Morning Ladies -
This morning I did Michelle Dozois' Best Body Circuit. Workout was 69" and I burned 375 calories. The DVD is actually 60"...but it took me longer with weight and band changes, etc. That's the one thing I always miss about Cathe's workouts.....she always gives you time to grab a different weight. I don't like when instructors use the same weight or band throughout....cuz how many people could get a great workout in without grabbing different amounts of weights?
I also did Yoga for The Young at Heart (Don't Laugh!!). I've had this DVD forever, but I couldn't bear to take it out and do it cuz my DH makes fun of all the old people on it (like me.....but with my severe mid-life crisis continuting......I can't look at it). I didn't really care for the instructor, set, or music, but I must admit the practice felt pretty good....but mostly because she eases her way slowly into the poses (you know ....for us old fogies!!) but I actually got into the pose a lot sooner than they did....so I was in poses for a long time....which is what I really need from time to time to really stretch out these stiff muscles. I added plough and shoulderstand to the end as well as lying twist and it made for a nice practice. Not strenuous...but there were a couple harder poses in here like Dolphin pose...so it was okay. I don't think I'll ever be able to do Cow Pose without modifying......hips are way too tight.
Speaking of Yoga.....during that Anusara practice the other day we massaged our feet and then sat in Hero's Pose and kneaded our feet with the backs of our fists. It felt soooo good. Have you ladies ever given yourself a foot massage? It's not normall something I do, but I really think it would be good to incorporate this at least once a week for circulation, etc. I wish I was one of those lucky ladies to have a DH that rubs their feet for them! Mine doesn't give massages of any kind.
Yve - I'm feeling a slight tinge of muscle soreness in my lower sides of my back.....which I think might be from the Pilates Ring workout...however, as expected, my legs are so fried from the standing climbs yesterday and this morning's weights to tell if they got any work. I guess it was better than I thought. I also noticed my abs fatigued quite easily during the ab segment on this morning's workout.
Kel - I love Kelly Coffey-Meyer also. Step Boxing is a great shorter intense cardio workout. It goes at a rapid pace. She's got a great on-screen presence. I really like her personality.
Jen - (laughing at myself -- I took notes from yesterday's post to to personals and next to your name, I had Pot written -- I'm thinking ....it's not about marijuana.....what is pot short for??? duh....I'm not getting any younger). Re: the mental toughness.....got this little tip from my Spinning DVDs. During a particularly difficult interval, you pick a point on the wall to stare at and repeat a mantra to yourself (you decide what to say) and repeat it over and over (out loud or to yourself) and it sort of really takes me into a mental zone where I can work harder and really focus. I used this technique on my own yesterday throughout the entire workout to help me stand longer during the standing climbs and work harder....and it amazingly worked very well. I will start doing this more often. Re: Jivimikthu yoga (spelling)..........sorry, but I haven't a clue what type of yoga it is. Maybe we can ask Yve. She seems to know that stuff. I'd research it, but I don't have time right now.....gotta go to foot doc in a bit. I've only seen it mentioned by various people at VF. RE: Pot -- LOL!! So ....when was the last time you smoked it?? Nah.....just kidding! Re: the Potpourri workout on Shape. I did do it once and liked it. I did it with another 1/2 hour segment and it added variety to the hour! I can't really remember it that much...but it was like 3 10 minute segments, and I know one was kickbox and I think another was an athletic drill type/plyo thing...but the last one escapes my mind.
Must get going....stuff to do before my foot appt.
