Treadmill Owners Please Help Me

Hello everybody and happy holidays. Well I haven't had much time to post in here because I fell and I injured my achilles tendon and now I have to wait 3 weeks so I can start exercising again. (Really depressing) My doctor told me that I should start slowly, that I can't run or do high impact aerobics when I start exercising. I'm just allowed to walk when I start. The thing is that I need a treadmill cause it's easier for me to exercise indoors and I have no idea which one to buy. I've been wanting a treadmill for awhile now so if this is the time to buy one I'm planning to get a really good treadmill that'll last years. I'm willing to go as high as 1,500-2,000 but they must have a really good warranty, it should fold-up and two people will be using it at least 4 times per week. I will be walking in it and then I'll use it to run for 45min-1hr as soon as my doctor gives me the thumbs up.

Any of you own a treadmill? Which one? Can you recommend one that'll work for me?

Hi!!

This link is great for suggestions...It is this year's Runner World's review on treadmills..The article talks about price, softness, and even shows pictures of the displays!

I hope you are feeling better...from one runner to another - take your time getting back into it! You will regret it if you try to push it too hard and fast at first. I have been exactly where you are and I ended up having to take EIGHT WHOLE WEEKS off (in rehab) because I tried to do too much, too soon. (typical runner!?)

Anyway, hope this link below helps.

Hi Rose11,

I just purchased a new treadmill a few months ago to replace the one I've had for 18 years! I checked out the reviews on runners world (as Jenni suggested) to narrow down my search. I also think you need to walk/run on the models you are considering in order to get a good feel for them.

I bought the PaceMaster Pro Elite for around $2000 and love it. You can adjust the deck for softness and it comes with many pre-programmed workouts like 5K,10K, speed & hill intervals, endurance, target heart rate etc.. It is really quiet but does not fold up. I'm not sure which (if any) higher end models fold up so you'll have to do some checking if that feature is important.

Good luck in your search. :D

I suggest you buy a "continuous duty motor" (which you can run for 24 hours straight and will not burn up), NordicTrack at Sears with the warranty.

I have had my PowerTread 1750 continuous duty, foldable treadmill for 4 years now. Anytime I have had a problem, like the computer board, etc., or whatever it may be, they have come out and fixed it at no charge.

I always buy my exercise machines through Sears and ALWAYS pay for the warranty. It is a must.

They deliver and set up and I just call up the service # on my warranty for service, no problem. Love it!

Just my recommendation.:p

Thank you very much for the replies. That link was certainly helpful. I saw the nordictrack 8600 in that list and it got my attention so I went to nordictrack.com and I checked it out and they have a special price at the moment $3,295, but it is way over budget and it doesn't fold up so right now I like the E4400. There's a Sears store nearby so I'll wait after Christmas to check the treadmills there.

Hey runathon did you buy an extended warranty for your treadmill at Sears or nordictrack?
