Morning Fellow Yogi's.
This morning I did Tae Bo Amped Fat Burn Accelerator followed by Amped Core Express (skipping w/u). Workout was a total of 1 hour 20 minutes and I burned 540 calories. I grabbed the wrong core workout...meant to do the one where they lie down and use the weighted bar for part of it.....but that must be on the Rockin' Abs DVD. I also did Raji Thron's Yoga Synthesis - Prakasha Vinyasa 70".
Not sure if anyone's interested in Tae Bo Amped or not...but I'll give my brief opinion (if I can be brief..LOL). I have not done a Tae Bo Live workout for years.....and I'm in much better shape these days.....so I'm not sure I can compare the intensity accurately (without doing a Tae Bo Live soon).
I wanted a pretty good cardio today, so I actually had to add some intensity to this to make my HR climb high enough. I simply ran or did a boxers bounce when doing the weight moves with the Amped bar, as well as did double timed moved when they go slow and I had a very good workout.
These DVDs are basically cardio with slower, controlled movements using the bar which is usually followed by an Amped Up version of the same exercise (much quicker pace). The bar can be closed to use in the short length in one hand for one armed moves and it opens up to 2 longer levels and is like a body bar but only weighs 3 pounds. I liked it when we used it extended...however using it in one hand and doing punch like moves....3 pounds is a bit much on my shoulder (I think) so I used lighter dumbbells in some of the one armed moves. If you really wanted a better weight workout....when he does some of the slower moves, you could easily use a heavier body bar or dumbbells for a more weight oriented workout.
So - I think this is a great workout to change up your routine and will probably work your core good and give you some good muscle definition. Again, I loved the bar used like combat fighting and doing punch like combos and kicks with it. My legs feel pretty fatigued and I took a semi-rest day yesterday.
Janie- Welcome to the thread. Thanks for joining us. No need to stress about only getting 1 yoga workout in.....as when I'm working I usually only have time to do it on the weekends. Aerobic Yoga? I never heard of that one. I have the other Total Yoga titles with Ganga. Yes, I also bought audio Barbara Benagh. She's a good instructor, although she's Iyengar yoga.....and I don't do Iyengar as often as I do Astanga or Hatha. I was very surprised that the slow gentle practice I did for my sciatica helped.
Jen - I have those Gilad workouts on the way. I've seen them mentioned and I got them cheap on Amazon a few weeks ago.
Meg - How are you today? It's minus 3 here right now and the high is only going to be 7 with below zero windchills........brrrrrr. Has it come your way yet?
Hi to everyone else. Have a great day. I'll be back later to check on every one.
