Good day Challengers! Today's topic (from "O" Magazine):

SOLVING THE EMOTIONAL ENERGY CRISIS
By Annie Gottlieb

The most common complaints Americans bring to our doctors are: "I feel tired all the time," and "Why do I feel so blah?" Once possible physical causes of fatigue have been ruled out (a crucial first step), many doctors diagnose mild depression and reach for the prescription pad. But is this really depression—or just depletion?

THE EIGHT DRAINS

Energy drain: Other People's Expectations
Are you living someone else's dream for you? You're putting out energy but starving emotionally. The other person gets all the satisfaction.

Energy move: Declare Independence
You bought in; you can set yourself free. No confrontation needed, just "I don't have to expect that of myself." Worst-case scenario: Someone who's not you will be disappointed. You will feel wonderful.

Energy drain: Loss of Self
As kids, we had to play by the rules; our unique energy got caged.

Energy move: Personalize Your Life
Ask yourself, If it were up to me, what would I…hang on my wall? Wear to work? Do for fun? Find the pockets of freedom where you can be more yourself.

Energy drain: Deprivation
Duties and responsibilities fill your days. You gain weight trying to get emotional energy from food.

Energy move: Add Pleasure, Beauty, Fun
Satisfying experiences, large and small, are the real nourishment you crave. Plan a big treat to look forward to—and a little one every day.

Energy drain: Envy
We often don't feel envy directly—but we might find someone else's good fortune depressing.

Energy move: Count Your Blessings
Comparison is a loser's game. Look at what you have, and actively feel grateful. (P.S. That person you envy—you don't know how messy her life really is. Chances are you wouldn't want it if you had it.)

Energy drain: Worry
When you worry, you think you're dealing with things, but you're just suffering. Worry never comes up with good ideas. It torments and exhausts us.

Energy move: Get Going
Action is the cure for worry. Do one thing that brings you a step closer to coping. If it's the middle of the night, get up and write a to-do list.

Energy drain: Unfinished Business
Unmade decisions and postponed projects drain you.

Energy move: Do It or Dump It
Forget the perfect decision—just trust yourself and make a choice. Put projects in an appointment book. If you can't find any good time, that's a signal you don't want to do it. So don't.

Energy drain: Overcommitment
You're always saying "Yes"—to your boss, mother, kids, friends; to requests, favors, meetings.

Energy move: Say "Yes" to Yourself
Tell someone else "No" every once in a while, just to feel your own power. You'll gain a whole new sense of your abilityto take care of yourself.

Energy drain: Holding On to Loss
Fresh loss is an emergency. But old losses you can't let go of are dead weight.

Energy move: Cry All Your Tears
Indulge in big-time mourning. Take off from work, stay in bed, and do nothing but cry till you're dry…and bored. Then go out and embrace life.

Hi ladies,
Hope you are doing wonderful.

Wonderful topic, fitdoc. Thank you!

Debbie, my Goodness, thanks for sharing some of your pictures. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
Great work on achieving such a beautiful shape too!

Debbie, Juli, and fitdoc, thank you for your kind words.

Janice, I was reading your post on your wonderful trip to HH. Wow, what a blast you had. I am so happy you enjoyed your days so well and had such an amazing experience.

Great big hello to everyone.

I did Imax1 today.

Have a beautiful day.
Bita:)

Great post Michelle! I'm a little behind in my O reading, guess I haven't seen this one yet. My energy move today is "Do it or Dump it" Lots of little loose ends to tie and I've just got to jump in and take care of them. My life is a little more normal (I hope) this week. MIL is out of the hospital, DH's secretary is back at least part time, sister's are on their way to help me finish clearing out Dad's house. I actually had a regular exercise day today. 10-10-10 plus biceps and shoulders from the CTX series. It felt sooo good!

Bita, sorry about your wreck. I'm so glad you and your son are okay. It happens so quickly doesn't it?

Debbie, Debbie , Debbie!!! You look fabulous! You must be so proud of yourself. Heck, I'm proud of you and I didn't have a thing to do with it. Gotta know about those shoes. What kind are they. And which beautiful horse is that? Thanks, for posting your pictures. You are such an inspiration to us all.

Janice, tell us all about HH.

Hope everyone is doing well this week.

Gloria

Great topic, Fitdoc. Right now, I'm feeling Overcommitment, Unfinished Business, Worry & Deprivation- and it's all wedding related!

Gloria, I'm glad to see that your life is kinda back to normal. What is going on with DH's secretary? Is she ill? I hope her work situation will be under way soon.

I took today off from work, I still feel blah and TOM arrived, too. I still plan to do Step/Intervals & Chest/Shoulders from CTX. I've also decided to keep this workout for at least another two weeks. I'm not prepared for the PS series yet, I still need some more risers and a body bar.

Hello to Bita, Janice, Juli, FS, Wildpony, Robyn, Smiley & everyone else. Have a great day!

Otisan, no doubt most people with a wedding to plan feel all of those things! I'm a bit "overcomitted" as well :D

Gloria - delete some of those spaces girlfriend!

Hey fitdoc as always great topic.

Gosh I'm feeling pretty lucky actually by not working I actually have been able to make time for myself. Time to refocus on me (and of course the kids!) I've had time to NOT overcommit and just focus on working out, kids, positive thinking, reading and caught up on the unfinished business - it's great not to have a million to do's.

Positive thinking has helped turn around my worry and feeling of deprivation... SO thanks sooo much for the article!

Good to see everyone this week.

Did S&H leg and shoulder yesterday
Today LL (know its too much leg but was really wanting to do it)

Have a good day all. Time to get some zzzzzs

Debbie - you look great! You should post that on the accomplishments section.

Bita - sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are ok - really makes you reevaluate everything - glad you are ok

Otisan - good luck on the wedding plans!

Helloooo Ladies Happy Monday Night Late,

OMG!!! Thanks you all so much for all of your wonderful comments. I have put together a Wild Pony story on the ya ya success page. I had to go down to Newport today for Dr. stuff so I wasn’t able to w/o or check in until now. I have been thinking about your reactions all day long. I have been wondering what you all would think. I mean you guys are all very focused and inspiring women. I feel as if I have gotten something from each of you. I also feel you breathing down my neck when I feel like being lazy or slacking off. LOL. Now I just have to finish this trip. I do feel so strong and the difference in my abilities are soooo different than before. The thing that is the most different though has to be my smile the more fit I become the bigger it gets. Tee hee…….

Thanks again for your sweet comments,
Debbie

Michelle- What a great topic! Of course I had to print this out one for me one for DD. Thank goodness I don’t have any pictures on my wall in exercise room.;) Also, you are so nice. This “coming out” hasn’t been easy for me but I knew it was something that you wanted for me too. Thanks g-friend. BTW what did Dh think seeing the mystery lady from the Streets of San Francisco finally? My dh wanted me to add in to my success story a little something to inspire the VDH’s of the world with. Lets just say it involved saying that doing certain things to/with VDH was a HUGE part of my success. Shezzz guys…..

Gloria- Don’t kid yourself about not having anything to do with my success. I don’t think I would have come this far this past year without the constant support from you all REALLY!!! Oh and the shoes. They are from Adidas (Ohm LE W) I bought them online from their site. I had last years version and they were so great that I had to hunt the new version down. Kind of goofy looking but until now they have been my little secret. I do put different insoles in them though but I really love them for step and my weight w/o’s. Oh and that horse is CJ my boy. :)

Robin- Thanks I did post something on the ya ya site. I wasn’t sure about the Cathe site because I have only been using her w/o since the spring. Heck that’s a year now isn’t it? Maybe I should then.

Otisan- Cathe owns my biceps really she does. Thanks!!! I hate LL too but of course that only means I have to do it. Right now my favorite one to hate is PLB but it’s that love hate sort of thing. ;)

Juli- Yup that’s Burner, she’s such a camera hog isn’t she. ;) Thanks!!

Hi! Hope your day is beautiful.

Gloria, Robyn, Thank you so... much for your kind words and understandings.

Otisan, I know how you feel about all the plans for the wedding and all that. I hope and know that you enjoy and savour the whole process too. Best of wishes on everything.

Debbie, I am so glad you are sharing your exprience with others. Such a blessing.

Big hellos to all my friends.

Today is FatBurning 2 day with power yoga.

Have a blessed day.
Bita:)

So, so sorry about all the spaces! Sheesh, what did I do? Anyway, the time has expired for me to delete my post. You'll just have to click past me.

Played 3 sets of tennis this morning. Such a gorgeous day for it. It made losing not as bad. After a quick shower I'm heading to my Dad's to do more packing. We're seriously thinking about putting everything in the front yard with a big FREE sign. Wouldn't that be fun.

Otisan, DH's secretary had breast cancer and she has chemo every 3 weeks. She's working some as she feels like it. What's the latest wedding news?

Have y'all seen Janice's report of her HH weekend on Fitprime? Sounds like it was fantastic.

So Debbie, you didn't report on a Valentine from your VDH or did I miss it. Did he make another Victoria's Secret trip? Maybe he should write us an inspirational story.

Have a great day ladies.

Gloria

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I completed the whole Step/Interval/Chest workout. By the time I got to shoulders, it was obvious that that wasn't going to happen. I did surprise myself by being able to do all those intervals- IMAX, I'll see you yet! Tonight's workout is Step/Circuit & Back.

Gloria, I'm so sorry about your DH's secretary. Has she just started Chemo? How is she feeling? I will keep her in our prayers. Also, good luck cleaning out at dad's; you will find that the "lugging stuff to the curb with a FREE sign" is a great idea. My GF did that when she moved, and she doesn't give ANYTHING away!

Debbie, those are YOUR biceps- Cathe just provided the collateral. I hope she'll be doing the same for mine!

Bita, hope you and your DS are getting over your jitters. Have you started looking for a new car?

Wedding plans are slowly coming together, and I do mean SLOWLY. The rings are done, I've found a florist and we're going to book the band on Thursday. On Friday, we have to pay the hall 40% and then we're having dinner there :) It's scary to ponder that this is the half way point between when we booked the place and the wedding date. This sure went by fast!

Warm hello's to everyone. Have a great day!

Today’s workout was Imax2. Feeling good! I’m heading off to do ab work now . . . maybe that crazy ball stuff from PUB?

Gloria, don’t delete your post – just “edit” the post and delete the spaces. (I like the idea of a “FREE” sign in the front yard – what a nice way to spring clean!)

Otisan, wow – it’s really getting close!

Janice, get over here and give us the scoop.

Where’s FirmScorpio?

hey guys!

Imax today - LOVE that work out. I think it is my current favorite!

Otisan - when's the date?

Gloria - wow nice enough to play tennis - i was thinking it was pretty nice today - in the 40s!!!

have a good rest of day. Dinner then off to son's game!

I'M HERE:) My computer is acting up.I'm getting a new one as soon as my taxes return is in my checking account.Great topics fitdoc.I need to work on alot of those areas.Wildpony,YOU GO GIRL!!! You look amazing.Love the biceps.Yesterday was my first day of the Self Challenge.I did firm:body sculpt blast. If was my first morning with gordy.I wasn't sure of his bathroom routine. He is a beautiful dog.Very good dog.Great walking dog.Goldengirl, going to check out your thread on FP weekend.Waves to everyone.

Hey All,

Today I was dragging. I didn’t get my w/o in until late late late. I did do another 10K though and it felt good. I had to hurry to get finished in time for dinner and “Smallville” I love that show. We all do as a matter of fact. Any ways I’m tired and stiiiiinky. Yuck!! So after a long hot shower me thinks its herbal tea time. Mmmmm

Debbie

Gloria- I’m so sorry to hear about your DH’s secretary. Oh and my V-day with VDH was great the girls spent the night together at oldest DD home so we had the house to ourselves. Meow….;) We ended up staying home and having a nice lobster dinner and a quite romantic evening together alone. It was very nice. He did all the cooking of course. I suppose that was the best choice since I don’t know how to cook lobster on my foreman grill anyways.

DebbieH- Thank you I’m amazed at all the nice things people are saying its soo cool.

Otisan- Don’t worry Cathe will turn you into a muscle machine I’m sure of it. Don’t let your wedding get to stressful enjoy this time and keep your focus on each other. It’s in October right?

Fitdoc- What do you think of all those ball w/o’s. I think the w/o at the end of PLB on the ball is harder than the weight section. I like using the ball I just don’t appreciate the laughter from my dd’s watching me roll all over the place. Don’t worry I will get them up on that thing and then we’ll see who has the last laugh.

FS- Have fun wuppy sitting. :)

Hello to everyone else……

Hi! Hope you are doing great.

Today is "cardio blast" and "hard core abs and back" day.

Otisan, thank you so much for asking about us and the car. DS is doing great. Thank goodness for the short term memory ;)! And DH bought his car last week. The other driver's insurance issue is another story!!(I am sure it will work out though).

Warm Hi to everyone.

Have the most beautiful day.
Bita:)

Good day! :D

I started the morning with Cardio&Weights . . . such a great way to start the day.

Lots of research writing to do today – which explains why I’ve been farting around at the Ya Ya site – p r o c r a s t i n a t i o n!}(

Make your day great:D

Hey everyone!

Just had a really nice lunch with a bunch of a friends from my old company was great to see everyone. I must say I'm REALLY enjoying my time off.... even more so after hearing them talk!

Did S&H chest/back today....

One of the nicest things with time off is I'm doing a lot more with my kids.... I was always totally doing things with them but you REALLY can do more when not working. Like spending more time on course selections for next year, talking to teachers and parents of older kids.... things I just wouldnt have done. My son had a great hockey game and the HS coach was there and actually emailed me saying how good he looks and the MS coach called and said he'd be seeing a lot of play time next year.. I'm one proud mama! Looks like my daughter will be working this summer (volunteering) on an environmental program (camp) for kids. SHe is interested in education and environmental studies so this is perfect.

Sorry for going on and on but I'm feeling very grateful for stuff today :) --- also my old company (2 back) has my old job opening opened up... most folks I know are gone but I just found someone who knew me and he put in a good word... things WILL work out!

Oh it's a beautiful blue sky today! That helps.. Spring WILL be here soon :)

Have a great workout and day all and LOTS of ENERGY for everyone

Me again Debbie!

Yes, there are sooo many kind hearted and caring people here. But, it is TRUE! You look marvelous and you worked hard for it. You deserve the recognition! Nice group of people you hang out with here at the Transformation Challenge too! (I don't always get the chance to check this thread.) KEEP up the GOOD WORK!!! :7
Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/wavey.gif If You Get The Choice To Sit It Out Or Dance...I Hope You DANCE!!!

Hi girls. Debbie! Girl you are beautiful!! Sorry I haven't posted before now but this damn work thing is cutting into my social life!LOL
This is the HH Live weekend in a nutshell-Friday-We went for w BRISK walk on the beach with Jac(100 pounds soaking wet). Friday night reception-Anna stoped and talked to us first(WOW, she's so classy) and Susan Harris sat by me for dinner. Saurday we started with Susan's new crunch time workout.OMG! It was so cool!!! (She also autograpahed my Volume #1case) She's very small and just as nice as she is beautiful. She is so subdued until she teaches and then look out!! SECOND class of the day was rebounding with Tracie and Carissa. What fun! Then we stopped for lunch.(I went to room and soaked in very HOT tub) We had a fitness and diet assessment to see how we were doing with our food choices. Veryy informative. The THIRD class of the same day was Master class with all teachers doing their parts. EXTREMELY TOUGH!! Can ya guess what time I went to bed????? Sunday-We had a GREAT mat class with Eleanor which was pilates/yoga type and really showed me how bad my flexibility is. After that we had the one-on-one class of about 6 people per teacher and they helped you with form problems. I really learned what I was doing wrong in that class. AFTER all that there was another Master class! I'm STILL sore but what a wonderful experience! I can't think of one single bad thing to say. How about that? Sure wish ya'll could have been ther. Then it would have been PERFECT! Tracie is about 5"3" and maybe a size 2!! Jac is also short and tiny. Cariss is tall and cute as a button. Eleanor is tall, willowy and TOUGH yoga teacher. Anna is dignified and has perfect skin. What a southern lady. This was as good for me as a cruise. Best timme of my life! Can ya tell I'm still kinda jazzed? Just as soon as I have time I'll catch up with what's happening in your lives. Sounds like I've missed a lot! I'll "see' ya'll Friday and hopefully have more free time then. BTW-I worked out Monday-MBS, Tues-Cathe's 10-10-10 andPilates/Yoga today. Hope you have a great wenesday night all. Ck on you Friday(Did I already say that? Janice PS-I forgot to tell you that Anna made a video of us talking about what Firm/Fitprime meant to us and the internet friends and she "MAY"(Or not) use it for infomercial or something like that. I'm NOT counting on that because plans change in business and I know that.
