Trying to Fit Yoga In Wed Jan 24

Good morning!
The ankle is better. Much less swelling, I can move it around, and it doesn't hurt as much. I still have it wrapped and will do the ice again to be sure. Of course still no jumping around on it, although I want to! LOL! I have SERIOUS DOMS from yesterday !! YIPPEEE!! Usually my DOMS don't hit till later in the day, but I woke up with these. Every UB muscle. Even a little in the abs. I am pretty darn proud getting that good of a WO with one good leg! hehe.

So today, I might try to do LB floor work. I have to play around and see what I have. Nothing with pressure on the ankle of course, which means no hamstring presses. I will also do the rest of the MTV Pilates too. Might not be till tonight though as I have my niece today. Canceling my walk today too, which sucks since tomorrow and Fri are supposed to be wicked cold again.


Jen- I matched Cathe's weight in all the moves yesterday except the shoulder presses. The second round I had to drop to 10#s. I have noticed that with my shoulders, some days I got it, some I don't!LOL! It is a tough WO, but I feel so good after it.
That is so cool that your DH works out with you. Even if he bailed on you yesterday! Atleast you did the WO. Glad your PC is fixed.

Hi All! I am home from work today, but DH and I are taking both bassett hounds to the vet this morning for their yearly exam. I would rather be at work. They usually embarrass us pretty badly...poop and pee all over the waiting room. We will be taking a roll of paper towels and some grocery bags this time. You would think that this happens all the time at the vet, but it always seems like the staff looks at us like it doesn't. After that, DH goes to the eye doctor. So, lots of running around. Not sure what workout is on tap for today, depends on if DH is working out...if not, I will try to do some cardio. If so, we will be doing one of the S&H series.

That's weird, I typed a REALLY LONG post this morning and Meg must have been posting around the same time and the post disappeared????

I have to go take my typing test at the hospital, so I'll have to type it later. DArn.........I responded to everything from yesterday too!!

Here's my workout from today: (copied from Hardcore) and I'll be back later for my long note to Jen. Also, what did you do to your ankle Meg???

I ended up doing MM warm up followed by Body Max Upper Body x 2. I then did Muscle Max Lower Body Premix and Core/Stretch segments. I wanted to add firewalkers to the end, but I forgot until it was too late. Total weight workout was 1 hour and 25 minutes and I burned 425 calories. That was a good upper body and leg workout.....so I should feel it tomorrow. It felt challenging today. I'm not really sure I'm feeling well. I still have this sinus thing going on and need to call the doctor later to see if he wants to give me another course of antibiotics.

I also did the 30 minute yoga segment on Yoga on Demand and it was a lovely Hatha yoga practice with a good balance of poses.

Have great workouts ladies. I've got to try to get a hold of the hospital to schedule a typing test for that job I applied for. It requires that you type 45 WPM......and I know I can type at least 65 when I'm real nervous. My normal typing speed is about 77 WPM...so it shouldn't be a problem. I also have to go to the dentist later and try to get my cat in the vet for a cortisone shot. She chews her belly ...allergies or something.
 
Err...went to the hospital for my typing test and they couldn't get the computer to work, so I have to reschedule. Also took my cat to the vet.

Jen - I really haven't had time to read and I'm not sure I will...as I'm trying to do extra yoga, workouts and maybe some Pilates? What do you mean START an active job search....already had 1 interview yesterday and applied for that job at the hospital. I started searching the evening I was terminated.

RE: Those DVDs you mentioned, I have all of those. Do they send you the band with the T. Webb one? Some day - I'll have to start doing a couple of my old ones a week.

RE: the Kundalini meditations and blocks. I'm sure I have tons of blocks! I don't know if doing Kundalini 3 hours a day could help me!! I tried 1 meditation a long time ago for people with addictive tendencies....and it didn't really work. I guess I'm hopeless. I shall look into the one you mention though as I need shoulder/neck release.

Meg - what did you do to your ankle?
 
I sure wish Karin would find her way back here. I wonder why she's around but she's not posting on our thread. Maybe she fell off the "yoga wagon"??

I'll probably do some yoga again later......either Kundalini or other. I want to try my Bryan Kest audio's cuz they look really good but they're 90 minutes!!
 
I ended up doing Ravi & Ana's Yoga Beauty Body. I've never done this entire DVD (only have done it in segments). I really enjoyed it. Lots of breath of fire and we did plough and shoulderstand.....which I've been loving lately. Who can get their toes on the floor behind their head in plough pose? My DH saw me doing it and made a comment about the fact my toes were touching and said his back is too tight to do this. I'm finding this feels very good on my back and in Kundalini you do it with breath of fire. I loved it. Also like the Rag Doll one in this.

Jen - I even did the mediation at the end where you lie on your stomach and "play" your fingers saying "Sa Ta Na Ma"..........and it was actually a bit relaxing. If your DH sees you doing this one, he'll think your strange for sure....between all of the breath of fire, playing your fingers and doing Sat Kriya! My DH has a fit when I do breath of fire. My cats used to freak out when I do it, but now they are used to it.
 
I managed a WO. I did the floor work from B&G, using my ankle weights. I did not do the hamstring roll-ins or ham presses. But I did do the glute squeezes on the ball (I think from DM), and I did seated leg extensions on the ball. I then did MTV Pilates leg segment, then did Rainbeau Mars Yoga Dusk, the inversions, savasahna, then teh bonus WO eliminating the downward dogs. I wanted to do more yoga, but I am still a little swollen, so not pushing it.

OK, I'm back from my day of running around. DH & I did S & H Legs and Shoulders. I was really strong on legs tonight, matched or increased over Cathe's weight, which is a shocker since I hate working legs. My shoulders were so off tonight. I cannot figure out what on earth I did to work them or fatigue them since last week. I'll need to look at my calendar.

The vet was all the drama that we thought it would be, but at least the dogs are healthy and it's over for another year.

Lora-Bummer that your long post disappeared!!! Did you cover everything today that was in it? Nice combo of BMax and MM-I'll have to try those together. I can never think of that stuff! I am sure you will ace that typing test! I'm not as fast as I used to be, probably somewhere in the 50's, since I do more spreadsheets x( than straight typing these days. They did not send the band with Tamilee's WO, so I improvised w/ my green band and an Xertube. I miss Karin, too-and everyone that used to post here really-each had so much to bring to the table. I thought Yve would be back after the holiday. And Julie always pops in at just the right time, with just the right wisdom. I'll have to check out the story you mentioned on the Hardcore thread-I usually keep up everyday with it but since my computer glitch I am about two weeks behind on all the Hardcore news. I have done the sat ta nam ma meditation but not w/ DH in any sort of awake state. He may surprise me though-he hung in there on Breath of Fire from Gurmukh's WO.

Megadoo-Yea!!!! :) :) Ankle is better!! I bet you are giving one HUGE sigh of relief over that! I know how tough those WO setbacks can be, so that is wonderful news! (I'm doing a dorky celebration dance for you right now :D) I was wondering why I felt so weak in the shoulders today then I reread your post saying the same thing, so I guess we have that in common. It's exactly like you said-some days they have it and some days they don't. I haven't done the MTV Pilates but have it in my Netflix queue-how do you like it? I am actually getting used to DH working out with me. I wasn't wild about it at first, but it feels strange to me on the days he doesn't work out now. We are now running into the problem of needing the same size dumbells at the same time. Now that he is getting used to the WOs, he is ready to start lifting heavier-and I have been hogging all the heavy weights lately-as you know we Catheites tend to do! :D We also only have body bars that go up to a certain weight-at some point he will need a barbell. We are trying to determine at what point to make these investments, considering he has not been very committed to exercise..at least in the 11 years we have been together. My God, did I just type 11 years. :D That reminds me I said I would have something on Picturetrail by Feb 1. I better get crackin'.
