I read in one of the forum saying that you cannot train for a marathon in the treadmill. If the answer is yes can I do twice a week in the TM then one outside (long run). I'm only gonna be doing half marathon.

I've never run a full marathon but have run a couple halfs and an 18 miler. I trained for my 2nd HM pretty much exclusively on the TM. IMO as long as you have run enough outside that you are used to running on pavement as opposed to a TM, I personally think it's possible to train for any race on a TM. Is it better to get outside? Sure, but I don't think it's mandatory as long as you have a goodly amount of previous outdoor running experience. It would also help if it's a distance you have run in the past as was the case with my 2nd HM. JMHO though. :)

Agree 100% with Wendy. Also be sure to set your TM at a 2% incline to replicate outdoor running. I think doing your long run outside is great so your used to actually pounding the pavement. Also, maybe make one of your TM an interval session to push yourself a bit.

Thank you Ladies! And yes one of my TM run is an interval.

I trained for a full marathon exclusively on the treadmill and did just fine when it came time for the race. I do run more outside now and have noticed a difference in how much more tone my legs are, I guess from using my muscles differently on the road. Good luck!
