Thursday Check in

melanalyus

Cathlete
I'm off to work this AM, so just a few minutes to say hello!

Gas/constipation is common with pg & post-baby. Drink lots of water, obviously and increase your Colace (docusate) so you can have a regular BM. For me, I could not have a BM while on Percocet or any other narcotic. I"m serious....I had to take a cocktail of TWELVE tablets to have a regular BM!!!! Water retention is common too....but not to the extent Stephanie had. Floater & pain...not good. After i had Justin I sweat 24/7 for 3 days until I shedded (or sweated) all the pg weight. It was gross...but awesome to lose the weight!

I'll start the roll call, and if you feel comfortable chime in:

Have a great day ladies. I'm a little nervous about driving to work after my accident. I know I'll be okay, but it was scary to see the gigantic deer fly into my windshield. I'll check in again before bedtime. :)

Good morning everyone to follow after melanie
be careful driving to work melanie! I bet that was a scary incident. AT least you are safe. Yesterday I heard on the police radio three accidents in a row, just in our ditrict alone, with flip overs and pile ups. It was crazy and they were all in different areas but within minutes of each other.

About WIC i dont know how you would qualify for that? On paper our salaries look normal, but after bills, mortgage and child support we are not really getting by. I havent bought groceries this week and im livig off what i can which i am not used to. And thats not a good feeling, especially with my little one.

Is the roll call for the cheat sheet to keep track of everyone lol?

Melanie-drive safely to work:D Did you find a new car yet?

Jenm-I love the medela pump. I agree that breastfeeding is a lot of work, especially with the first. Just stick with it and it does get easier.

Good morning to everyone else!!

Howdy girls!

Melanie~be careful!! That would freak me out too. I had a deer once, but it just flew sideways off our bumper (at the time we had a Yukon the the bumper was higher) and I felt awful, but I didn't see it hit the windshield or anything like that.

JenM~I didn't know you were a police officer too! Awesome! My dh is a military police! As for WIC we qualify. We didn't before DH went into the military, but now we do. They base it on income and # of people in the household. So for us it's 6 (they count pregnancy) and the income we could have was something like $4,100 or $4,400 a month. I can't recall exactly now. I would think since you pay child support they'd count your step children as well so you also would be a family of 6. It provides milk, cheese, cereal, eggs, beans, and juice. Then after the baby if you are bfing you also get tuna, fresh carrots, and peanut butter. If you formula feed they provide you w/ the food for 6 months and the baby w/ formula. Where are you in FL? My parents are outside of panama city, FL.

Jessica~you might wantt o check into WIC as well. I know almost all the military families here qualify and they don't count your BAH.. just Base pay and BAS. I never thought we'd qualify then I got to talking to DHs boss's wife and some others around here and just about everyone gets it. I had no idea. Anyway just wanted to throw that out there since your DH is military adn you SAH. : )

Jen~oh the constipation is awful. I have had it after every c/s I had. The percoct will make it worse. I drank apple juice, took colace, drank tons of water.. nothing seemed to help. It does get better though as time goes on.

As for pre-e.. I had it w/ my first son. My dr. here told me it's almost always presents with first children and not 2nd, 3rd, ect. He said unless you have say a new husband and have another child w/ him, but if it's your first together then the risks are just as high. He told me they suspect it might be a reaction between the husband/wife and once you have a child together then it is less likely to occur again. I found that insteresting. I developed it in the last week of my pregnancy w/ Hunter. I blew up.. I mean 8lbs in 1 week.. then 6 more in 3 days. Headache, seeing spots, pain in my belly, it was bad. I had no idea that is what it was. I went to L&D to be checked and they said oh boy you are staying. I was in bed on IV fluids for 24 hours while in labor then after my c/s I was in bed another 12 hours and all that fluid just stayed in my body. I had dark tea colored urine coming out in my catherater. It was very scary. I went to get up the first time to pee and my legs were so swollen and my skin was so tight i could hardly walk because it felt like my skin would rip open. I have stretch marks to this day on my calves where I swelled so bad. I have none at all on my belly from being pregnant, but I get them on my calves.. LOL I did nothing but pee every 1/2 hour from the time I got home for days and days. I sweated through my nightgowns at night for the first 4-5 nights. I pray that is NOT what menapause will be like.. goodness. I even had fluid coming out the tiny hole in my back that my epidual went in. They freaked out and tested it to make sure it wasn't spinal fluid.. they finally concluded it was fluid leaking out. I then said can you just poke a bunch of holes in me then to get this fluid to come out. LOL I never did have it happen in any of my other pregnancies. It is so scary though. Gosh that got long.. so anyway..

Hi ladies,
I guess I shouldn't post here anymore since I'm not preggers anymore. :( I'll miss you guys!! I just want to keep up with how you all are progressing.
Trish--That's odd about not having pre-e with other pregnancies. This was the first time I got it, and it was my third pregnancy with same hubby. Maybe post-preg pre-e presents differently. I didn't have night sweats. Actually the opposite. I froze the first week. I felt like my body was full of cold water. I'm feeling much better now and have basically gone back to an IV of caffeine to stay awake. My doc would not be pleased. I know you're excited that the baby will be here soon!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Kate--How is little Julia?
JenP--How are you and baby?

OK, here's my info..

Hi,
I just wanted to check in quick.
Melanie-how scary. Whenever I get in accidents (very few and far between), I am very cautious for the following weeks.

Stephanie-We are doing very well-thanks for asking! I don't feel as bloated today, so that's good. I also found my belly band that I never used when pregnant, and it came in handy today when I couldn't button a pair of maternity jeans. I just slipped that sucker right over the top of my jeans, and it worked.

Candra-So close!!! When is your actual due date?

Trish-you are so close too. How many c/s's have you had? This was my 2nd. A 3rd child is not out of the ? (but, based on how DS #1 acted tonight, it may be now), so I know if we do have another one, it will be a c/s too. I am not ready to think about having that surgery again soon, though.

Hello to everyone else!

I will continue to "lurk", but I don't feel that this is the place for me to post anymore. So, I wish all of you the best of luck in TTC and in your pregnancies!

Thanks for all the support you have given me over this past year.

-Jen

Jen, I've been thinking about you---it would be great support & fun if you'd start up a post-baby check in? I'm sure Morris, Maggie, Stephanie, Kate & yourself would be great support for one another...and an inspiration for other mommies..... just something to think about!!!
