Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Michelle Dozois' Best Body Circuit using 12-20 pound DB's. Some exercises are done with the band and I probably should have used a heavier band, but was not sure, as I never did this before. Workout was 65" and I burned 400 calories. I also did Baron Baptiste's Journey Into Power Level 2 45" and Rapid Results Pilates for the Waist 10" (really different -- like it).

I really liked Michelle's circuit. It was fun and had lots of plyo in it. It was challenging but not in a Cathe way. It's a no dread factor circuit. I've always liked her.

DH was still giving me grief this morning during my workout! I wish he'd get over his crap already. I really could use some support from him right now, as starting a new job is not easy.

Jen - I ended up keeping the Simply set of Gin's. I have Simply Circuit, Endurance, Interval and Strong......but I moved them into the basement area. I like Gin too....but a little less than I used to. I've got 2 more racks to go thru. Watching my Yoga Fusion VHS's now...and so far, most of them aren't making the cut. Yes, I agree that learning billing is good.....however, this job NEVER gives you a raise or cost of living and I'm not sure if I can stay at a place like that. Doesn't give you a whole lot to look forward too. The lady that hired me said she hired me cuz she was so impressed with not only my experience but the fact that I went out door to door dropping resunes off. She said that it means I'm agressive and a go getter. I'm not sure about that these days (although when I really want something - I do go for it -- but agressive, moi??). It feels weird to be as old as I am and starting over at what I made when I first got hired at the first hospital I worked at 20 years ago.

Kel - how are you?? what's up?

I have lots to take care of today. I'll be around for a while though.

Hi ladies!

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. I had a very busy morning & then took the afternoon off to shop with my MIL & SIL. My DH & I also had to do some painting & didn't get finished until after 9:30 so it was a very busy day & evening. Yesterday, I did one of the KPC premixes & wore 1# weighted gloves. I'm finding that I enjoy kickboxing a lot more with the weighted gloves. This morning, I did the step & weights premix on SJP & also added some abs at the end. I feel really good about all the workouts I got in this week!

I also fit in some yoga Wednesday evening & it's one of my favorite routines to do. I did the Yoga Journal Step By Step series in this sequence: 1: Poses for Strength & Stamina, 3: Balancing Poses for Focus & Energy, & 2: Bending & Twisting Poses for Flexibility. I really enjoy this series, especially when I have time to do all three in a row. The reason I do them in this sequence is because DVD #2 has several sun salutation variations & lots of standing poses, which really warms up the body. DVD #3 contains all the balancing poses that require lots of focus & strength (like crane, side plank, full arm balance/handstand, headstand, plough, & shoulderstand). And DVD #2 focuses mostly on twisting & stretching. I always fast forward past the sun salutations in the last 2 DVDs since I already did them in the first one & I also add cosmic dancer, pigeon, & full boat somewhere in the last DVD (#2). I also extend resting pose & sit in meditation for a few minutes at the end. If I don't have time to do all three DVDs at once, my favorite one to do alone is DVD #2. Do any of you ladies have these?

Lora - Nice workout! I have always enoyed Michelle Dozois. Thanks for the information about foreclosures & I'm so sorry you guys are dealing with so much on the property you just acquired. Have you been able to do the full routine on Yoga for Urban Living yet? I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about it. Also, I noticed that there is a new series of DVDs on the Yoga Journal website. They were filmed live at the San Francisco Yoga Conference & they feature Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, & Baron Baptiste. Have you seen or tried any of these? They look good...

Jen - Are you looking forward to starting your next rotation? Have you been doing any yoga or stretching during this one? Hope to "see" you later & hope you have a great day!

I'm sure glad it's Friday but I'm not looking forward to our long day of construction work tomorrow. We're going to set/install a bathtub & build several walls so the house will be ready for the electrician to wire. We're also planning to work half a day on Sunday & then go out to eat with my in-laws. I have a feeling this weekend will fly by again & it will be Monday before I even know it.

Hope you ladies have a nice weekend. I'll try to stop by again today but if I don't get a chance to visit over the weekend, I'll be back on Monday.

Namaste!

Lora - Sorry... I forgot to comment about your job. I'm sorry the pay isn't that great & your DH isn't being supportive but it sounds like it might be something you'll enjoy at least. You said they don't give raises but is there any chance for advancement? It sounds like the lady that hired you was very impressed with you so maybe that's a possibility. And like you said, you can always keep looking while you're there. Seems like it's easier to find a job once you have one & sometimes they are more abundant too. Good luck!

Kel - no - haven't done Hemalaya's DVD yet -- full practice and I'm not sure I'll have time this weekend for it. I was planning on doing Super Slim Down tomorrow.....unless I change my mind. I already decided to do a short cardio tomorrow instead of a rest day since it's my last Saturday living the "free life". My DH is also really stressed out right now with the house stuff. $1000 so far to fix the gas line with plumbing, etc. and the painter has been blowing him off so he's going to look at paint and may spend his whole weekend painting. Thanks to you............I just spent all of my saved money .......got those yoga DVDs.....which won't be here until October (for my B-day). I hope I can keep this job!! as I spent other money today I had stashed.

Hi ladies! No WO for me tonight. Not a good day on the weigh-in. I am at a standstill. No weight gained (thankfully), but no weight lost. No progress made. I am stunned. I worked really hard this week. Ate very well. Was even very sore today from the jogging yesterday. I have decided not to finish my rotation, since it was obviously just a "break even" week. Sounds like I need to go into heavy cardio for awhile. It's something I have known, but just have not wanted to face. I saw improvements to my body this week more than any other and the nutritionist said I seemed to be tighter this time, but no change in the numbers. ****big sigh**** I feel that's just not good enough for me at this point. I must lose weight before getting pregnant. I wish I had some way to gauge what a muscular person my height would weigh. I wonder how heavy fitness competitors are? They definitely weigh more b/c of their lean muscle mass. This is making me nuts.

Lora-That Michelle Dozois sounds right up my alley! Where did you find that one? Do they have it on Collage Video? I finally visited Fitness Organica and they have really come a long way. I couldn't believe all the great video clips they had....and the clarity!! It was even better than Collage (but of course with slightly less selection). How is your mom doing? Wow, that is crazy that that office does not give COLA or merit increases! Their turnover must be very high. I can't imagine people staying very long in that situation. What are the benefits like? Do they have a 401k plan and match? I think you are going at it from the right angle. Just learn what you can and make it a good stepping stone. Are you going to post the thread this weekend? If not (it's fine), I will see you over at Hardcores.

Kel-Wow, girl! What a weekend you have planned! Do you ever get sore from all that work? Talk about functional fitness! How do you find the strength to keep your workouts up? I would be completely beat. I only have one obligation this weekend and felt "whiny" about that....your post got me in a different frame of mind! :) Well, as you can tell from my above rant, I will be starting cardio on Saturday. I am going to include some circuits...just because I can't go a week without at least touching weights and because they give such a great calorie burn. I am just not sure how many to include. I think it will be 2 to 3 at the most. The rest will be interval training and straight cardio-walking, step, etc. I am also considering buying a pair of Rollerblades. I would have to go out alone, since my DH won't Rollerblade with me. I am scared to do it...there are so many creepy stories about women going missing when they go out alone...and I live in a nice, park-friendly area. Just afraid to take advantage of it. I guess I need to stop living in fear. My health is more important than that.

Have a great night ladies!

Jen
