Treats for kids' basketball game

My 7 year old son plays on a kids' basketball team at the YMCA each Saturday morning. Next week, it is my turn to provide the treats for after the game. Most moms have been bringing brownies, Rice Krispy treats, cookies, etc. I know that's what the kids like, but I would like to bring something more healthy for them. Any cute, healthy ideas, that are also quick and portable, and kids will like? I know, I'm not asking for much, am I? :) Thanks!

You could try trailmix. With a variety of nuts and low sugar/unsweetened dried fruit, healthy cereals, mini pretzels or rice cakes, spelt/rice sticks, wasabi crackers, and maybe a *few* dark chocolate chips thrown in this could be delicious and healthy snack. It would be comparatively low in sugar (which the kids need anyway after a BB game) and high in fiber, nutrients, etc. Also, easy and portable. Make sure it has LOTS of variety and that will help to keep it exciting. And when you're done making it, could you send some my way, b/c that sounds really good right now, lol!

I usually send granola bars or individual bags of pretzels.

The trail mix is a good idea - you could make up individual bags ahead of time to pass out. I just prefer prepackaged items to give and also to receive.

Mattea,

You're making me hungry! You could also do fruit and cool whip or a yogurt/granola/fruit kind of thing. Low fat muffins aren't a bad idea. And there is a recipe for cookies on Kashi Cinna Raisin cereal that I've always wanted to try!

Not super healthy, but what about those Go-Gurt things. You could even freeze them and keep them in a cooler and then they are kind of like a popsicle.

I hope you get more ideas...my kids are just starting Tee-Ball, and I will be bringing lots of "reats", and I prefer to bring healthier items!

I did not read any other answers so I apologize if something has already been mentioned...

String cheese
Yogurt
Pudding

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...HTH!

Green and purple grapes
String Cheese
A Banana Half
Blueberry muffins using a heart healthy recipe
Cut Up Honeydew or Cantalope

The easiest would be to give each child a banana half and a cheddar cheese string cheese. Healthy, nutritious, easy to transport and easy to eat.

You could also buy a block of cheese and slice it yourself...would be less expensive than buying the individual string cheeses for many kids.

How about some of those fruit bars? I get some from an organic store around here; the filling is made with real fruit (though there is some added sugar) and the cookie part is whole wheat. My kids LOVE it, especially my DD, and she is the pickiest eater ever.
