Too soon for Insanity????

I was working out fairly consistently for a few months and now in August I've worked out only 3 times due to work stresses, a vacation, I had a head cold for about a week and felt tired etc. With me, when my workouts suffer, so does my eating. I've gained about 6 lbs to add to the 15 I already had to lose and I just feel like a blob!

I bought Insanity a few months ago and havent done any of the workouts yet. I'm ready to jump back into working out. Should I just jump in and start with Insanity or would that be too much too soon?? I'm torn btwn wanting a challenge and easing into things. I'm guilty of "easing" into things for weeks on end though! ;)

IMHO, unless you don't mind taking rests and modifying then I wouldn't recommend jumping right into Insanity. It might be too discouraging if you are having to take a lot of rests. The workouts are short but very intense, even the warm up is high impact. Personally I would do some more gentle workouts for a couple of weeks and getting past the haven't worked out in awhile DOMS before trying to do insanity. Would it help with your easing into things for two long issue if you created a rotation? I find following a rotation to be a great motivator. I know what workout is scheduled for each day and I just get up and do it. So you could create a rotation (or use one that someone else here has already created) and start including some of the insanity workouts after a couple of weeks. Just my 2 cents, but I've seen a lot of people who try to go too hard too soon and then end up dropping it because it is so painful!

Good luck!
Pam
