Morning Yogini's - if anyone's out there today!

This morning I did the Full Speedbody Workout followed by the Blast Workout and Ab Segment.......total of 1 hour and 20 minutes and I burned 450 calories. I really concentrated on punching hard and on the recoil and I'm already feeling it in my lats!! I really liked this even more today. I upped the intensity a bit more today. The ab work was good for a 10 minute segment. Good variety in the entire workout. I also did Yoga Wisdom for Neck Pain & Tight Shoulders 50" (which hasn't clicked with me) and Yummy Yoga (somatic release) for upper body 20".

Re: the Yummy Yoga. I purposely did the upper body and not the lower body to see if I "felt" it since I'm so severe. It did help me minimally, but as severe as I am, that's pretty good. Basically, somatics is retraining the spasmed muscles to relax. You do this by contracting the muscles and then releasing and they explain that over time, this "retrains" the muscles to concentrate on relaxing instead of being in constant contraction/spasm. When I was finished, I felt a little better in the upper body and then I really noticed how much my lower back hurt!! LOL. I'll do that segment later, hopefully.

I called my old department at the hospital to find out who they hired for the job I was told I was getting (was told I was going to be hired for a positon after my interview at the beginning of February and then they hired someone else). My DH is mad because they had a Temp in the position and if they hired someone from the outside instead of a displaced employee, he says it's really wrong. Anyway, called and talked to Charles, my old supervisor, and he said my old boss was fired 2 weeks ago for an incident and was escorted out of the hospital by security.

I don't think you ladies knew me when I worked at the hospital and went thru the problems with my difficult boss......but she was really something and HR always me to "document" situations so that they could fire her. She was already on probabtion when I left and I guess she was told that 1 more incident and she'd be fired! Well, apparently it happened but I feel bad cuz even though she was difficult and rant and raved like she shouldn't have.........she was really just a hot head and got over it fast and had a good heart, in general. On the other hand, she only has 2 years 'till retirement and I have considerably more than that!!

Yve - are you okay? didn't hear from you after dress shopping with Mom! Did buy a dress and decide to elope?

Jen - re: Barry's cardio. Don't every make any aerobics session scare you. Only do it at your level. That's what I do.....as I'm not always jumping as high as Cathe or even doing all of the stuff Cathe does during Imax, as I have to modify on my rebounder for my neck/back. I also don't do Barry's cardio on the higher step. I find my HR gets elevated enough on the lower step and if I feel particulary spunky one day, I may put my step up a level. What's really great about the cardio is that since it's intense and short, it shocks your body with cardio and since your body gets accustomed to cardio more than antything else, this is good.....and I've read a lot lately about shorter, intense sessions......and ultimately, you can make it as intense as you want! This is my philosophy for all workouts.....as I'm always modifying up or down, thus the reason I'll still do an intermediate or even beg/intermediate routine and just make it harder! Haven't done that lately, but I have in the past.

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was 20 minutes of Imax 2, 20 minutes of Step Blast and 20 minutes of LowMax. I followed it with 10 minutes of Quick Fix Abs.

Lora-Your comments about the cardio could not have come at a better time. I really struggled with the cardio tonight....I have not done step in a couple of months now and it was like I had never done it at all. Had to keep reminding myself that Cathe is advanced and it's okay to modify and make the workout comfortable...if I don't, I won't be motivated to do it again in the future. A WO must be work, but also fun, or all the motivation goes out the window...especially as we age and do not see results every day like we did in our 20's!!! :)

That stinks about the hospital job x( but it is interesting about your former boss. It's good that you can be compassionate about her situation and see the good in her, despite everything she put you through...and you're right, I think us yoginis only came in on the tail end of that relationship, so we don't know the whole story. I have worked for someone that was tough, but in a different way...sort of a micromanager kind of way. Worst time in my career!!! She is no longer with the company...things really do have a way of working themselves out.

Have a great night everyone! I am still very tired x(...almost like I didn't catch up on any sleep this weekend. I do not feel overtrained, so I don't think it's the WOs but I am not sure.

Jen
