Trying to Fit Yoga In for Tues Jan 23

Morning Part Time Yogis -

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning and face the day. I'm still in shock from what happened yesterday. I forced myself to workout.

I ended up doing Rebecca Small's Step to Success for with my own warm up and cool down. I did it on my higher step and kept repeating the segments to learn them better, as my mind doesn't seem to be functioning properly (too much going on up there). I ended up doing a total of 70" minutes of aerobics and then added Cathe's 10 Minute Stretch for the stretch. Total time with stretch was 1 hour 20 minutes and I burned around 537 calories.

I also did Bryan Kest's Original Power Yoga for Beginners - 30" followed by his Power Ab routine about 10". I added pigeon pose with twist variation, lying pigeon, plough and inversions to the end of this yoga DVD, as it had no hip openers and I felt I needed the hip openers with the amount of stress my body is under right now. Other than that, this was a pretty good short practice. I noticed he doesn't really do hip openers in 2 of the practices and only 1 lying twist. I guess it's good for variety and I seem to like his personality more in these than the first series. He seems warmer in these. He does talk a lot...but it doesn't bother me. He also instructs and does not do the practice with the students.

The 2 Audio practices - 90 min ones look really good. I can't wait to try the Long & Slow one. That looks amazing. 90 min is a bit long ....but hey, I guess I've got time this week!

My legs didn't really feel sore from yesterday except when I started stepping, I could feel them a bit. My abs don't seem to get sore from anything any more either.

I'm really depressed. I don't even want to get in the shower. You know it's pretty bad when you can't even say your prayers without crying.

Sorry to sound so down........but I still can't believe I have to go thru more of this crap. Life is really hard for me anymore. I don't even feel like I can go on.

Still having computer problems! (Pulling hair out!!!! x( )

Lora-So sorry about all that you are going through. There probably isn't anything I could say that wouldn't sound cliche at this point. I finished Gurmukh's book and it was awesome overall. I am even doing some of the meditation exercises, even though I feel a little silly, they seem to be working. Dig that book out, girl! Maybe you've got some sort of block going on and just need to figure out where it is and how to work toward clearing it. I know you will probably be full throttle on the job search pretty soon, but try to do some spiritual reading of some kind...I think it really helps! Sending some positive energy your way!

Hi all-have good days and WOs-will do my best to catch up later!

Jen

P.S.-Megadoo, take care of that ankle!

So, my ankle really hurts. Real nice. I am going to keep icing it today. I will try to do UB today. Maybe BM2 UB since alot of the moves are done on teh ball. I will play it by ear. Going to call my friend and tell her no walking today. Kinda of irritated that when I got there yesterday, she didn't feel like walking, and it was perfect weather. I wouldn't have felt so bad about my WO yesterday if we had walked. Oh well. Going to cancel my lovely *yearly* doc appt today too. Just lovely.

Jen- thanks! I will. Hope your PC smartens up soon!

Lora- ditto to everything Jen said! Maybe you should do more Kundalini and see if it helps at all. (((((HUGS)))))

WO done and it is hard to type, so guess I did a good job. i did BM2 Double UB premix 72 min, and then did MTV Pilates ab segment. WO was like 1hr20min. I did everything on the ball, and the pushups on my knees and just stood on one foot for the kickbacks. Not really easy. I also had to modify the side planks and snow angels. Pretty funny, but I did it. Now I am going to shower and then ice and elevate again.

I ended up doing 25 minutes from Ravi & Ana's Beginners & Beyond, Rise and Spine segment. I think I fell asleep towards the end of it ...sort of. I will probably try to do some yoga after my weight workout in the AM.

OK! Computer is finally back up and running, so I can post a little more often again. ;) Tonight's WO...SUCKED!!! DH bailed out on me, so I did one I got from Netflix...Tamilee Webb's Defy Gravity. The toning section is good but the cardio is bad. It is geared toward "older" adults anyway, but even the least bit of cardio challenges me, so I thought I would really like it. She keeps the moves fairly simple, but they are not well sequenced and her cueing is suboptimal. The workout is beautifully filmed; however, and Tamilee looks really fantastic, whatever her age. I got a taste of what firewalkers must feel like..I liked it...so I better get ready to break in Butts and Guts finally. To catch up, on Friday I did Cindy Crawford's Shape Your Body. Again, sooooo old...I have the VHS version, but I can't seem to get rid of it. I really feel like I worked my butt off for the short time, since Radu the trainer counts like he's on speed the whole workout. Saturday was Supersets with DH and he also worked out with me on Sunday doing an old Kathy Kaehler WO, Target and Tone. Monday's WO was Slow and Heavy Chest and Back. I was all excited because I stopped on the way home to buy a set of 25's and used them for everything in the WO except the chest flys.

Lora-My favorite quotes from Gurmukh's book are "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." That one's my very favorite. Sure makes it harder to get mad at people when you think of it like that. My second favorite is "If you cannot see God in all, you cannot see God at all." I have been doing the meditation that increases your radiance, I think it's from the last chapter. I am doing that before I go to sleep at night. It's the one where you breath in 3 times evenly and say "Sat Nam" (I say this to myself, don't want to scare DH) and then turn your head and exhale and turn your head back to center and say "Wahe Guru". Then repeat to the other side. After about three mintues, I can feel the tension release out of my back and shoulders. No other "woo-woo" effects to write about yet...but the relaxation is enough of a benefit-anything that can quiet this chattering mind!

Megadoo-Oh my goodness about your ankle!!!!!! That sucks!!!!! I have been close to doing that sometimes myself-step is sooo evil!!!! What a bummer about your friend cancelling the walk...just when you were ready to add it to your routine! I love that double UB WO from BMax 2...can't wait to introduce DH to that one }(...He already asked me last night if Cathe was a robot-I told him he has no idea how many times she gets asked that question, not only about herself but her crew, as well! If I remember correctly, last time you did the WO you were able to increase your weights-are you still at the same weights this time?
