Lora, I guess I would say it's like the free form dance portion of Shiva's Yoga Trance Dance, except more choreographed for about 95% of the workout. There are a few sections that are free form. There is a tutorial at the beginning showing all the steps and they make it seem simple, but when they get to the WO Chantal does very little cueing. I really need details-at least for the first few steps, like left, right, left and turn or something. It's a NIA based workout, so it's supposed to be more about freedom of expression and adding your own emphasis and style to the moves. I love the music and it goes really, really well with the choreography. It is similar to Shiva's music in that has a world groove flavor to it. The set is nice, nothing to bright or standoutish. Chantal moves beautifully and so does everyone else for that matter (I can't believe some of them don't have dance experience)-except for the guy in the back. Oh my! The cast synopsis says something like he was the first guy to ever be allowed on his school's dance team/dance line. So, you can imagine.....
Chantal doesn't say that much during the WO but seems to really enjoy it-she is pleasant and relaxed. I don't regret buying this one because the steps are really cute (of course, some make me feel dorky, but I am trying hard to get over that feeling) so I am going to try to keep picking up the moves, but it will definately take me some time. I have only done the WO twice and felt pretty lost for about 50% of the time. Once you get the moves, you can add hops and get more creative with the arms. At this point, adding the arms COMPLETELY throws me off. I am not sure, but I thought I saw on Amazon that she had another WO coming out this month, or maybe that was just when they were starting to carry it. It also says there is a website, soulsweatdance.com, but when I tried it, it was not up and running. I read the VFers reviews and can't remember exactly what they said about it...just seems like they were mostly quite positive. It is not that intense of a WO on the surface, but it's a great add-on and when I got some of the moves down-in those parts it doesn't feel like a WO anymore...which is a cool feeling. I think you would ultimately like it, but I don't think it's a must have right now if you've got your eye on something else...I'd say make this one a lower priority or something.
OMG.....You are getting Elite Forces....can't wait to hear about it!
Gotta go-DH is in the driveway! Hope I spelled everything correctly, no time to review..
