Trying to Fit Yoga in for Monday Feb 26

Morning Ladies -

Geez - I couldn't get my contacts in my eyes for nothing! I was upstairs for 20 minutes trying to get them in. I don't know what I started doing wrong all of sudden. Since they are bifocals....they are really big. I just started having this problem. Anyone that wear contacts.....do you have a clue what I could be doing wrong all of a sudden? I think it might have something to do with the direction my eye is looking?? (sorry for the little rant)

This morning I did SWAT Weightloss workout, SWAT Toning workout, and SWAT Abs & Core workout. I added my own warm up and stretch (since they don't have them) and it took me 1 hour and 30 minutes and I burned about 370 caloreies....although still not sure if that's correct. I can't get my resting heartrate set correctly......as my resting heartrate is reading a bit high the last couple of days (I know I think I'm slightly overtrained). I didn't add any extra cardio today. I also did Baron Baptiste's Journey into Poweer Yoga Volume 2 for 45 minutes. I added plough and shoulder stand.

My DH is home today and he's got me doing a project around the house so I don't think I'll be as chatty as usual. Tommorrow I have the early job interview at Coca Cola. I'm nervous cuz I haven't been getting up early enough.........so tomorrow's workout will be cut short. Don't think I"ll attempt putting my contacts in tomorrow morning!

Meg - I've never done that Lunar Sequence on Shiva's disc....I usually select my own practice from the Matrix. I'll have to try it some time. I know it probably had the forward bending and twisting section in it and that's a great segment. Love it.

Jen - Glad you liked YBB. I guess now you just need money to buy the live series!! Did it get your heartrate up?

Yve - yes, I have bunions also and the Saucony's are fine in the toes. I really can't say enough good about them. I usually order from www.Zappos.com and they have free shipping and free returns, etc. They have great customer service. I highly recommend them if you haven't used them before. Let me see if I can get the link for you.
Here's the shoe I have:

If you want to look at similar styles....just look under the Stability shoes and then Racing. They have a couple other similar shoes. I wear them for all aerobics. They are really good for running...but I like using them for step and floor aerobics also. Once you get spoiled on the cushioning they have, you won't want to wear anything else. I got someone from the Hardcore thread hooked on these shoes a while back. She used to email me to tell me when they'd go on sale at Zappos. They only ever go on sale for $93 so it's not that great of a savings. The only thing they don't have much of is the ankle support. Their crosstrainers are midcut so they have good ankle support....but again lack the cushioning -- so it just depends what you'd rather have more.

Lora- it was really relaxing and yes, the foward bends and twists were excellent. In the hip opener part, can you put your leg behind your shoulder? I did it, but I can't straighten my leg totally. That is one area that I don't have the tightness, but my inner thighs are very tight. I really need to work on more flexability with them. I loved the plough poses and shoulder stand parts! I hope to try the basic flow sequence next. I still have my Jen Kries and Rainbeau too! I could be doing yoga for hours everyday!

Meg - I can only get my leg around my shoulder....not my head. I can't straighten mine either. Anyone who does a lot of aerobics would have tight hips like us unless they were double jointed or SUPER flexible naturally. I've been having to to figure ways to get deeper and deeper in poses lately. My flexibility has gotten a lot better, although I'm not normally a flexible person. Doing forward bends now....I have to reach beyond my feet to get a stretch and my nose hits my shins. Never used to be like that. I no longer am on my finger tips during triangles and twisting triangles. I now can put my hand flat and even on the other side of my foot and sometimes I even have to bend my elbows. I'm really loving doing all of this yoga. The Lunar segment has plough and shoulderstand in it? If so, I might do it tonight. Is it a preset one? How long is it. Can't wait 'till you try Rainbeau......I need to do that one...as my stomach's been acting up. Did you get Eion's? I can't remember.

I think I'm overtrained a bit ladies. My resting heartrate is elevated, I'm bloated. Do you retain water from over training? I doubt I'll take a day off until Saturday.....still....unless I get a job. Tomorrow, I can only do cardio for around 45 minutes....and Wednesday....I was thinking of doing Yoga only and a bit of cardio.........depending how I feel. I discovered the heart rate when I was trying to adjust my settings in my monitor. When the battery gets weak, it loses power for a second or so and then everything needs reset........thus how I discovered this. My jeans have been really tight too.....so I'm thinking either my legs got big from the leg rotation or I'm retaining water.

Hi ladies! Great job with the yoga. I'm jealous! I've kept my a.m. workouts going strong but I still haven't had any luck fitting in my yoga. But I talked to my DH over the weekend & told him I'd really like to have at least one evening to myself where I can retreat to my workout space (a.k.a., the den) & do the yoga that my body & mind so badly need & he was fine with it. See, I work out in the mornings so it doesn't take away from our time together so this is a compromise of sorts. I'm looking forward to having an evening for myself but it won't be tonight because we will be watching "24" so I'm thinking maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

So has it started warming up any where you live? We had a fabulous weekend & it felt like spring. But last week was really cold so I don't think we're finished with winter yet.

Meg - That sounds like a wonderful yoga routine. I love forward bends & twisting. I think twists are my favorite! What pose is it that requires you to put your leg over your shoulder? I don't think I could do that but I'm interested now, LOL!

Lora - Great job with increasing your flexibility. I'm not normally a flexible person either but it definitely increases dramatically when I'm able to do yoga on a regular basis. I don't know what to tell you about bloating but I'd say your body could retain fluids from overtraining because it's trying to protect itself. The leg rotation may have something to do with it too. You seem to be very in-tune with yourself so just listen to your body & I'm sure things will settle back into place very quickly.

Well, I better go for now. I missed a day or 2 again last week but I plan to do better. I so enjoy checking in on this site so I hope I can keep it up. Life just got very hectic for awhile but it's settled back down now (I hope!) so I should be able to enjoy visiting with you girls more again.

Take care & I'll be back later,

Kel

Kel - don't feel so bad about not fitting your yoga in. It sounds like a good idea -- what you worked out with the DH. I NEVER have time to do yoga when I'm working. I'm going to be really spoiled and it's going to be really tough going back to work, being stressed and not having my daily yoga too!! When I'm working, I usually only have time on the weekends and maybe (if I'm lucky) - one evening a week - but that all depends. Yes, I might be in tune with my body, but I'm stubborn....so I don't always listen to what it's telling me!! LOL.

Lora - LOL!!! I can totally relate to understanding what your body's telling you but not listening. I do that too & I think we can all be like that, especially most of us on this forum. We tend to be so goal-oriented that we just keep on going, regardless of what our body says. For instance, I know I need to fit in some good yoga & I should probably do that workout on Friday but I won't because that's a day that I usually do another circuit workout. If I miss that circiut workout, I feel like I haven't done enough so I keep doing my more intense workouts, rather than the yoga that I probably need (& would probably benefit from more). So I guess I'll just try to fit a whole yoga routine in one evening & maybe slip in a little freestyle here & there whenever I can too. Thanks for your input & see you tomorrow!

I did ME upper and then the bonus WO on my new Rainbeau Mars yogs DVD. It was the best short yoga segment. It was just perfect.

Lora- that segment is 45 min. It was really nice.
I only did Rainbeaus bonus WO, but let me tell you, it was perfect. I just loved it. I can't wait to do the whole thing.

Kel- it is just a hip opener move. You know, how the instructors usually show you the first stage, and then show a more advanced version? Well that was the advanced. Felt pretty cool to do.

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Yoga Booty Ballet Latin Flavor followed by Gilad's Core and More. I am supposed to be in bed by now, so I'll get right to it...

Kel-Good for you for letting DH know how important your WOs are to you! I don't spend much time w/ DH at night as I used to...but I also am not watching as much television either.. and I think I feel better for it. I like chatting with everyone better anyway and it seems to distract me from snacking before bed!

Meg-ME upper-good WO! Why don't I ever think of that! Nice combo with Rainbeau, too! I bet you felt relaxed all evening!

Lora/Meg-You guys are getting so flexible! I am so jealous too! I have gotten inspired with all the pose talking today!

Lora-I will be praying for you with the interview tomorrow! I know what you mean about how hard it is to take rest days. I probably need one but I am being stubborn since it's a short month-no rest until March 1st-have to finish out the month strong! As I mentioned over at Hardcore's, would love to hear the details on SWAT when you have the time.

Hi to Yve if you check in later!

Jen

Hi ladies,

Today's workout was my restorative yoga class.

Lora - tks for the additional help with the running shoes. It says on the reviews that they are smaller than normal. Did you order a full size larger - or did you feel they were true to size? Also - wishing you all the best for your coca-cola interview tomorrow.

Jen - Tks for the comment re journalling. I haven't ever journalled - but have been thinking alot about beginning. I am actually taking a journalling workshop later in March - but may just begin sooner than that. It sounds quite catharctic. Do you journal? I wouldn't mind the P90 rotation. Is there a difference b/w Power 90 and P90x? I think the one I have is power 90.

Hi to Meg and Kel.

I am out of mind with this bout of insomnia. It is close to 1:00am and my eyes just won't shut! It's been 3 wks now since I have had some good rest. Hopefully reading for a bit will help.

Have a nice night everyone -

Yve
