Trying to Fit in Yoga Mon Jan 29

Cathlete
Morning! So my weight is back down to 142 after the weekend bloat! Good starting point. TIme to burn more baby! Well, I am keeping an eye on my ankle, still feeling *stuff* there. I wanted to do Imax3 today, but I think any plyo's are out!! So, I have my niece today anyway, so WO will be later probably. Let ya'll know!

I posted late last night, so I will copy it here just in case:

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't posted this weekend. I was hiding a bit, and then I was super busy this weekend. I did not WO yesterday, or today. Boohoo. But, my ankle is alright, just twinges when I move it a certain way, and my knees were bothering me, so I rested.
I am ready to step it up though, just hope my body agrees.

Jen- I hope your DH's back is alright! That stinks! You guys have been doing really good sticking to it. You seem to have a good variety of WO's too.

Tammy- YAY! You did yoga! I bet it felt soooooo good, especially after that run. I have wanted to do my CC this weekend, but was to nervous with my ankle. It wasn't a 100%, and running isn't easy on the legs, so.......

Lora- how was the movie? Did the yoga help those tired toasty legs?

Hi ladies! DH seems better this morning but is probably not WO ready. I had 1800 cals yesterday-yikes! Only 3 days until new measurements-time to flip the Cathe calendar-and only 1 week left until fat pinching again. Better keeping logging my cals to figure out where I am at. I am pretty sure I went up this month-partly due to heavy weight training and partly due to some minor diet issues.

Megadoo-:) Missed you! Glad you are doing better and being SMART about knees and ankles! :) I am sure you will be back in the swing of it in no time!

BBL-

Morning Ladies -

I did Kelly Coffey's NYC Total Body followed by 55 minutes of Step Gone Wild with Rob Glick. I also did 30 minutes of Yoga on Demand. At the end of the cardio/weights, worked out for 1 hour and 55 minutes and burned 604 calories.

I wasn't going to do so much of Step Gone Wild, but I couldn't stop. I previewed this the other night and was so disappointed cuz I thought I'd NEVER be able to learn it. All different sort of rhythm changes, counts keep changing, turns galore........so I was going to attempt the warm up and maybe part of the first segment and I learned the W/U (a feat in itself), the first combo and the second combo!! I didn't do it perfectly and missed a step here and there or a turn and ended up on the wrong foot, but if I can do that the first time, I'm sure I'll learn it and it's so much fun. I highly recommend this complex step workout. It's available at Collage.

Just got off the phone with the Unemployment Office, as I rec'd this long questionnaire over the weekend about why I was let go from my job........errr irritating.

I've been meaning to mention that I finally can do shoulderstands without much problems with my shoulders. At least, I don't think it's bothering them........but they are already so sore and spasmed from other stuff I've been doing that I'm not supposed to be doing like planks galore, partial chataranga's, etc. I'm so happy I was able to do this. I guess I shouldn't get too excited though cuz I doubt I'll ever be able to do any arm balances without severe shoulder spasms, as every time I so a side plank, I get severe trap spasms. So irritating.

I wanted to do longer yoga ....but it was getting late. I will try to do more later. I also did Ravi & Ana's Yoga Bliss Hips 30 minute premix last night.

Have great workouts. I'll be around. Gotta go eat breakfast.

I was over at YogaJournal.com checking out poses and what they are therapeutic for and I discovered some of my favorite poses (new and old) are good for sinusitis ....plough, shoulderstand, standing forward bend and seated forward bend. Now if only my sinuses weren't so bad that I need surgery, maybe I'd see some improvement! Oh well, it can't hurt to do these.

Hi girls! Just wanted to poke my head in here for a minute. Sounds like you are all getting in some good workouts & trying to fit your yoga in too. Last week, I did yoga twice. I did all three Yoga Journal Sessions on Thursday night & it left me feeling worked-out, stretched-out, & relaxed. Now I just hope I can fit in some yoga this week too...

Meg - Glad your ankle's feeling better but I agree it's better to play it safe if it still feels funny. Hope you get a WO in later!

Jen - Hope your DH is all better & hope you can fit in some yoga this week too!

Lora - I've been thinking about ordering a few Kelly Coffey DVDs so do you recommend her? I enjoy browsing the Yoga Journal site too & find lots of helpful & interesting information & articles there.

Hope you have all had a nice Monday!

Kel

I did both yoga segments from Dancin' the Chakras 30" this evening and then I did a segment from my Yoga for Stress Relief DVD with Barbara Benagh (but it's defective so I have to send it back). I did the neck/shoulder segment. Nothing helps my neck and shoulders.......they are like cement!

See everyone in the AM.

Evening, all! Tonight's WOs were Willpower & Grace, Move with Integrity and Budokon, Beginner's Practice. I did Budokon first, which is a combo of yoga, martial arts, and meditation. The WO was about 38 minutes and it starts with 20 minutes of yoga....and that's the long practice. So different from the workout lengths I have gotten used to these days. Anyway, I really liked this workout and will consider purchasing it-especially if it comes with other more intermediate/advanced practices. It seems gentle, but the sweat was pouring down my neck by the end of it. I liked the "rock" soundtrack during the martial arts segment. Cameron Shayne is very mellow, not at all arrogant, and quite soothing. I found his instruction easy to follow. Standing meditation is a little harder to get excited about than the lying down variety :) but it is only for one minute (literally) so no biggie. This would be an ideal PMS workout! }( It's gentle, but you also get some aggression out with all the kicks and punches. I liked doing the kicks and punches slower, to really hone in on form and balance and it allows you to kick much higher, too. There was someone demonstrating easier modifications of the more strenuous moves. (I can't sink my heels in down dog anymore :( !!) The only drawback is that I could see (at least w/ the Beginner WO) this getting boring after awhile-but, it's not like you would be doing this one everyday anyway. Bottom line: I think DH will like this one a lot and I will put it on my purchase list. Hope no one at Netflix wants this one for a little bit, I will keep it a few more days.

Willpower & Grace was another workout done barefoot and although there were endless squats and lunges, I did not sweat as much with it, but my thighs got a good burn. The instructor was just okay-she reminded me of a young Suzanne Sommers. The music was a bit weird (sorta jazz mixed w/ something) and the exercises were a little weird, too. It was nice that there was no equipment needed for the workout and it does really work the thighs using several variations of the same exercise. This mostly worked the legs-your arms only got toning when you lifted them over your head and this was sometimes not until the last 4 reps of an exercise. The instructor had on sweatbands, a large watch worn sideways, what looks like a ski hat, and chunky rings. The cueing was not as good as it could have been as she did not indicate some transitions until you were already doing the exercise. Bottom line: I may rent it for occasional variety but it's not a keeper or a purchase.

Lora-What was your take on these WOs?

Megadoo-What have you been up to today? How is your ankle?

Tammy-How was your day? What WO did you do?

Kel-Glad you could pop in! Good job on yoga x 2!! :) How long are all 3 YJ sessions together?

DH is still suffering with the back issue, but he was better today. No working out for him for at least another 3 days.

Later Yoginis!!

Jen

Hi Yogis!

Today was Chest/Back and Abs.

Meg: Go to the doctor young lady!!!!

Lora: Your workouts continue to amaze me.

Jen: Hope your DH is better soon. How are those soy yogurt smoothies coming along
}( :+ :+

Kel: Good for you on the yoga workouts. I'm a weekend yogi!

Hi guys. I just finished CC6. I did not push my speed or incline, and I wrapped my ankle for good measure. It felt alright today. Had a good WO. My hip flexors were hollering pretty good at the end. Did some extra stretches for them.

Tammy- you are probably really yelling at me now huh?! I feel alright, but if I am having pain tomorrow, then I better call the doc I guess. I am going to the pulmonologist tomorrow, does that count? LOL!!
