Trying to Fit Yoga In for Tues Jan 30

Morning Part Time Yogi's -

This morning I did Cardio Coach #7 on the treadmill & bike. I even did some of the challenges on the treadmill, so we'll see what happens with my sciatica. My legs are feeling pretty fatigued right now. That last challenge was tough. Total workout with stretch (from CC 6) was 1 hour 17 minutes and I burned 540 calories. I also did 70 minutes of Being in Yoga with Daryn Dewald.

This yoga DVD was okay. I liked some things about it and others I did not like. I really liked the finishing poses cuz we did variations in plough and shoulderstand that I've never done before. In plough, you stretch your legs over your head into a wide V and then bring the one leg to meet the other and you can feel the stretch move into the side of your neck and shoulder. It was cool. Also did different leg movements in shoulderstand. Since I've been obssessed with plough and shoulderstand lately.....this part was great!

Jen - I've only done each of those workouts you mention once. The reason I didn't care for both of them had more to do with where they fit in in your workout regimen or what to categorize them as? Cardio/strength???? rest day workout? I was baffled. I did the Budokon one on a day that I wanted a short cardio workout and short yoga and I didn't feel I got either that day. Maybe I should try it again and I'd like it, but the day I did it, my HR only elevated slightly. Maybe I'll try it one day this week since I have time. I have the advanced one also. I bought all of them cuz I thought they'd be advanced.

RE: Willpower & Grace - I thought the lady was strangely dressed also and wondered about all of the crazy jewelry and hats. I had the same reaction..........I did this and it didn't elevate my HR that much and wasn't sure how to categorize it. I guess both of them would be good to do on a recovery week? I don't know ....guess I'd have to try it again. I can't really remember it. Maybe I did them at a time I was getting crazy obssessed about high HR aerobics.....and now that I've been doing some lower intensity aerobics, I'd like them both......so I'll have to keep them in the back of my mind for future options.

Have great workouts ladies. I'm going to eat breakfast and get my shower. I'll be back later. Cold and snowy again today. I'm sick of this weather. I'm getting my hair cut later today. It needs it badly. Wish me luck as I'm going to a different place.

NEED A JOB!!!!!

My ankle seems alright after my WO last night, so hope it stays that way. I think today is full body, so I am thinking ME. I have another busy day, pulmonologist appt this afternoon too.

Lora- I think it is great that you have been getting in so uch yoga lately. I am sure it does your body good.

Almost forgot - for the BPAL Ladies -

The Dark Delacicies Valentine's Special Edition scent is up on the website if you want to purchase it. Here's a link: (This is from a special event Black Phoenix is having this weekend at the store).

http://www.darkdel.com/

Description of Oil: the embodiment of sinister sensuality. It is a heady and darkly romantic blend of devil?s trumpet accord, black orchid, tonka, coconut meat, fruit gums, osmanthus, smoky resin, myrtle, and Indonesian patchouli.

Hi all! I am feeling last night's WOs in the butt. Not really DOMS exactly but it did something.

Lora-Where did you find the advanced Budokon? I went to the web site (Bukodon.com) yesterday and it said there were no follow-ups available to the beginner WO, but some were "planned". So maybe I should try the Gaiam website?

Megadoo-Back to your WOs already?!? And CC at that! Be careful with that ankle!

Checked the tracking on my Turbo Jam's last night and they have made it in state-so maybe they will be delivered today! ;) I think I have a yogic arts DVD w/ Duncan Wong arriving from Netflix, too. This may be more martial arts/yoga combo-I am not sure. I told DH about how the Budokon WO was and he is like a five year old-just wants to walk around the house saying Budokon all the time-thinks it sounds cool or something. :)

Jen

Jen - I think the only reason mine is advanced is cuz it's longer? I'm not sure. I'll go down and look at them later...but I know I have 2 sets and I got mine from wwwCDUniverse.com. That would be great if they make some REAL advanced ones. I would definitely buy those. I like the concept....just a little too easy for me. I have both Duncan Wong's DVDs...he's a freakin' nut. I have the beginner one and the advanced one. I did the advanced one one Saturday (although Sat is usually supposed to be my rest day...so maybe I thought it was harder than it was??) morning and it was so freakin' hard and made me sooooooooooooooo sore that I never attempted it again. Now, you've got me wanting to do it......*rubs hands together with evil snicker*. I really need to start doing a couple harder yoga days in place of a weight workout, etc. I keep saying that.......but! Awakening Level is the beginner to intermediate practice and Source Power (the one I did) is intermediate to advanced. It has several premixes on it or you can do the entire 100 minutes. It is a blend of Korean Buddhist Gung Fu, Astanga yoga, and Thai bodywork. When this DVD was first discussed at VF, someone posted a link to an article about Duncan and his credentials are amazing. He trains Madonna too.........so you know he's gotta be tough. I can't wait to see what you think of it........I hope you got Source Power!!

Jen - I just had an idea! Maybe I can rent you DVDs/videos like Netflix! How much do they charge? Just kidding.......but heck it's a thought!

Just got a chance to peek in today. Still no yoga for me this week but I hope to fit some in before the weekend arrives. This morning was Imax 2 & it left me smiling all the way to work!

Jen - I didn't get a chance to reply yesterday... all 3 YJs done consecutively is about 50 minutes b/c I only do the sun salutations from the first workout & the savashana from the last. This is one of my favorite yoga routines to do.

Meg - So glad your ankle is feeling better & I just hope it stays that way. So you're planning on ME today? Great W/O! I'm planning to do full body weights tomorrow morning & trying to decide between ME Express & Supersets (which I haven't had very long so I've only done it once). What do you think?

Lora - Great job getting all that yoga in! I bet it makes you feel so good. You really have a huge variety of workouts & I hope to expand my library soon too. I'm thinking about getting a few Kelly Coffey DVDs & I know you have some so what do you think?

Well, have a great day everyone. I'll check back in later!

Kel

Kel - I love Kelly. She's intense. I tend to like a lot of different personalities and instructors......and I'm not a Cathe or the Highway person. Just saying, in case you get easily irritated by people. Kelly's pretty serious. She doesn't joke, but gets down to business. She does smile though....and she enjoys what she's doing. She moves pretty quickly. I usually complain about how much instructors pause....but with Kelly, I find myself pausing the DVD to grab a sip of water or change my weight......so it usually takes me slightly longer to complete her workout than what it actually is. Stepboxing is super fun....but some peeps on VF says that she moves to quickly for them. I do it on a lower step and I have no freakin' idea how Kelly does it on a higher step! NYC is a good workout also.....I actually like all of her stuff. I hope she continues to do this, as she only made the first 2 DVDs to raise money for her father's disease (research) and then the 2nd 2 she made cuz of overwhelming demand for more from her. I don't know if she's totally comfortable with being in the Video Fitness arena.....but lets hope it grows on her. I hear she's already talking about Step Boxing 2....so maybe we've convinced her she's too good at it to go back to teaching in the studio only.

The only type of instructors that I get easily irritated with are the ones who are too darn perky or happy about what they're doing. That's one thing I like about Cathe. Even though she makes the occasional joke, she still appears to be working hard & even acts as if it's difficult for her at times. But she also doesn't talk way too much at the same time, IMO. I don't care for Denise Austin, for instance, but I also have a lot of other instructor's W/Os that I really like & still do occasionally. I'm still new enough to Cathe that I tend to do hers more often but certainly not exclusively.

With all that said, it sounds like I would like Kelly Coffey & I was thinking about getting 3 of her workouts. But I can't remember all the names. One was NYC, another was Stepboxing, & the last one was another circuit W/O but I don't remember the name. I have them dog-eared in my latest Collage catalog, though, & if I plan to get them for my birthday in March (if I don't break down & buy them sooner)!

Thanks for the input!

Kel

Kel - Yes, that circuit workout is called The Shape of Things to Come and I acutally did that not too long ago when I was doing a lot of heavy lifting and never thought I'd get sore from it, but I did!! Maybe I need to do that one again soon.

Hi Lora, Jen, Meg, and Kel!

I did CC#3 today and had planned on doing Eion Finn's Quickie workout. BUT, I couldn't get my HR monitor to work and I ended up wasting 15 minutes fiddling with it. I am addicted to my HRM, but today it was a no go. I think the battery on the transmitter is dead.

Sssoooo, since I wasted all that time, I didn't have time for my yoga quickie:(

I have been eyeing Mark Blanchard's Sedona series for quite some time now....someone enable please. Actually, my birthday is at the end of February, maybe I'll send the link to good ole Mom.

Meg: I hope your ankle is feeling better. How did your doctor's visit go today?

Kel: I *HEART* IM#2...I smile throughout the entire workout:7

Jen: Any new food discoveries to share;)

Lora: Are you seeing any changes from doing yoga every day?

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was......TURBO JAM!! :) :) It finally came it! I really liked it a lot. Some of the moves felt a little silly, but I hardly own a WO where something doesn't feel that way, so I am just going on with it. The music was very good and Chalene was not nearly as annoying as I thought she would be....actually pretty down to earth. I did Learn & Burn, the 20 min WO and Turbo Sculpt which was about an hour total. My legs were sore from yesterday's WOs, so one or both of those WOs did a number on me. DH and I had a mini-argument tonight...he brought home bacon because it was buy one get one free...so he brought home 2 bacons!!!!!!! :( Just when I thought he understood and was on board. :(

Lora-Netflix is awesome!!! As much as you and your DH like movies, I really think it would be a "worth it" treat. I can't say enough about it-it's just so easy and convenient. The TJ WO had a short commercial for YBB-now I want that series, too! I watched a short preview of the Duncan Wong and he was doing lots of weird, very intricate arm movements during the breathing portion, with little to no instruction. It does not look promising. I will finish watching it tomorrow. I'm going to CD Universe to see if they have the Budokon WOs. It's weird, Gaiam says that WO kit (w/ 30, 40, & 50 min variations) IS a good follow up to the beginner's practice, but the Budokon website says it is NOT. WTH?!?

Meg-Hope everything was okay at Dr. appointment. Glad ankle is still doing well. Have fun w/ ME WO-love that one! Are you in the rotation now or is it still on hold?

Tammy-Latest new food-soy protein powder. Double yuck again!!!! I was using whey protein powder and it was awesome. I decided to try the soy-whoa...very different. (DUH, like the difference between soy milk and cow's milk.) I was on a body building site over the weekend that said you can combine protein powders to sorta blend the benefits...well that's what I will be doing! Going back to your DH 50 pounds overweight comment-I think my DH is about 30-40 lbs overweight-all belly. There's hope for yours that he may want to change one day. I have no idea what posessed mine to start WO after 11 years together...maybe I should ask him?

Kel-50 minutes of yoga-nice! How is the music on those YJs? Is that the WO set that is taught by Natasha? How do you like her personality. I can't stand Denise Austin either. And although I still have some of her workouts-Kathy Smith is a close second. (Her yoga series is really good and less annoying though.)

Jen

I managed ME tonight, with Chase. Connor bailed after the warm up. I did good with everything. Then I started some Kundalini yoga, for Beginners and Beyond with Ravi and Ana. I was doing the spinal series and got wicked sick to my stomach. I wanted to puke. I won't blame it on the yoga totally, cuz my stomach wasn't 100% before. Just didn't feel all that hot, but geez! i had to stop and then took a shower. Still feeling a little yucky. Weird.

Tammy- my apt went excellent. Everything looks great, catscan, and breathing tests, great. Go back in a year!

Jen- I am trying to do the rotation this week. Yesterday was supposed to be 70min cardio, and tomorrow is interval, so since I did CC last night, I think I will just switch those days, and keep the rest the same. I think anyway LOL!!
