Thursday Check-In

Hi ladies! Thought I'd start the check-in since it's late Wednesday already. Sorry I've been MIA lately. It's been really hectic with the kids back in school and football/cheerleading. I forgot how much time homework can take and then rushing off to practice. Anyway, I've also been trying to tie up all my loose ends at work so I can leave on maternity without worrying too much about leaving things so I haven't had much computer time at home or work. I can't believe there's a bunch of us that will be giving birth within the next month and a half to two months!! I've been walking still and not much of anything else. I am really pooped by the time dinnertime rolls around and I swear if I weren't so hungry, I would probably sleep until the next morning. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and hope everyone is doing well.

Kate - I'm doing really good, but really exhausted! I can't believe how often I get up in the middle of night to pee! I guess it's good preparation for the middle of the night feedings. How are you doing? Are you all ready for baby?

Lisa

Hi! Well, insomnia has struck once again...It's 4 in the morning, and I have been up since 3-when DS came to me with the runs (AGAIN):(. He is not acting sick, no fever, and no runs during the day-only at night. I am trying to be a detective and figure out what this could be, and I attribute it to juice. So, juice will once again be banned from his diet and he will be eating yogurt and bananas today! I also just had a small bowl of Fruit Loops:confused:. They weren't as satisfying as I thought they would be.

I had Open House lastnight, and 15 out of 20 parents showed up-not bad at all! They were fine, but I was tired when I left at 9. I did come home for dinner between work and open house. My students are settling in to routines, but I lose them everyday after lunch. I mean, their minds are not in school after lunch. They are getting used to being in school all day since K is not full-day.

I am continuing to get a lot of pressure in my pelvis area too, and I swear this baby can be born any time!

Stephanie-I feel the same things you do. Body parts just push out from time to time too-it's like something from a science fiction movie.

Trish-Great workouts. I have not had time this week for much of anything. I did Jari Love SL on Tuesday, and I had my worst day (pain-wise) that day at work. Yesterday was just way too busy. So, I am hoping that I can get time to exericise today. Yes, I can do it now, but I really want to go back to sleep, and I feel myself getting sleepy.

Kate-Can you come and organize my house too? I hope you enjoyed your rest day-my body has been begging me for them lately.

Jen M-Your poor dad, and poor you. How did yesterday go? I am not sure about your arm pain, but maybe you should get it checked out.

Mikkia-Yeah on no leg cramps-they stink.

Lisa-Nice to hear from you. I hear you with being super busy these days!

Hello to everyone else!
-JEn

Good morning ladies
thanks for the advice on my arm so far...i seem to have a mystery condition and i cant find out too much on the web. Someone mentioned bicep tears/tendonitis but i read that those affect the shoulder out arm area more than where i'm experiencing it. I did put a little ice on it last nite for a long time and it felt a *little* better but its back to normal pain again. the line going down my arm is a little more noticeable today.

I don tknow if my ob would check that out..i'd think it'd be more of a different doctor type thing. Do you think its pregnancy related? That did not even cross my mind...

Well, I am at work so i gotta get started. I'll be back later.

Jen sorry for the insomnia. I love cereal :) Have a bowl for me!

I just have a minute, but I'm dying to do personals!!!!

Lots of errands this AM and I need to get a head start before the girls wake up!

Hope you all have a great morning - I'll bbl this afternoon!

Morning-
hope eveyone has a happy day ahead. i am taken ds to preschool for meet the teacher here in a few minutes. I feel like i have a hang over this am. I didn't sleep well, and well, I am dragging. Not quite the first impression i would like to make at the new school. Oh well.
Jen-I am sorry about the insomnia. I bet you are so tired. I am glad so many parents showed up at meet the teacher.
Jenm-I don't know about your arm. Do you have a chiropractor? Thats where I always start. Nothing against your regular dr, its just in my experience they like to throw meds at any muscle problem, and chiropractors usually try and "fix' it. my dh is a doctor, so I think I can say that with some certainty. My uncle is a chiropractor. i would see him once a week when we lived there!
Lisa- i bet you are ready for baby, it is coming so soon!
kate-talk to you later. Have a great day!!!
Started reading this book called "happiest Baby on the Block" anyone heard of it/ Very interesting reading, i'll explain more later.:)

mikkia i do not have a chiropracter. In fact I dont even have a regular doctor. All i have down here is an ob-gyn! I keep telling myself i need to find a doctor and a dentist. we moved here in november and im just procrastinating.
I once tried to get a normal practice doc. I thought in feb i was dying. i was real sick the whole month and couldnt keep anything down so i wanted to see a doctor instead of the walk in. they said sure...in three months we can get you in! So i cancelled and went to the ER - BIG mistake, the er we chose stunk. I watied 8 hours in a cold room with an iv and they poked and prodded me and made me drink gatorade..siad nothing was wrong with me, then biled me 1800 dollars! i'm still getting bills for that dang visit. DH said thats a lot of money for gatorade! LOL
so..i do not klike going to the doctor, i always get the run around. even with my ob-gyn they seem to do the same thing, pretty disorganzed and the whole mix up with my bloodwork last visit and having to take 3 draws for my thryoid..sigh

would your husband be able to tell you if he ever heard of my symptoms before?

Jen -Sounds like the military clinics, you can never get in for reg appts less than 3 months off. Its rediculous. by the time you get in whatever was wrong would heal by itself. I hope you figure out the muscle issue. I hope it isn't something that needs attention though. Sometimes if you make a big stink when making your appt about how bad it is they will squeeze you in somewhere. They are used to hearing complaints though and will ignore you unless they think its important enough to squeeze you in.

Anyway. I'm fine here. Already feeling a touch nauseous and seeing my breasts change! I'm surprized to see any symptoms this early (just found out!). I went all the way to the hospital for a blood test yesterday and they wouldn't see me even though there was 10 more minutes till they closed. reason I went at that time was so the kids could stay home with DH. I have to go back today. :p How long does it take to take a stinking blood sample? 2 minutes? ugh. That was a half hour drive! Also, My DH is leaving for a month. I'm due for a pap and I know they will want to feel everything etc.. I don't know what to do with the kids for my appt unless they can put it off that long. I'm assuming they'll make my first appt today so I'll ask. I have no family around and my friends work full time. ugh.

cavillo, they wouldnt see me not even to confirm my pregnancy. they said 8-12 weeks along is when the doctor will take a look. its my first pregnancy and i wanted to be seen before that since i didnt know what to do/what not to do..but i managed ok. not sure if you are referring to the same thing or not.

well the blood test is just at the lab. They do them all day and you can walk in. Its not for the appt. I assume they'll make me an appt though. I have no idea how soon it will be. Since my DH is leaving for a month I actually HOPE they put it off for a month or so till hes home and can be with the kids for my appt. I'm not worried about being seen anytime soon for the dr. I just need to get the ball rolling in some way so I think your supposed to get the bloodtest first.

Kate~have fun w/ those errands. : )

Cavillo~does your post have hourly daycare? I have to register my kids w/ CYS and then they can go to that. I guess you just call ahead and give them the time that you are coming and you can drop them off for 1 hour if you want or longer. Our hospital on post even has hourly care so when I have the baby DH can take them there and we won't have to worry about who is going to be here to watch them.

JenM~I only was thinking blood clot because you said the line thing and from what I understand that can be a sign of blood clot. maybe you can take a pic of your arm and post it in the general chat area to see if anyone has had a simliar condition.

Jen~you teach 1st grade?? How fun! My oldest is in 1st grade this year and so far he loves it. I was so proud. He had his first spelling test yesterday and he go a 100 on it. They do a practice test on Wed. and if they get 100 they don't have to take the real test on Friday. Instead on Friday he gets to go to centers (which I guess it lots of fun) and the other kids take the test. I was so worried w/ moving and switching schools, but it seems he is doing great here.

Hi ladies! I'm late today!!
Lisa--Sorry things are so hectic there. Hope things calm down soon and you can get some rest! I feel your pain on the nighttime peeing! I woke up SO rested this morning just because I only got up once during the night!

Jen1--Glad openhouse went well. I know that it must be a relief to know the parents are interested in their kids' education. I know some teachers (like my sister) have very little parent participation. LOL about the science fiction film body. You hit the nail on the head!! AND he picks the most inopportune times to press on my bladder -- like today when I was walking through the grocery store and had to start walking VERY slowly and take lots of deep breaths and will myself not to pee on aisle 4. Wouldn't that have been lovely? Sorry your DS is having the runs again. Maybe you could just dilute his juice?

Jen2--I'd definitely tell your OB about your arm. He/she could at least refer you to someone if he/she thought it was something serious. I point everything out to my OB. I had a mystery rash under my right boob (TMI?) in the beginning of the second trimester, and she checked it out and said it was due to pregnancy, so yes, pregnancy can do very funky things to your body. Your ligaments/muscles become much more sensitive too due to hormone shifts, so that may have something to do with your arm too. Your OB would know.

Kate--Have fun errandmaxing!

Mikkia-Sorry you're dragging today. Maybe tonight will be restful for you. I've heard of that book. I almost bought it because of the rave reviews it got on Amazon. Let me know what you think about it.

Cavillo--Yey for pregnancy symptoms!! That stinks though about the doctor's office. Hopefully they can see you soon. Keep us posted!

Trish--My oldest is in first grade this year too! Glad that yours is doing so well in the new school! I know you're glad to be moved and settled. How are you liking it there?
---------
Well, I had a really rotten start to the day. Oliver's bus was late; I was late taking Henry (3) to preschool, noticed the gas tank was on dead empty and had to take a detour to a gas station and pay a kabillion dollars for gas; had to sit through paving on the street to his school; and on and on. Finally he got there thirty minutes late, and didn't complain a bit. He simply said when I got him out of the car, "Mommy, your shoes are bootiful!" What a guy! I then went to Kohls for some retail therapy and to pick up some "OH MY GOSH" sized yogaish pants to wear at the hospital and some wretched elastic-waisted fat jeans to wear postpartum. (My sweet MIL had sent me a check and told me to spend it just on me, and so I did!) I also bought the boys a sweat suit for winter and a book for now, just because. THEN I went grocery shopping. My credit card feels like such a slut. :)

Now I must go eat some lunch. Hope everyone is having a good day!!

JenM-I would love to ask dh about your arm but the man absolutely does not deal with pregnant women or children in practice(which makes him virtually useless to me at this point:p) When we lived out in western Kansas he had to deliver 3 babies in one week (he was covering the ER). They were the 'we are trying to make it to the hospital but didn't make it so we stopped here types of deliveries' I thought he was going to have a nervous breakdown. A gunshot wound to the head/ no big deal. Men! I think I would talk to your OB, like someone else suggested. I hope it gets better soon!
stephanie-LOL about the credit card slut! My credit card has been acting like Heidi Flyss as well.. sorry about your morning, at least its not Monday.
cavillo-sorry about your run around at the dr. I had the same trouble. They didn't see me until I was 12 weeks. I was pis*ed! I did get to see my normal gyn (who doesn't do OB) for a pap and she had a pelvic US so she was kind enough to "look around", but she was a personal friend and I am sure the only way I got one.
Ok, I better get some dinner in the oven, we have soccer tonight. i am still dragging!

Started reading this book called "happiest Baby on the Block" anyone heard of it/ Very interesting reading, i'll explain more later.:)[/quote]

Yes, Mikkia, I actually bought that book in the midst of one my DS's colicky episodes. He was just about one month old, and I had had it:eek:. I saw the author on a talk show in the a.m., I packed Andy in the car and headed to Borders. I bet the sales person was cracking up inside when he saw me (with screaming Andy) buying "The Happiest Baby on the Block". I drove home and read it cover to cover. There are some good tips in it, but still nothing seemed to work with Andy:confused:. He just grew out of it. My sister-in-law used the shhhhhh-ing in the ear and the loud vacuum cleaner sound, and they worked well for her son. Do you like the book?

-Jen

I am back for more...

I must have missed you Cavillo, with my super busy week-welcome! :D

Stephanie-I just used my cc to pay for a pair of sneaks for DS. I think it's just easier to use it if I have to make a return. Shoebuy.com is having a Labor Day sale, and the coupon code is EMLLABORDAY. You get $15 off any purchase of $40 or more. I buy my DS Stride Rites b/c they fit great from the moment he puts them on. They are a bit $$$, so I always wait for a sale. Then, if you buy often (like every few months), you get additional $ off when you check out. So, I saved $18 on a pair of sneaks for him (not bad!). I laughed when you said your CC feels like a slut:D. Boy, do I know about having to walk slow and hold in pee;). Yikes!!! I have a very packed morning, and my kids have specials only in the afternoon. I have great co-workers who help me out when I need to pee, but still!!!

Kate-How did errandmax go?

Trish-I am teaching my students about centers/stations right now. They learn to work independently on literacy activities (at their own levels), and I am then able to work with small reading groups without interruptions. I am glad your DS likes school so much. We don't start "official" spelling tests until April. We work a lot on letter sounds/chunks until then.

Jen M-I hope you get some answers about your arm soon!

Hello to everyone else. I am off to bed (at 9:00p.m.).
-Jen

Lisa, Good to hear from you! Sounds like things are busy for you. Getting ready to get busy here - school starts next week for us. WAH!I *think* we’re MOSTLY ready for baby. If she came early it wouldn’t be too hard to get caught up. Still need to go thru hand-me-downs from DDS but other than that, the room is ready, I’m practicing hypno-birthing, etc. All is well! Walking has been my cardio lately too - twists and turns on the step are increasingly harder on my poor round ligaments!

JenP - Glad the open house went well. I’m always amazed as an involved mom how many parents are NOT involved! Blows my mind sometimes! And a 9PM bedtime sounds fab! I’m jealous!

JenM - No clue on the arm thing - maybe the relaxin hormone that we have while pg is at play?

Mikkia, My midwives HIGHLY recommend that book - I’ll be buying it soon.

Calvillo, Sorry for the drama with the blood work! YAY for bigger boobs!!!!

Trish - Glad DS is enjoying 1st grade! What a relief!

Stephanie, Sorry for the bad start to your day! What a wonderful MIL you have! Can I borrow her?!

Nice day here - lots of errands. I was really tired but pulled out some crazy energy and did DM with DH. (check out OD for details! haha!)

Susan - how’s school going?!
Candra, Where are you today?!
