God i hope i made the right decision.
My next to back molar broke off a piece sat night.
This tooth has been bugging me for 2 years.
Dentist tried to talk me in to root canal, said he could fill the side.I figured yeah with a $1`000. cap .I told him , just pull it.
I feel like a hillbilly now.
Should i have done this.
Now i am thinking implant.
You can't see it when i smile.
What would you guys have done???

Anne,

Well if it can't be seen I think you did the right thing. I had one that had to be pulled a couple months ago and you can't tell. Save the money for root canals for the ones you can see if they HAVE to pull.

LOL... I had to have 9 teeth pulled a few years ago, and about a year ago had all my implants finished...
I KNOW how you feel, but, because its in the back I wouldn't worry about it..I LOVE my implants but unless its preventing you from chewing, I would say relax and leave it...You can't see it when you smile so thats a good thing and if you think a root canal and a $1,000 cap is bad....wait until you look into implants lol...my mouth is worth more than my 04' truck!!! It was worth every penny, but again, I was missing 9. However, I don't want to be discouraging..and if it really is bothering you that much look into your options.
Take care

Hi Anne! I just had a tooth pulled, 2nd. from the upper back. I damaged the tooth by biting on a walnut shell inside a muffin and dealt with pain, tons of work on it over the years and finally a root canal & crown this past year which still did not work. Long story short, I had it pulled last week and am so glad now. I am getting an implant. My only concern with you not having something placed there is that possibly all your teeth will shift from there being an empty space. Maybe discuss this with your doc and see what he says. Good Luck! I know what you are going thru and also know how many $'s I have thrown down the drain not having it over & done with right away. You are steps ahead of me timewise! Let me know how you do. (I felt like a Hillbilly too! :7)

Hi Anne

I had the same thing this past July and I too think you did the right thing. However, do talk to your DDS about possbile shifting. Mine was actually the way back tooth and my DDS did not think shifting would be an issue. He also said implants could be revisited at any time so maybe just keep a close eye on it and be sure to get in every 6 months so they can help you keep an eye on it.

GOod luck!

i had to have my last tooth on the bottom right pulled also, and left it like that for 2 years. just too chicken to go back for the implant. finally i went in for the implant because if there is no tooth there for long enough, the bone will begin to retreat as it has no stimulation to keep it there. the implant was painless for me, and it feels stronger than all of my real teeth. you do have time to decide as you have to let the place where the tooth was heal before you can do anything about it. good luck with what you decide...

I have pretty straight teeth.
Bottoms were pushed with wisdom teeth years ago. They are really tight.
I hate to put 1500 into a root canal and a cap.
I would rather put the money into veneers. I am thinking about it.
I figured if it bothers me i will implant a tooth.
I really wouldn't mind if they loostned up a little.
It is so hard to floss them boys . It gets stuck.
Are you sure it was painless.
Don't they screw a post into the bone?
I am really sore from the 5 shots.
My mouth was nunb for over 6 hours yesterday.
Wonder if that is what botox feels like!!!!!!

Anne, I had to get a couple of teeth pulled a few years ago, as well. I couldn't afford the root canal and crowns, so they were tugged right out. Luckily, my wisdom teeth came in and are now taking the molars' places, but if they didn't I would be concerned about what would happen with the extra space. Ask your dentist about it and as you can see/read, you are no hilljack! Plenty of people need to have their teeth pulled/fixed everyday, don't worry about it!
