Morning Ladies -

This morning I should have taken a rest day.....but I ended up doing 55 minutes of Hip Hop Abs Fat Burning Cardio Level 1 followed by Last Minute Abs (5 minutes of standing ab work) and then I did Bryan Kest's Power Yoga for Weight Loss 45". After the cardio I burned a total of 370 calories.

If I listened to my body, I probably shouldn't have worked out today with my hurt foot and I'm feeling pretty worked from a tough week, but the way I see it is I'll be doing shorter workouts soon enough when I return to work.

We're going to see that movie Catch & Release today with Jennifer Garner....guess it's a Valentine's movie! The DH is not thrilled. Another reason I did cardio today........I've been wanting chocolate covered strawberries from our chocolate shop and the only time they have them each year is at Valentine's Day!

Yve - Welcome back. Glad to hear you've been keeping up with your yoga. Since I lost my job (yet again), I've been doing yoga daily....as well as cardio and other things. I have a job interview on Monday for a position back in the hospital I used to work for....so we'll see what happens. I've also been doing a bit of restorative yoga. I finally received my Barbara Benagh Yoga for Stress Relief. I've been doing the practice for Hip Pain (SI Joint) for my sciatica since I've been trying to run on the treadmill (which makes my Sciatica flare up) and it's been helping.

Jen - I think the moves are basic enough in Hip Hop Abs that you'd be fine doing them. I would hope it would help with your rhythm. I've always had rhythm and I've always loved Latin Dance workouts for that reason. That's another reason I like YBB.....it's sort of dancy but fun and light hearted. I would put the intensity of Hip Hop Abs in the same category as YBB....where you can make it as low impact or as hard as you want. I usually do add a bit of impact to both YBB and Hip Hop Abs unless I want to take it easy on a particular day.

RE: Jari Love -- yes, I feel the same way about her. I don't care for her at all or her music. If I do one of her workouts, I always listen to my own music and mute the TV cuz she grates on my nerves and I can't stand her baby talk.....I don't need it. I already know I'm important enough to take time for myself to workout.....for God's sake....it's the only thing that keeps this mental brain sane!! I usually followed her with the weights also and never got a good enough workout. Just recently, I asked a girl over at Hardcore who the heck she follows with weight selection on those workouts to try to figure out how heavy to lift!! I'll have to try them again with that in mind. I have all of her stuff.

Well -- I better get going.......got tons to do around here.

Morning all! I am off to find something *semi-hot* to wear for the Mardi Gras party tonight...wish me luck!

Lora-I read some more reviews of Hip Hop Abs over at VF. Getting more and more convinced it's a must have. I also decided I am definately doing P90X this year, too. I also didn't like in Jari's DVD that they told you how much the weight load was AFTER about 10 reps into the exercise. I almost laugh when she says that you must do the workout three times a week-you've got to be kidding me, my mind & eardrums would go numb! :) I have to find a way to listen to my own music like you do. Wish the DVD had the feature to turn the music off. I had to use 5 lbs for the shoulder raises and 20 lbs on barbell for biceps curls but for the rest of the WO, I increased over what they demonstrated. I kept 25 lbs on my barbell the remainder of the time and got a great WO. I am not sore today, but the addtl. weight did make a difference. I think it is harder to gauge weight when it is endurance style. Going up usually makes you shave reps off the end (at least initially), which kinda' defeats the purpose of high rep/low weight WOs. Confusing!!!!

Gotta run!

Jen
