Train Legs or Extra Cardio for Fat Loss

I am interested in anyones opinion or trial and error experience about losing fat. I have a layer of fat on my outer thighs, belly and back of my waist that will not seem to budge.

Currently I am doing cardio 6 days a week and upper body 1 part per day for 5 days. Should I use my 6th day to weight train my legs or keep this cardio? Maybe I will never lose this fat. This is frustrating.

Thanks ahead of time. Melissa

IMO you're doing plenty of cardio. Although you might want to switch it up a little. Your body adjusts to the same routine so you might want to throw it a curve ball. Maybe try some running and/or jumping rope.

What kind of leg routine are thinking of adding? I would think something with low weights/high reps would work best.

Also, what about diet? Sometimes you have to get really strict to lose those last 10 lbs.

There are people on this board who can give you some real expert advice. I'm not an expert (but I play one on tv)... but I think that you should incorporate lower body strength training into your routine. The lower body muscles are big - if you increase your lower body muscle mass, you are effectively increasing your metabolism (because muscle burns calories just by being there). This can really help with fat loss.

Genetics plays a huge role in where you store fat. You can't spot reduce your fat, but by increasing your muscle mass, you can turn your body into a fat burning machine, so you'll burn more fat from all over your body. I think you should do more strength training for this reason.

But, again, I'm no expert. Let's see what others have to say - there are some real fitness gurus around here. :)
