treadmill

Hi Jessica,
I recently asked for this same advice on another forum. The response was to check out the Sears website. I just bought a Proform 755 last Friday on sale. They said it was on sale, but one of the girls on line paid the same price as me last year! :D Anyway,it has Ifit technology which means you can plug it into a CD player or VCR (make sure it has a line in jack). This is real neat because you can put in the CD [that comes with it] and as the trainer goes faster or climbs a hill, the treadmill will automatically adjust with it. They have videos as well.
I'm waiting for an injury to heal, but hope to try out baby steps on Friday.
Lot's of people, including my Dad, has a Proform and they just love it.
This is probably more than you wanted to hear....this is just my nickles worth.

Hi Jessica,
I have a Sears Lifestyler that costs me $400 about 6 1/2 years ago. I've heard people say to never pay under $1000.00 otherwise you're getting something that won't last long, however, I disagree, my $400 treadmill has been used ALOT!It is very sturdy for running as well as walking. Doesn't make too much noise either. It's still working great. I'm sure that it would costs around $600.00 by now (if Sears even carries one call Lifestyler now). I think Sears is a good choice. Just my opinion.

I bought a Sears treadmill about 2 years ago. This had actually been returned, or repossessed, or something. Anyway, it cost about $1200. It's as good as anything I've been on at a gym.

Chiming in again...chatterbox me,
I bought a Sears Lifestyler back in 1994 with the maintenance agreement. I had the repair man to check it out just before the agreement ran out and the treadmill was just fine. I sold it to my friend and nextdoor neigbor two years ago because I needed the space. She and two of her kids and sister-in-law use it every week. It is like a Timex. :D
I bought my new one because it folds up and I really missed walking on my treadmill. You'll love the Ifit feature.

Hey Wanda! I want to buy a treadmill this January. I'm searching and searching. I was wondering the cost of your new Proform 755. I checked out Sears' website, but I couldn't find the price. I have "space issues" and I need a treadmill that folds up, but there are not a lot of choices. :-rollen

Rose,
I bought mine for $599 at Sears. The store here had a sale until November, but with Xmas coming, I'm sure they will be having similar deals. Mine is the 755 CS model and it folds up like a breeze. I have been walking on it the since Thursday and I just love it. The belt is real cushiony too. You will love the Ifit feature. You just put the CD that comes with it in a CD player that has an line injack and you are off on an adventure with a personal trainer. The treadmill itself has 4 or 5 (?) workouts pre-recorded in it as well.
Hope this helps.

Wow Wanda :-wow !!! That was a great bargain. Thank you very much for the info and thank you jessica for starting the thread. I love the fact that Cathe encourages us to walk, run, and ride bikes in addition to video exercise. Cross training is the key to sticking to our active lifestyles. I will check out the treadmills next week hoping that after the holidays I can buy one. Thanks again.

All this talk of treadmills makes me want to tell a story about mine. I too have a Proform from Sears. I love it. I bought it about 2 years ago and paid $599 I think. Anyway, having said that, those of you who have a treadmill know about the little key that goes in to make the treadmill work. Attached to that key is a string with a clip on the end, the purpose of which is to attach to your clothing so that if you fall off the treadmill, it will pull the key out and the treadmill will stop.
Smart me (NOT!) decided from the very beginning that I didn't need that string attached to myself. I was NOT going to fall off, therefore why bother which such an inconvenience? I simply draped the string over the back of the console and forgot about it.
Well, you guessed it, last evening, while at a dead run (about 6 mph I think), I fell off the darn thing. It passed through my mind as I was falling...... "Oh please let me land safely and not break something or ruin a knee." Thank goodness I am okay. I have a very skinned up shin and knee, but no injuries. The skinned part came from hitting the moving platform when I fell. I am very lucky. Moral to this story and to all treadmill users, use the clip on the end of your string and attach it to your clothes. It's worth the slight aggravation of having that thing hanging in front of you!

Oh Jeanne!

You poor thing. I am so glad you are okay. I also have the Sears Proform which we have had for quite a few years now. Thanks for the reminder to wear my key!!!

RE: Oh my....!

Jeanne wow! I'm glad you're okay. Thanks for sharing the story. When I get my treadmill I'll make sure to attach the clip to my clothes.
