provider, but any advice you have would be great.
Another quick question--what if you have a great deal of morning sickness and have a hard time eating enough to fulfill your nutritional needs?

Thanks for all the information:) Feel free to PM or email if it's more convenient for you.

I'm keeping an eye on all you ladies :7

Mattea

Hi Mattea,

You are welcome! Regarding the prenatals: You are correct that it depends on the woman and the health care provider. When I was pregnant with my last child, I was not prescribed prenatals. This is not uncommon in my area, which scares me to some extent. I have taken diet histories and not everyone eats as well as I, which my diet is not flawless. Anyway, I was seen in two OB practices and neither prescribed.

I will pm you some additional info.

Autumn

autumn, question for you, and hope it isn't too much info. is it possible to start having cm changes before af actually comes? for the first time in ages (before ds for sure) i am noticing mucous. is this a sign i might start cycling? thanks for any info you can provide.

Nope, not TMI. Yes, you may notice cm before AF. It could be a sign that you are going to start cycling. Some women experience more than one mucus patch and/or cylce before AF. If you have more questions, feel free to ask. You also email or pm me if you prefer.

Autumn - You are the go-to guru! Thank you for all your great info. and insight into things! I did actually hear about the vitamin thing after reading your articles. It's seems like a fine line in some situations though like the prenatals. I didn't take much prenatals with my dd and she turned out fine and I was okay, but like you said diet also makes a difference.

Morris - OOOH...you're probably going to ovulate. If I recall, that's what happened to Melanie!

So I'm officially on my 2ww. Didn't get much deposit time because of my back, but let's hope that one sperm makes it! I went to the gym the other day to get some cardio in. I can't wait for my back to heal completely. Probably go walking tonight and the gym tomorrow morning.

Have a great hump day ladies!

Lisa

Lots and lots and lots of CM prior to first AF after pg and nursing.) Good luck!!!!

Relocation Update

The party accepted our bid on the land! I haven't seen it yet, but DH said it's beautiful (12+ acres and you can see Canada across from our waterfront).

Tomorrow we're going to the area so I can interview/check out area pharmacies.

We secured the financing, and we're hoping to finish the primary floorplans for or loghome by the end of next week.

It's all very exciting and nerve wrecking. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we proceed on our great adventure!

RE: Relocation Update

I guess I won't take vitamins anymore or stress over my husband taking them! Thanks fo the info. I went to the Dr., he said he does not think there is anythig wrong, sometimes it just takes some people longer to get pregnant. He said there are some tests they can do and if we wanted I could get them done. My husband and I talked about it and decided to give it some more time before any tests.

Great news on the land, Melanie! My husband and I want to find some land and build but we can't just yet. That is very exciting.

Lisa, what part of your back did you injure? Is it doing any better? I used to have problems with my lower back (from a car accident)and went to physical therapy and chiropractors. With time it healed. I don't have any problems anymore but I know how fustrating it can be. I hope your back heals quickly.

I'm almost finished with week 2 of Fitness Freak's January rotation. I really like it. Are any of you currently doing a rotation or had any success wih a particular one?

Have a great Friday!

Ashley

P.S. What is 2ww?

RE: Relocation Update

Congrats Melanie!

Ashley - 2ww is two week wait as in waiting for the two weeks after ovulation to see if you're pregnant or not. I injured my right middle back. It is a lot better, but definitely not a hundred percent yet. I'm so glad that your dr. was optimistic. Going the natural route sounds like a good plan. I did one of Fitness Freak's rotations and really liked it. It was one where almost all the workouts were an hour or less with mostly the new dvds and it was perfect. I saw results as well.

I am not on any rotation nor have I worked out much this week because of my back. Funny how I hardly eat as well. I feel like I eat so much more when I'm working out 4/5 times a week. My weight has maintained and I'm like not very hungry. I can't wait to get back to excercising though. It helps relieve stress for me.

Hi Morris, Autumn, and Anne! Anne - Hope you're having fun in WI!

Lisa

RE: Relocation Update

Hi ladies. I'm in the Northwoods right now. I saw the land yesterday and it's beautiful. Lots of potiential.

DH and I were discussing how much we like the land, and if no jobs 'click' right away that we can just sit on the land and build a little cabin for vacations or something?

So, we got into town late yesterday and I wasn't able to actually look at any pharmacies. One of the owners came to hotel lobby and we talked for about 1 1/2 hours about our professional goals and to see if our personalities would work well. They did! I really want to work at this 'ma and pa' pharmacy over a small chain type pharmacy. He invited us over for walleye dinner tonight (and I was thinking to myself, that's really nice but you don't want me to bring my DH and 3 wild testosterone-filled boys to your nice home). We woudn't take no for an answer....so this will be interesting!!!!!!

In the meantime, I will go to a neighboring bigger city to interview for a position this morning. This interview is just to keep my options open.

Anne, what are you doing in WI? What parts are you at?

Lisa, I don't eat as much when I'm not exercising either.

Ashley, I don't follow roations very often. Right now I'm mostly running/jogging around. I've made some of my own rotations when I was trying to lose weight after I had baby Jadon

Morris, how's the bf weaning going? Still a lot of CM changes? Prior to first AF mine was very thick (almost had to wear liner), and I had patches of driness for a couple of days, than the same thick stuff over again. It was strange.

Autumn, I haven't had a chance to read your articles, but will soon.

Well, off to look at jobs. :) TTYL
