Tracey - High Intensity Step MIx

I got it and did in on Monday. It was ok. Similar in style to Imaxes, but there are only 9 intervals instead of 10. The coreography starts off easy and gets progressively more complex, with the last 2 being on par with Imax 3. The intervals are long (2 mins each) and are easy moves to do, but they do get your HR going. She doesn't give hardly any rest time after the interval, but you instead do the step combos TIFT style (1-5, then 6-9) and progress to the next combo. She does some amount of instruction/repeating and doesn't just go into the coreography and with TIFTing, you really got to learn the coreography. I'm generally coreo challenged, and only the 6th combo really made me mad. I eventually gave up and chaptered forward to that interval. It was a good workout, not as intense as Cathe's Imaxes. The cueing was wrong (right/left) or absent in some sections, and as previously mentioned the music was just ok. Nothing vocal. I had a hard time keeping my HR in my zone, especially during the combos. Maybe if you modified to make it more intense, but after doing Cathe for months, it takes a lot to get my HR up there, and this one just didn't do it. I did only do it on the 6" step (they all do in the workout), so maybe doing it on the 8" step would help (I do Imax 2 in the 8" step but the others and HCE and The Terminator on the 6" one) It was a good interval workout for a day when you're not up to the harder stuff, or if you're still at an intermediate level :) HTH!

i got it today and tried it out. i got too frustrated after 20 min to continue. i had alot of trouble understanding her coreography and she wasn't very good at instructing it. i kept saying the sh$$ word too much. it will get your heart rate up and once i understand the coreography(which might not be til 2007) i think it will be a great, fun workout.

I felt the same way about the cueing in the Kickbox workout... she would say right on the jack and jabs and turn to the right, but use her left hand... it would have been better if she could have said TO THE right rather than just "now on the right".

I kept getting frustrated with the speed as it felt painfully fast for my elbows, and then I remembered my first time doing Cathe, when I thought she was dangerously fast! LOL. Once I learned her style, I'm good with Cathe now. I'm going to give her workouts a few more tries.

I got the ab workout as well and only lasted 20 min before I got bored and turned it off. Maybe another day, I hope...

i am prob going to do cathe's mic then the intervals from traceys workout since i can understand that! that will have to wait til fri before tony's shoulder and arms wo.

I think the Step workout is great!!

The Choreography - I didn't have any major problems following it. I didn't pick up all of the steps on the 1st try, but I got most of it. The choreography is challenging, but doable. I wasn't frustrated like I get with Christi or Seasun. I think it's just getting used to a different instructor. I remember my 1st Cathe workout, I didn't get it all down either.

Intensity - My first reaction - I think it's right up there in intensity with Imax 3. I actually thought it was more intense because there is no resting after the intervals. At one point, I paused the workout just to wipe my sweat, because she doesn't give you a breather. And it's longer it duration, clocking in at 66 minutes - the warmup + workout was a full 60 minutes. I started with an 8 inch step which I use for all my step workouts (except Imax 3), but had to go down to 6 inches. It definitely kicked my butt!

Slightly off topic, but I just received Tracey's new High Intensity KickBox Challenge DVD in the mail today when I got home from work and IMMEDIATELY tossed off my suit and got on the sweating clothes. It was good - intense but different than a Cathe intense. There is about half an hour of kickbox with some pretty cool moves! then a sculpting section using light weights and isometrics that was surprisingly tough. I can tell I will be sore tomorrow. I liked it!:)

I LOVE all three of her workouts. The step will take me a while to get down, but once I do, hello fun while keeping my heart rate up. I think the routine is very creative and very well put together. Thre is some different, fun moves in the combos and it is choreographed very nicely to the music. This will soon be a favorite cardio choice for me. I'm going to try the 1-4 premix today and see how I do. I did the interval only premix this week and have spent some time watching and practicing the combos. The ab routine looks fun and effective and painful. I have not been able to do the ab workout yet, but I love the music and as much as I hate to work my abs, I can't wait to give this a go. The KB is also very good. I can tell that she and crew are tired from filming all day, but it is very well put togther and it will be easy to bring up the intensity if need be. The cardio is put together kind of creatively if you ask me. The sculpting has a lot of balance work in it and looked deceptively easy on preview, but was quite challenging when I actually did it. My legs were worked and a completely different way than traditional leg work does it. My core was engaged a lot. I will preorder Tracey's future workouts. This was a great first endeavor and she will do nothing but get better, but these first workouts are so worth it to me and they will be used regularly by me. Also, I think she does a pretty good job with cueing, and even though that can be frustrating to me at first, I know that I will be doing these workouts over and over so the spot on cueing all the time just isn't that necessary to me. I'm very happy I preordered these workouts. I can't wait to come up with a roation using these and the new Cathe's. I now have Cathe, Tracey, and TLT on my must pre-order list for all future projects!

Amy,

I got all 3, and I did the core workout on Tuesday. It was pilates-inspired, so maybe that's why you were bored ;-) I made it through ok, and while she does a LOT of reps and I had trouble making it through some moves, I didn't feel like I'd totally worked my abs out. I haven't done much ab work recently, and I had almost no DOMS (which I always get with Cathe's Core Max). It's also long, and I'm disappointed there aren't shorter premixes. I don't often want 45 mins of core work...

I did High Intensity Kick Box today. It didn't get my heart rate up and it wasn't much fun. The cueing was off and I just wanted it to be done. I didn't do the sculpting part, I opted for Cathes Gym Styles. Have a gareat day.
